Hello, glad you found me here. I upload these videos here because I'm always asked if I would give courses. This does not work due to space constraints at the moment, so I'll just let you look over my shoulder here when I work on my paintings - and without music or other distractions - just watch and enjoy. If you have any questions, just write them to me in the comments.
Of course I'm happy about a👍and if you subscribe to my channel.

Art Demo 21 Abstract painting with acrylics in many layers #deutsch #english
Art Demo No. 21, Construction of an abstract acrylic painting in several layers
(Deutsche Übersetzung folgt weiter unten)
In this video, I'll show you how I build a painting layer by layer and work out the details. It's not so much about showing you how to copy a painting but rather about accompanying you courageously implementing your ideas on the canvas. As always, I don't want to advertise products because I use many different brands. I usually mix my various colours together myself. Sometimes even directly on the painting while painting. Just be a little brave and try. I already coloured the canvas in various red, pink and brown tones for this painting the day before and let it dry well. Here you can try out completely uninhibited colours and patterns. I have set this video here as uncut as possible so that you can follow all the work steps well. I used the following for tools in this painting: various spatulas, pallet knives and brushes in different sizes. I'll write the colours you need in the subtitles. In order to mix my colours a little more transparently if necessary (these are the small vials), I use a pouring medium plus Floetrol that I mix with the acrylic paint. This has the advantage that the colours do not lose their luminosity. Like most of my paintings, I have built up the picture in several layers and even if many wonderful details disappear again, the finished painting would not be the same if I omitted these intermediate steps. I hope you like the result and don't forget that I'm always happy about a like from you and of course even if you subscribe to my channel.

Wonderful seeing your process. Are you painting on panel board? Is that your preferred surface?
Thanks for your nice comment. Mostly I use stretched canvas…. Like in this video
The colors and the textures on these pieces are amazing!
Thanks kindly
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥they are absolutely stunning❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Huge thanks 🙏 😅
Nette Grüsse , Any
I like your style. it is very architectural.
Thank you kindly

Hehe, but it wasn’t finished 😉
@@veraj.5841 it was lovely to see such delicacy and inspiration talent and grace altogether, i saved your video to watch it later time when i am lazy and should actually paint many thanks.
Herzlichen Dank ! Das freut mich wirklich 🫶
Absolutely LOVED this one❣️
Thank you kindly
Do you gesso first before applying your acrylic paint and pouring medium?
Yes, always

Good morning from Canada Vera! I too love watching you work seeing how you play and how careful you are with applying texture and colour. I will go back and watch your other posts. What is that small palette that you are using to mix your paints? Is it an acrylic plate of some sort? And what thickness of acrylic paint do you prefer. I am new to painting and have learned it can range from a thin runny texture to a thick quality depending on what you buy. I bought my first set of acrylics but found it is quite thin and wonder which you find to be most useful. I’m looking forward to watching more of your work!
Hello Constance, thank you for the lovely compliment. I'm glad I can inspire you. Answering your question about colours is not that easy. I don't use any particular brands, although you'll find that the better the colours, the more fun they are to work with. It always depends on what exactly you want to do on your surface. Sometimes it's an advantage to apply a rather transparent layer of colour, and sometimes it needs to be something opaque. For both, you can buy media in specialist shops that you can mix with your colour to make it either more liquid or more solid and therefore more opaque. Look at the text in the description. I usually specify exactly what I use. Now to your question about my small mixing palette. It's a very simple Bakelite breakfast tray that I had discarded because it had become unsightly :-D
Thank YOU for such a quick answer. I will head to my art store and look for some of those mediums to thicken my paint. And your word on a better quality paint to help me understand why one would buy more expensive colours. I also want to complement you on your style of video. I find the simplicity with no music or talking really help me stay with your movements. (And I value your little comments to understand what you are doing). A simple way of instructing. I love hearing the scratching on the canvas. So glad I found you!
So helpful to watch you work. Thanks.
That’s nice to know 🙏
Fascinating. Thanks so much. Would be great if you could indicate each time you leave a layer to dry.
Thank you 🙏 I’m trying to think about the next one

How do you keep your paint wet so long? Mine dries in seconds. I live in a very dry climate.
You can try to use a bit water
Très beau

Wow! Love your art.
Thanks 🌸
Love it. Looks amazing. What is the foil you said you make your stencil from?
I used the transparent cover sheet from a calendar 😉 Just look at and use all sorts of things with a little imagination and interest
Your paints seem to stay wet a lot longer than mine. Do you live in a very humid climate? Do you add something to your paints to help them dry slower? I live in a very dry place and my paint are dry in less than five minutes I’d say.
When it’s very hot here, I spray my canvas with a little water every now and then
Oh one more. Do you use open paints?
I use all kinds of color
Just found your channel and I love it. It’s extremely helpful to see so many techniques and to see you work in real time. I have a few questions I’m hoping you will answer. What is in the small paint bottles? Are you mixing a medium with heavy body acrylics? What type of ratios? What kind of palette is that? Do ou just wipe it off with a rag? Thanks!!
First thanks for the nice message. In this little bottle is acrylic paint mixed with pouring medium fluid and Floetrol. This makes it more fluid and transparent. And my palette is just an old Breakfast board from Resopal. It was no longer beautiful but is so well suited as a palette 😆
Love it! Is the floetrol specifically for acrylic paint? I have some meant for latex house paint. Would that work do you think? I’d love to find a way to make my paints more transparent.
@@emilynelson5880I think it’s the same. Just try it. I know that it can also be used for wall paint.

Thank you 🙏🌸💛
I' d have been happy to stop at 5:35 or 29:05 I think a lot of abstract artists cover up gems of detail by working on the piece too long.
That may be, but in the end, it must first and foremost feel right for the artist himself
@@veraj.5841 Oh, absolutely, there is a driver inside the artist who knows where the destination is, and the passenger enjoys the view all along the journey, so to speak. Art is wonderful that way.

Wow! I am new to painting & have watched a lot of videos of abstract artists who scratch lines on the canvas and squirt water to make paint drip. Until now I thought they were affectations, marks on canvas that were unconnected to the final painting. And then I watched this video and instantly appreciated your process which absolutely connects the scratches & paint drips to the composition of the painting. I loved everything you did on this canvas! I think if I watch your process 3 or 4 times on just this painting, I will learn quite a lot about painting an abstract. Thanks for your generosity in sharing your process.
Thank you so much for your kind words.. much appreciated and I wish you a lot of fun in the future
