Yes mate, i have checked voltage and also checked ripple with oscilloscope - everything is totally fine. Belts i tried several from two different suppliers and got the same results :( IMO as i mentioned before speed stability is poor due to motor runs capstans not all the time and only when in play/rec mode, also this motors don’t have any FG feedback for more accurate speed control. Now i will try sony BSL motor new old stock one that have FG feedback for speed control. By the way service manual says that normal speed deviation from -1,5% to +1,5% - thats too much and thats why i am fighting with it :) Thanks you! Cheers mate!

Not in the 007 - that machine is so high hours I would rather leave it the way it is now. I had the chance to grab a Canadian market 009 myself for about the money I spent on the A&D machine. I couldn't say no. But mine is a 2025 project so it's going to be a little while yet. So maybe not so soon...

Most likely, but i am a bit not comfortable to add metal into plastic gears mechanism since imo metal gear teeth can do damage to plastic teeth. I have seen that or experienced that situation with electric pepper grinder where motor had metal gear and it destroyed first plastic gear, then had another unit where all gears are plastic and i am still using it till now :) Cheers

Thank you mate! I have already received new motor and it also drifts in speed a bit - about 10hz and it stabilises then (w&f is totally different story). But i bought sony k81 motor that is fg servo - it should not drift, but i need to make psu for it. Also i was discussing with other xk 009 owners and they all say that this deck is drifting in speed by a bit and service manual gives +- 1,5 % drift in speed error…- thats a lot i think… Cheers!

Agreed, that is a lot. I was thinking of doing that same thing to my XK-007 before I had to use that extra motor from the K61 on my K65.

Thank you! I have already received new motor and it’s very nice in w&f, but speed drifts 10hz -> video soon. Also bought new old stock sony tc k81 fg servo motor that should be very stable speed wise. We will see in future videos since i have to build power supply for it. Cheers!

Can be lots of things: tape itself failing... something mechanically, like bad pinch roller, bad positioned pinch roller and so on so fourth... Cheers

I am using isopropyl alcohol bath and fine soft brushes and compressed air for that. Used ultrasonic cleaner once and it damaged switches. Cheers

I am doing lapping by myself. For this process i am using diamond polish paper sheets with various grits. I will do video in the future, I thought that its not very interesting :) Thank you Cheers
