Most of my videos are multitrack performances of songs originally recorded by the spectacular Finnish vocal ensemble Rajaton www.rajaton.net. For future videos I plan on recording my own compositions and some other a cappella genres.

With the home-confinement I decided to start uploading more frequently, which means I'll do fewer takes for each part, so please excuse the mistakes! This is Hymn of the Publican and the Pharisee, from Georgy Sviridov's Canticles and Prayers, and written at some point between 1980 and 1997. I sang it with The Esoterics a couple years ago.

This video is just the ending bit of a song that I enjoy. I'm half-done a couple of longer things at the moment, and I hope to finish those to get some more substantial stuff up here. I can't figure out who wrote it, but I'm working on it. People might call this the "barbershop" style, but actually there aren't any dominant-seventh chords, so it's not really.

Nice work! I first found your videos while looking for Rajaton stuff... Anyway, what I actually wanted to ask was what you'd recommend software-wise? I'm trying to do a virtual choir thing with my currently isolated choir in London, and I can't find the right package to use! What do you find works well?
Thanks! I used Cubase and Corel VideoStudio Pro for this video. Doing it for a whole choir would be hard - it's tons of work to sync up a large number of videos. I'm actually planning on doing that for my choir too, so we'll see how it goes. Good luck!
@@michaelsaunders77 just an update on this, we did it! I gave that Corel thing a quick go, but it was Windows only and my PC isn't up to it! I ended up with the slightly crummy but working Wondershare Filmora on my MacBook, ending up with this: th-cam.com/video/U7my-9KpSus/w-d-xo.html

Thanks! Nope, the tuning is all natural here. I like hearing that comment - haha! I did do a lot of takes though, and listened to each one pretty carefully to find imperfections like tuning problems and rerecord. If you look carefully you'll find a couple tuning issues I missed, like at 0:25 and 1:13.

I got it in from their website around 2004! I think they removed it a couple years later, unfortunately. I wanted to get another one and wasn't able to find one.

Great performance! I payed with trumpet this song arranged by Ossi Runne in 1978 at Unicef concert in Finlandia-Talo, Helsinski. President Urho Kekkonen came to shake my hand after the song because he told me it was his favourite finnish folk song. I was so proud of that shake ;)

I'm a Finnish mother of a two-year-old boy. I played your song when I was pregnant with him and after he was born. It is today his favourite. He listens to it all quiet and very intensely. It is also the only song which will make him quiet down when we are having trouble going to sleep. Thank you very much!
