    Thanks Roy this is very insightful. Ive had Sciatica for near a year. I used to lift heavy and still try to within reason. Upon watching your talk I know I need to get out of this obsessive number orientated habit. I myself used to deadlift 220kg sets and have been obsessed on getting back to previous levels. Im going to commit to lighter options on exercises that compress my spine and test on a weekly basis. Ill compliment this with stretching, vitamins and my inversion board, hope this works!

    Not sure why people haven’t took anything from this. As a long time sufferer of over 20 years I found this video interesting. We don’t always get to hear other people’s individual stories on here. What he’s trying to say is you have to find your own manageable level of treatment and there simply isn’t a one time fix all solution it doesn’t so m exist take it from me. I get flare ups and it’s almost always when I over exert something. I’m pretty fit and play football. Started playing x3 times a week. While this was ok for a few months I realised it was getting too much for my muscles as a 42 year old. But I carried on. I went to the gym and that was the icing on the cake really. I overdid it on cardio and weights. Next day I was in bits. I suppose the morale of the story is don’t overdo things. Easier said than done if you enjoy exercise and have that personality to post on. But interesting video though and thanks for sharing

    Everyone here that said waste aren’t listening. 1. He got soft tissue work consistently. 2. He tried to figure out what caused the start of the symptoms. 3. He started walking at certain distances. 4. He tested how far he can go before a flare up. 5. Setbacks happen. 6. When he was seeing results from 1. and 3., He started core workouts focusing on his particular problem and weak muscles (e.g. glutes).

    Instead see an Osteopath, they actually treat you with stretches, massage, acupuncture. Physios just tell you to walk with better posture and to stretch at home. Chiropractors take £50 off you for doing a few adjustments which can cause injury and see you for 10-15 minutes only.

    2 months at physio and ice packs. Temporary relief eg 40 mins max. Baclofen muscle relaxant helped more but was only given 3 pills. In past 3 pills of diazepam. 100% successful but now GP s wont prescribe them because of guidelines or silly fear of addiction. In my 3 times using diazepam ie 2011 2015 2018 ive not become addicted. Right now im in pain 10 weeks as doc wont give me the meds. Its now become sciatica since yesterday. Before there was never tingling or pain in leg or buttock. A knee brace cud help as iv bad problem there, but despite one conslt predicting 25 yrs ago thatd id probably need a brace occasionally, no public or private physio will pay any attention to him. He was top orthopaedic in this country in his day.

    Interesting. I feel like a chiropractor will help you relieve your pain by fixing/aligning your spine or posture. But you may need a PT in order to prevent to have this pain again. Like fixing your gait cycle and improving your neuro-muscular connections or learning how to activate certain muscle groups in your body by giving some sort of strength resistance feedback until you kinda do it in autopilot

    • @zarelli7831
      @zarelli7831 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mariovaldes3921 no! As chiropractor is not recognised as a medical profession. They’re only Doctors in their own profession. Where a physio doctor is recognised by the other medical professions as being a doctor. The difference is in the evidence based practice of both disciplines.

    Points to consider with this exercise - 1) The flat hand places stress on the wrists - a weak area as we age and lose bone density. Preferably, make a fist of the hands, or use press-up handles. 2) The hyper-extension of the neck during the Cow Pose is not recommended, and adds virtually nothing to the spinal stretch. The head can and should remain in spinal alignment: horizontal and facing forward. 3) Coordinate movement upwards with exhalation and downwards with inhalation.
