Can people build their own SAK through you?
How mutch you take for an moded knife 🦉😊
I see channels doing mediocre reviews of SAKs getting thousands of views while you are under the radar. It’s a travesty! Inspiring videos and great work man. Keep it up
I just stumbled across your video, and I thought to myself, those parts look similar to what I designed. So I checked your link to Printables and it was to my design. Amazing! I’m so glad they worked for you. 🖖
Awesome if you have all this stuff lying around. The cost of those scales is probably not much less than the cost of a Manager on Ebay.
So damn cool, great work mate!
I searched for this video. I have the Victorinox Signature Lite and the Rambler. I alao want to change scales and I will get The Midnight Manager and Classic SD. But there are a battery and a little bit electricity, too. Thank you for video!
I like the combination of tools 👍👍
Maybe it's just me but I found that the guide rode are too soft and bend easily which completely ruins the action and once bent it's impossible to restore them back to perfectly straight and they would just bend again anyway. I never got anything close to razor sharp using the stones the At come with the kit but that's probably because the rods bend as soon as you start using them. Imho it's better than nothing but not by much and definitely not worth the money.
I call it WOW
Greatttt work!
Just great! But I'd keep the Plus Scales for the pen and pin. Your two-layer Yeoman is the best SAK of them all.
Yeoman XS
What size screws are you using to fix the block to the Z axis, also do you use the same block to Z axis screws on both this Z axis and also the linear rail Z axis? Cheers in advance.
Really nice custom SAK…maybe a good name would be the Adventurer?
That is lovely !
Very nice, I like it!
glad it was purely add-on and no removal, as that would start negating the 'viability' of the purchase.
In my previous video about the CNC project I did a full cost breakdown of each part purchased and I mention there it would be pretty much the same price to buy one with all these upgrades from the factory. However, I wanted to learn about CNCs as I go so I decided from the beginning to start with a 3018 and set up all the upgrades to it myself.
Got the Deluxe a few months back which took me a few goes to get used to. Now Im cutting my fingers on all the great sharp blades I have. Good bit of kit out of all the other methods Ive tried in the past this is the best
I remember someone fitting a classic size set of scissors on the back-spring. But I like the bit holder idea even better.
hello, very nice idea to buil its own SAK. May i suggest you an other 2 layer configuration , if it works, i think it could a perfect urban EDC : 1st layer : blade + awl of alox. Back : corkscrew + mini screwdriver 2st layer : scisor. Back : 58mm combo phillips. With plus scales. If possible replace toothpick by a small pike to unlock sim card.
😊
The 58 mm scissors on the bottom layer are absolutely genius! I've never seen anything like this before! Now I have a new dream SAK: Layer 1: Knife and Reamer, punch (like the Pioneer) Layer 2: Inline Phillips, and both the can opener and bottle opener on the opposite side. Layer 3: Pliers. Bottom layer: 58 mm scissors (like in this video). All bundled together with the Plus scales, and it's a winner! Basically it's a Tinker Deluxe on steroids for comfort - the toolset is very similar but the awl and philips will be inline so they are much more comfortable to use while the compromise is the scissors. @Hyper_D Will you make my dream come true?
I might! Sounds like a great set of tools. I have some backlog going on at the moment and I’m only making videos when it’s something special I think people would be interested in, and your idea does sound like it is…
Call it ‘The Graphic Designer’! How much?!
Good job! I thought about creating something similar as an additional bit storage for Cybertool, so I can have 1 more bit instead of a corkscrew. In my opinion, you can design this bit holder to be a little bit longer, so the bit will be more secure in place, especially when you take the knife out of pocket etc. It will make a manufacturing process harder, but it won't affect the slickness of the knife
Interesting idea! I have some other new backtool solutions also coming up in the future
Is there any way to get a nail file on it too? And perhaps a 74mm scissor instead of the 58mm? I would love to get one (or 2) of these with pliers.
Well everything is possible if you make it happen! However with just these two layers that would be a big compromise in one direction or another. A nail file could be swapped in for the combo tool, there is a small nail file on the 84mm models that would fit. 74mm scissors will be too long for the backside tool slot so they would need to be shortened and modified heavily thus defeating the purpose. Pliers obviously would add an extra layer and a thick one at that.
Interesting videos, subscribed. Where are you from?
Same country as I assume by your name that you are :)
@@Hyper_D No niinhän minä aksentista kuuntelinki. On hienompaa kuin minun englannin molkotus.
Did you have to drill the tools for bigger wholes to use pivot barrels ?
Usually no. The pivot barrels come as a set, where they are the same exact sizes as the original pins are. So if you use standard tools from the same size knife, they should fit directly just like with pins.
Wow, can you share where you bought those pivot barrels ? I have searched but never found same size as the brass rivets. We're talking 2.2 and 2.5mm ?
I have a large stock of them so I can’t know for sure where exactly these are from, but I have bought both from Aliexpress where they come usually packed with scales, as well as Etsy where you can buy just the barrels and screws separately.
Brilliant. Using the small scissors on the back is a perfect solution, esp since the mid sized scissors are no longer in production. Since the combo tool and nail file may be used for light duty Phillips head work, placing a nail file instead of the Phillips would add an excellent functionality, also using + scales. Great work.
Good tool set. Bigger scissors?
Interesting concept
In your first Video you mention there are many tool options for the opposite of philips screwdriver. What other options are there apart from the different generation Magnifying glasses Spike Verry glad I found your chanel. I hope i can resisit from ordering one of your builds :)
Other options I’ve seen and done opposite the inline philips would be a wrench from an Evo S557 or both the can opener and cap lifter together side by side.
Call it «Brilliant».
I have the Dimond one, which is perfect. there's no need for other sharpening systems
Have you used the standard one at all? What do you consider the main benefits of the diamond set?
U won't fix it without installing OpenNept4une firmware =] And emmc adapter is needed too, yup.
I do have an emmc usb adapter. Maybe I will get a spare emmc chip and try OpenNept4une on my printer with it!
@@Hyper_D u won't be disappointed with it for sure. I have no z-offset issues for now at my n4pro and made a perfect first layer already. The twisted axis macros helped with it in my case, theŗe's a mentioning of it in the manual of that custom firmware.
I bought the same three stone Lansky many many years ago and found it to be a brilliant and easy way to keep my knife sharp. After many years the plastic on one of the stones went brittle so I decided to buy a new kit with five stones rather than just replace the old set. I found the oil that come with the new set went very sticky and the stones would clog and screech over the steel which never happened with the old set. Not sure if Lansky have changed hands since my first buy but the product just doesn't feel the same although still does a nice job. The unbranded one you see that look the same are rubbish I bought one by mistake and sent it back.
Is the new set of the same type but just with more stones? Or is there some difference in them?
@@Hyper_D Yes the new one has five stones red-green-blue as before with an extra black 70 extra coarse and a yellow 1000 ultra fine. the box is a little different as well it has 40 years stamped where the old box has Lansky and the opening catch is different. The knife holder looks to be brushed alloy as the old one is steel. I come with all the original instructions and cardboard cover like the old set but maybe this one is a fake as well. The first fake I bought never had any Lansky markings on anything and the stones didn't match the correct coarse. It still does the job but wishing I'd bought the Dimond set.
The substantial tool on the modified knife is great, but I’d still be tempted to use the combo tool. Wish they made a more sturdy one
It would be good to see the opener combo tool used more, giving room for another tool.
You can easily open up the hidden 4th scale tool slot. Felix Immler has a tutorial which I used
Yes, I’ve also seen it! Maybe I’ll try on a future project
Nice 3018! Do yourself a favor and buy the Genmitsu dust shoe. You'll have zero dust and can rid of the plastic box..
I think the Genmitsu one will not fit the spindle I have? Most probably I will 3D model and print a suitable shoe though, it is a good idea!
Nice video, linear rails are an absolute must, especially because your new spindle is further away which increases the leverage effect, it would be great to replace the leadscrews with ballscrews as well.
Wow 400v. 3 phase, i don't even have 220v. to my (2+1 with loft) garage, and it'd be a 6 month wait and probably super expensive here. Not sure I could get 440v. I wonder what kind of plot size you have available, maybe also go up (2nd story) and/or underground (basement)?
We have 3 phases coming into every building where I live. The regular wall outlets are two phases with 230V and things like ovens, hobs and sauna stoves are usually wired with the third phase to a total of 400V. So it’s just a matter of installing new fuses and routing a cable from the house junction box to the shed (or anywhere) to get that. Most ”pro” equipment use 3 phase 400V here and it’s not really any more expensive to have that installed compared to the regular 230V.
I think this could be very useful for "lost foam casting", particularly if the casted objects are in Aluminum, because you could then also machine it on this CNC.
That’s a good idea! I’ve never done any casting but it sounds like something I could get into
This spindle is not near 800w and PSU is simply dangerous - you have mains (!) voltage on your knob
The spindle PSU is internally fused and I trust the connection to mains that I did which is also additionally surge protected and grounded. And to be clear, the potentiometer controls 24V DC output, not the 230 AC input. Yes, the real power of the spindle might be lower but as the advertised and usually discussed rating was 800w, that’s what I used as explanation. Might be interesting to measure it and see the reality!
@@Hyper_DI do believe this is the same PSU as here: th-cam.com/video/lqOe9Z4gyFM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zMBv3T-SJj0csMh0&t=187 So it is not isolated from mains at all...
That’s a great video. The PSU looks similar but it’s not 100% the same. There is no ground connection on it, only the 2 live AC lines and the video creator confirms that in the comments. Mine is grounded from the case. Anyway, I would definetly only suggest any AC electrical connections if you are confident on how to do it safely!
@@Hyper_D It is exactly the same PSU, your also does not have proper ground connection (yes, you can ground the case). But that does not matter, what is important - this PSU is not isolated at all, mains voltage is everywhere. It is just illegal in EU.
I have the Bantam in Alox 84mm. Has a blade and the combo tool. Wish Victorinox made one with the scissors as well.
They used to! There is an 84mm Golfer and Voyageur, both have a blade, combo tool and scissors. Golfer has cellidor scales and back tools while Voyageur is the Alox Bantam with scissors.
@@Hyper_D I read that the machine that made the scissors for the 84mm broke, and having absorbed Wenger and their 85mm line, Victorinox didn't consider repairing or replacing it to be important.
I have read the same story 😁. It’s an interesting mystery, I am not sure if we will ever learn the truth. Personally I am suspicious of the machine breaking story as they stopped selling the last 84mm scissors in 2008 and only bought Wenger in 2014. Also the scissors among other tools are stamped out of sheet metal which would suggest to me that the machines used are not very unique but rather use dies or similar to stamp out shapes.
@@freman007is kind of strange they dont fix that machine.
uhm really should give that Y-axis more room to breath.. at least an inch or two you have your harness backing right against the wall... any who thanks for the heads up on the software have the Plus and Max versions of the Neptune 4
I’m was moving the printer in and out of the cabinet several times when filming the videos. It might have been that it was temporarily up against the wall there. Normally there is ample space for every axis to move properly and the cables are not snagging. But thanks for the heads up!
Promo-SM 😑
They haven't offered me the new module (yet) but I ordered the EMMC module adapter which I guess needs to be flashed with an Raspberry Pi Image file. Hope that fixes it.
It’s not a RasPI inside it but rather another similar computer. Don’t flash a RasPI image on it, you can get the official Elegoo image from them!
So I received a custom 2 layer SAK from eBay today. Similar to a Compact but in 84mm, with a primary blade and combo tool. Instead of a hook, it has an awl. Normally this is rare on Victorinox. But the scissors were definitely from a Wenger, so I suspect that is the secret to incorporating an awl and scissors on the front and back layers. It also has Philips instead of a corkscrew. Absent are the pen and pin on these particular 84mm scales. Still i wish Vic would consider awl & Philips as a factory 2 layer offering.
The Compact is by far the best sak for everyday EDC urban use. That's why they can charge for it. The Compact just makes sense. Do they overcharge? Yes they do but I still choose it.
