    8th year and I’m doing all the servicing myself now. I can confirm that Ford have never changed that filter. 30k miles and 8 years of junk in there

    I've installed spacers on a few vehicles of mine, and have a couple of suggestions. I'd put some anti-seize or high-temp grease on the back of the spacers, to stop them from galvanizing to the hubs. Most spacers are aluminum, most hubs aren't, so the anti-seize or grease will help prevent the two dissimilar metals from bonding to each other. Also, I put some thread locker on the nuts that secure the spacers to the hubs.

    Fantastic video! The alternator belt failed on mk2 XR5t and it appears a peice of it went into the timing belt, threw the timing out and now i may have to pull the head and replace some valves, hopefully just the exhaust side. The OBD is throwing the code for bad correlation between crank and cam shafts so as far as i can tell the cams are still timed together but the crank has advanced itself out of time (hopefully only slightly). When I tried to start it after the failure there was no surging from compression, just a smooth rotation. Do you have any advice?

      The cable doesn't actually come apart - a cut one has been used and put in a vice purely so that you can see it better. The job should all be done with cables still attached to the vehicle, you just need to disconnect them from the gearbox shifter linkages as shown in the video

    Good tips! I wouldn't want to run anything over the pleats though for fear of damaging the screen/cotton. Save yourself the time and only oil the unfiltered air side. The cotton will wick the oil up to saturate the whole filter. Oiling the clean air side opens an opportunity to have excess oil come off and gum up the air sensor. It just takes a little longer to wait for the oil to migrate over the entire filter.

      no sorry but its pretty straight forward. Remove the windscreen lower trims, then the exhaust manifold heat shield. Remove induction pipe and hose. Remove all the nuts holding manifold to cylinder head, remove the turbo oil feed line banjo bolt to the turbo. Unscrew PCV line from intake throat of turbo. Raise vehicle up, remove the turbo oil feed line banjo bolt from the block, do the same for coolant feed & return. Remove the CBV vac line, unplug the boost solenoid/TCV connector. Remove 2XT30 torx bolts holding turbo oil drain pipe to turbo. Unplug 1st o2 sensor, remove 3 bolts holding downpipe to turbo and remove downpipe. Now either remove the drivers side drive shaft OR unbolt the wastegate actuator from the turbo (2x10mm bolts) dont touch the actuator rod adjustment though just let the actuator hang. pull the turbo down and out tilting it on its side. (remove actuator if leaving shaft in, if removing it then leave actuator as it is)

    Had a few issues on my mk2 ST and the symptoms all pointed towards the cluster so being a solderer i decided to do it myself,totally desoldered the pins and put new solder on.seems to have done the trick but am i imagining my cars running a lot sweeter and more responsive? Anybody else had this happen?

      pretty normal to run better. One of the faults that usually occurs is throttle position. When the reading isn't correct, the ECU only uses the single reading instead of multiple so after you do the repair it goes back to using more than 1 and the car is a lot more responsive as a result :)

      need to make sure that the center bolt youve refitted isnt threaded all the way in otherwise the clutch cant slide off the splines because the head of the bolt will stop it

    I've been using compressed air for years, just be smart about it - ~50psi with a vented nozzle and follow-up drying in the sun. For those that don't know, Metho = Denatured/99% Isopropyl alcohol in the states. Also, don't waste that much degreaser - coat it on both sides and flush after 5min. Simple Green and Formula 409 are much more cost-effective alternatives to the K&N brand cleaner, and they clean as well...if not better/faster.

    Appreciate the simple yet clear instructions mate, 10 minute job after watching your clip. Only thing I did differently was use a torx Allen key rather than a spanner and torx bit, only because I dropped the torx bit down the bay first 😂

      I believe that the S-max uses the same fuel system as the Mondeo and has its own dedicated fuel pump module controller like the Volvos. I would lean more towards that due to the DTCs you've got. I cant be 100% sure though as we dont get the Smax in Australia and I only slightly remember their layout from when I was working in the UK

    My xr5 blows cold air then warm air intermittently. Maybe 15secs of cold air followed by 10 secs of warm air. It continues this pattern.. Could that be the start of the issues in this vid or something else entirely?

    Hello OEM Denied, My 2007 Focus XR5 Turbo currently has a check engine light. I've scanned for codes, and I got codes for ignition coils on all 5 cylinders (twice), as well as P0190 and P0193 (intermittent)... My car is running perfectly, however I have had a few strange electrical gremlins lately, and last time I went to start it, it didn't turn over the first time... I've checked the battery and that's all good, and I've been told to check earth points as well... TIA for your help

      as it the bolt wont turn at all or it turns and is no longer threaded into the arm but wont come all the way out? If its the latter I find putting the open end of a spanner underneath the head of the bolt to push against as you turn helps. Also try supporting the arm a little bit as it could be the pressure from the spring pushing down against the arm which is making it hard to fully remove the bolt

    I’m curious about the wire/retention spring - genuine ford one cost £30 for pair..OE costs anywhere near £7 so is the Ford one made out of stainless or something??

      Pretty normal for Gen Ford parts to be higher in cost especially on a part that doesn't normally fail and usually is only replaced because of being lost or damaged. I don't believe its stainless, galvanised would be more likely.

Genuine Ford itl be made by an OEM supplier > Ford themselves and a mark up put on it > distribution centre who puts another mark up on it > dealer who puts on their mark up > sells it to you. Mark ups and transport increase the price. Aftermarket/OE its usually factory > parts store > you.

      on vehicle with an automatic gearbox turn the ignition on first, then depress both pedals (manuals see the ignition request for start only when clutch pedal is depressed, autos its brake)

      I would just lift up the coolant expansion tank and visually check the mount before replacing. Personally, I dont see how a bad mount would only give vibration in 4th and not the other gears. (doesnt make much sense for it to do that, itd be in all gears)

      I’ve noticed one of my coolant (Silicone) hoses rests against the gear fork on top of the gearbox. I feel the engine mount has gone and is vibrating the hose which in turn is vibrating the gear stick in 4th. I’ve noticed it does vibrate in other gears but 4th is just a lot worse. Also, can those of us in the U.K. order products from yourself and your store ?

      1 touch is normal, its how the vehicle came from the factory.

      @@OEMDeniedPerformance yes but mine has an problem when I try to close the window sometimes is going up and imidetly go down I don't know why is doing like this

      @@silviuciotoroschi857 The battery will have been disconnected at some point and someone hasn't gone through the reset procedure afterwards so it hasn't operated as 1 touch. The feature is called global closing (I worked for Ford when the cars were new)

      @@silviuciotoroschi857ahhh thats caused by dirt in the window channel. The window closing design is like that so that if a child has their head through the window and presses the button by mistake it wont trap them. If you wind the window all the way down and gently run a toothbrush in the channel on both sides it should clear it out. You can also lubricate it with some silicone spray then the window should close all the way without sticking & going back down again.

    Awesome vids, I've watched them all so far, followed them for when I changed to a Ram Air filter and changed my aux drive belts and now the alternator, dont have all the nice tools you have :D, but I made do, and still managed to get the jobs done following along with really great instructions. Although I didn't need to test my old alternator, as it very loudly announced its departure from it's 10 yr (remanufactured I found) service for me! I think the hulk tightened up my old alternator bolts though, they took some hefty cleaving to get off, was almost convinced I was turning them the wrong way. The top "hardest" one to get to was no joke for me, I was literally leaning on full body weight (and I'm not small) to move it, finally got it though! The rest were then not much better, but more manageable. Also I've found out that my inlet manifold is securely tighted up by no more than 4 bolts....! Not something I ever thought I'd need to check, makes me want to go through the entire engine bay haha.

    When upgrading the injectors do they not need to be coded in to the ecu

      no coding is required (that is usually only with Diesel engines) but you do need to be running a tune that requires the size injector that you install as the tune will be scaled for that particular size.
