Dauphin Island, AL with our Labrador Retriever
We spent a few days social-distancing by going to beautiful and quiet Dauphin Island, Alabama in the Gulf. We hardly saw anyone and the weather was awesome. It was Maggie’s first time in the ocean and after a few minutes she took to it like the water dog she is.
The beaches were clean and the few locals we did speak with were very nice. We’ll be back.

New Bride Sees Grand Canyon For First Time
มุมมอง 2779 ปีที่แล้ว
During our honeymoon in Sedona, Arizona we ventured north to the Grand Canyon. Although I'd experienced the canyon many times before, this was my new bride's first introduction. She made an effort to not look until she reached the edge of the South Rim. When she opened her eyes, I believe the view nearly took her breath away. It's a moving experience for anyone.

      Thanks! I’ve had it for a couple of years now and I’m still very happy with it. It was in decent shape when I got it but it needed a new battery and tires right away. Later it needed other maintenance items done but overall it’s been very reliable and satisfying to ride, even on long rides of 300 miles or more. The motor gets very warm so it’s more comfortable to ride during the cooler months. I hope you enjoy yours and put in lots of miles.

    • @diegofitzgerald
      @diegofitzgerald 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Price seems about right, as long as it doesn’t need much. I paid $2200 but spent another $1,500 afterwards for a new battery, tires and a full service. But now it’s in excellent shape and is ready for riding season. It’s been a great bike and fits me well, handling is good and while it’s a little heavy, it’s not the behemoth that K bikes became in future generations. As sport touring bikes go, it does everything well.

  • @n1ydy
    @n1ydy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Happy Holidays to you and yours. Im also looking at a similar bike, a 94 that has 51k but is red ( too bad, i like grey better). My question is, what would be a reasonable offer to make for a bike that needs tires and a battery and doesnt come with that lovely seat? Thanks!

    • @diegofitzgerald
      @diegofitzgerald 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I bought this bike, it needed the same; new tires and a battery and it needed them right away. And being the middle of December, I managed to negotiate a deal for $2,250. Tires and an OEM battery installed were about $750. So in all I spent $3,000 for a bike that was ready to ride, and because of the great cosmetic condition it was in, I was comfortable with that. Since then, I spent an additional $1,200 for the “two year service” which included replacing ALL fluids and filters, a new front brake switch and a few other adjustments. So now I’ve got $4,200 in it and I’ve got a tremendously good classic sport touring BMW that I couldn’t be happier with, is very reliable and needs nothing. And I must say, that Russell Day-Long seat is awesome, especially with the Air Hawk seat pad. Happy holidays to you too and let me know if you get the bike and have any more questions!

      Thanks. Yes, they’re a little harder to find than a newer K1200LT, the replacement for this one. I do like the fact that it’s lighter than later models. This one needed new tires, battery and a few other things for a total of about $2000 spent on it in the 10 months since I bought it. But it’s completely ready now and in great health and runs and rides great. I’ll likely keep this bike. It’s comfortable, fast and handles pretty good for a 620 lb. bike.

      daniel potter well, yes and no. The motor is bulletproof but mine had a few electrical glitches and the tach wouldn't reset to zero often. The other thing you have to keep in mind is the lack of dealers for service issues. And the Tuono is one of the most "high strung" bikes I've ridden. Fun but not particularly relaxing.

    • @diegofitzgerald
      @diegofitzgerald 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hunter Cofer thanks for the message. Actually the risers were there when I bought the bike. The previous owner had put several aftermarket items on it including the risers, Corbin seat, saddlebags, etc. That was one of the reasons I bought the bike, it came with all the goodies I would have put on it anyway. I'm not sure what brand they were (I've since sold the bike) but it was indeed one of the most comfortable sport bikes I've ridden. I bought an '85 Honda V65 Magna recently to replace it - I want to be able to stretch my legs - so this is my first cruiser. It's fun but a totally different ride, a more raw experience, definitely not the refined ride of the VFR800. Anyway, all the best and keep riding!

Many newer female riders, especially ones who are a little shorter than average are relegated to cruisers.
