here's a little waltz...
Hello! Here's a little waltz i wrote a few weeks back in musescore (but moved over to logic to get a nicer sounding piano).
Hope you enjoy it!

orchestration of a four part chorale
มุมมอง 3132 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello! I recently watched a video explaining how to orchestrate using 4 part writing. Because i had already written a little chorale, i decided to have a go at following along... and this is the result! Nothing too special, but it was quite an interesting idea i thought. Hope you enjoy! (and as always, all feedback is welcome!!) #composer #orchestration #musescore #chorale
russian folk piano (inspired by korobeiniki)
มุมมอง 1932 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello! I was trying to think of a melody at the piano today and ended up playing what sounded like the start of the tetris theme. I did some more digging and found it was based on the 19th century Russian folk piece called Korobeiniki and so made this piece based on that style! I've also wrote another short piece in the style which i will upload soon. Hope you enjoy it! Get in touch if you want...
little string composition

Hi there! It's been a while but I'm back with a little 8 bar string quintet that i made in musescore. The sounds used here are the solo strings from musesounds. I enjoyed writing this so i hope you'll like it :) #composer #strings #musescore #orchestra

i attempted to make a creepy jazz track
มุมมอง 1.2K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi there! This is an idea for a track that i had a couple of weeks ago while experimenting making music for a detective horror game which may be released in the future. I wanted it to sound jazzy, but unnerving or creepy to fit the genre. Not a finished track, but just an idea that i had, hope you enjoy :) #composition #logicprox #horrorgaming
this reminds me of minecraft
มุมมอง 1334 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello there! Here's a track i wrote last night that reminded me a lot of the minecraft soundtrack. I hope the sound quality is ok, as when exporting it from logic the mp3 audio was sounding completely different to what i was hearing in the DAW. Anyways, hope you enjoy this ambient piece :) #composition #logicprox #minecraft
an attempt at ragtime piano
มุมมอง 6874 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi there! Here's a little ragtime piece that i'm using as the introduction to a mini scoring of a laurel and hardy film for my final exam. I was inspired by Joplin's music a few weeks ago and had to give it a go myself. Hope you enjoy this little study. #composition #logicprox #ragtime
spaceship landing

my attempt to make jazz
มุมมอง 794 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello there! I wrote this piece a couple of weeks ago using orchestral tools free rotary big band vst, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out for my second jazz composition. It was originally as a composition for a video game, but we've decided on a different genre instead, so i guess I'll just post it here. Hope you enjoy!! #composition #logicprox #jazz

an attempt at chorale harmony
มุมมอง 1.6K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi there! So I've recently been using a bach chorale music book to practice sight reading and after watching a video on harmonising chorales, i took a melody and attempted to harmonise in a 4-part style. I tried to include a couple of bits of counterpoint in there to keep it interesting as well as using things like scalic descents in the bass. Hope you enjoy and i would love any feedback :) #co...
music that plays in paris
มุมมอง 1466 หลายเดือนก่อน
So i've been listening to the soundtrack of 'Amelie' for ages and finally watched it last night. The whole film is really cool, and Yann Tierson's music really helps to pull it together (I recommend giving it a watch!). Anyway, i felt inspired to write a french sounding waltz and i think this works? I know its only short and not very complex but i still liked the sound of it. Maybe i'll try som...

Nice composition, Oscar! 🙂👍
@@TheAbsoluteProduction Thanks! I really enjoyed writing this one so I think I'm gonna try some more string stuff soon :) Also, just checked out some of your music - awesome stuff man!! I've subbed 😁
@@oscarllywelyn Thank you very much, Oscar! I'm glad you liked my music. I spent some time listening to your music too and I really enjoy your music! I'm ready to listen to more of your work. Good luck! 😁

Yoo this was so nice !! I really like the velocity work on the melody, especially when it gets more quiet. This needs more views asap 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣
Thankyou! Sadly youtube only gives me views on tracks that I don't really like 🤣

Thanks 😂 I've got a nice waltz coming this Friday 😎
Now add some drums and stuff to make it more dramatic. Good job on this one
Maybe I should try this haha Thanks!

the melody really sounds like the start of tetris lol, but it sounds really cool
Yup I figured that haha Thanks :)

I'm a professional chef 😎 Thanks!!
This is so pretty!!!
Thankyou!!
Wow, Great usage of dissonance, its beautiful! Question: What application did you use for the visuals? They're great!
Thanks a lot! So I made the piece in musescore and screen recorded that (with dark mode on), then I exported the midi to logic pro and screen recorded that. And I edited it all in davinci resolve with some of the free effects 🙂
how old are you
Ancient. At least 3267 years old I think 🤔 but after that long, it becomes hard to keep track 😪
I like the harmonic textures.
Thanks 🙂
the visualiser is like a little presentation i love it so much the string composition is so full of hope :DDDD
Thank you! I had fun making it all haha
Nice! As an old-school organist I hear a parallel fifth at the end (c-g, a-d). Also, the "Terz" (third?, f#) is missing in the main beat of the second fourth of the last bar.
Thanks :) I'm still learning the rules for chorale writing so the feedback is appreciated!
Nice, I would recommend drenching that High Guitar in a lot of reverb, and also using a snare instead of sidestick for the drum part, since the snare will give things a little more impact. Maybe lower the piano part down an 8ve? And possibly double it with a pad? Other than that though, good job!
Thanks for the detailed feedback! I may revisit this piece but I'm not sure - I haven't been able to compose for the last month or so but I'm just getting back into it again for the summer 🙂
@@oscarllywelyn Yeah, happens to everyone.
what vst are you using for the organ?
It's spitfire labs tape orchestra: vox humana. Completely free 🙂
How do you link it to Musescore or the software you're using if it isn't Musescore
@@Mutuli in musescore 4 and older, open the mixer and click on the sound. From there, you can select external VSTs
Thanks, lemme try.

This is really good. Kind of reminds me of old film scores like George Romeros Martin. It's got that feel to it. Keep developing it into something longer 👍

Thanks lol
Neat! I like this.
Thanks 😁
That sounds great! Which sample libraries are you using if you don’t mind?
Thanks! So the woodwinds are from orchestral tools 'whisper' (I got it on sale for less than half price though, so I'd say wait for a sale unless you have €129 to spare), the strings are all just packs from spitfire labs (scary strings/tape orchestra) and the drum is from labs too. Hope that helps 😁
Oh and I forgot, I used a couple of pads I made on vital 👍
@@oscarllywelyn Cool! Thanks a lot!
@@Taurex np 😁

thankyou 🙂

Nice. Add some drums and you got lofi.
I might actually try this 😂 thanks
@@oscarllywelyn Look up a few videos on lofi if you do try it, just to give you an idea of the execution. Otherwise, not a bad track, reminds me of myself in a way.
@@TheUnknown14 will do, I've got little idea how to make lofi sounding drums atm haha

this is relaxing, shits nice ‼
Thanks 😁
It's pretty peaceful, that's why i love Minecraft's soundtracks in the game, very nice🔥
Same 😂
It’s giving Club Penguin
😂 thanks
This sounds pretty unique! I think some of the swinginess of real jazz is missing but I can't put my finger on what exactly...
Thanks 😁 Hopefully ill be able to improve the jazzy feel as i do more research into jazz haha
This is actually more of a cakewalk than anything! There's no syncopation over the barline... (like with Joplin's Rags). There are a few great videos about this on the internet but I'm too lazy to paste the links here right now.
Oh yeah, thanks for pointing that out! Maybe I can try and just offset the melody by a best to make it syncopated, but idk if it will work?
@@oscarllywelynMy pleasure" Yeah it would work in some spots! I think the melody might need a bit more driving force other than the syncopation in certain spots, though... But try the syncopation first.
@@pjotrkolster thanks, I'll do some more research into ragtime, it's such a cool genre I think!
@@oscarllywelynAgreed! Also it appears youtube has killed my comments twice, now.

What software is this? Garage Band?
I'm using the free trial for logic pro. I used to use garageband and its very similar but just with a few mote features for mixing and visuals ect. There's probably loads more features on logic that I just haven't used though haha
Real good background music for video production.
Glad you like it 🙂
holy crap this kinda sounds like spore :OOO it fits the feeling of wonder and unease of landing on a planet too!!!!
I've never played spore but it's soundtrack sounds really nice, so thank you 😁
:O Awesome!!
Thank you :)
Remember that waltz that we had a whole conversation on? I’m still learning it lol
I remember! Hope you're enjoying it 😂
Kinda sounds like jazz, have you looked into transcribing lead sheets and the whole theory side of it? I haven't gotten into this style very much lately, but I do have videos that lean towards the more jazzy style. Anyway, I think this works overall, though there are some things that sound off, hence why I recommended lead sheets and delving into the theory. I've heard of a video where the Rule of the Octave for Jazz is discussed, so maybe look into that too.
Thanks, I hadn't thought of it from a theory side as it was going to be a track in a video game so I was just looking for a nice sound, but looking into the theory may help me write better and understand the process more so I'll look in to this 👍
@@oscarllywelyn The only caveat I'd be wary of is getting too analytical with things. Try to enjoy the process and don't get too caught up in analysis paralysis, as I've heard.
@@TheUnknown14 yeah, I only really learn theory that will be applicable to the music I want to write :)
Sounds Pretty Groovy to me😎Very, very good! Keep them coming!🔥
Thanks! I enjoyed making this one 😂
Sounds good but the Bass voice is supposed to have notes with stems on the left going down, the "2nd voice" or the green voice on musescore. The tenor voice has notes with stems on the left going up.
Oh really? That makes sense, thanks for the heads up!
@@oscarllywelyn Yeah you'll find it'll look a lot cleaner and nicer.
