I think its Japan only. In Japan pl55 was released in like 3 different colours- thats what i have seen :) I love this device colour and also how it sounds ☺️
It depends on model actually, later sonys - yes, but just because no leakage of capacitors, but soundvise i like aiwas much more than sony - its just my personal opinion. And i am not saying that sony or Panasonic doesn't have very good sounding devices, because they have. Cheers!

So, in general, Sonys have fewer problems after all these years in comparison to Aiwa or Panasonic?
