This is my favorite Father and son scene in a movie. A man’s Father telling him that a girl loves him for who he is and doesn’t care about his mental illness. And that if he doesn’t wanna listen to him fine. But not to ruin his chance at happiness with a girl that that loves him with all her heart and that life doesn’t always give you a chance at like this at true love and happiness with someone and that it’ll haunt him and he’ll regret it for the rest of his life if he doesn’t go for it.

McConaughey's performance in these interview scenes is mesmerizing in so many ways, but especially in the way he portrays Rust himself as giving a performance of sorts. The series shows how so much of his pessimistic ideology is a shield to the pain of losing his daughter, and it seems that by 2012 he's basically drank himself into believing in it wholesale (whereas in 95 and 02 he still showed the occasional cracks.) It's also brilliant because everything he tells the detectives does sound exactly like a killer articulating his philosophy.

Love how through the whole movie it’s the Eagles the Eagles the Eagles, but when he saw Pat making a big mistake all he cared about was his son. Even Pats mom, brother and friend stood back because they knew he needed to hear that. Love this scene.

The ghost is seen episode and the monologue unfortunately apply so well to this show as a whole. One of the most criminally underrated series of all time IMO. Not every pearl is found indeed. Masterpiece!
