Interesting watch and I enjoyed seeing the mid to late 30s lemania being worked on, but think your value is way off. But one never knows things can change ant give day. Nice work !
I have a hamilton chronograph, absolutely love the movement. Love the channel 😎🤘❤️
@@joelboyce8961 thank you! This Movement is absolutely astonishing
I can't Imagine what the Next Video will be like when he Drops his Watch down the Toilet ! I suggest you give him a Jam Jar to Keep his Watch in so it doesn't get Wet Again !
As there is only one seal on the crown, and it was the dirtiest, if you are sure you did a good job, then he must not have screwed down the crown?
Love the commentary; you're doing great. The non-talking kind of video is less interesting.
I'm not sure, but I think the flat gasket at the bottom of the crown shouldn't be lubricated. If you lubricate it the friction will be lost and the crown can unscrew if the client moves his hand. I think it is better to leave it dry.
... this does not happen overnight ... the owner is at fault ... seeing a man swimming with a watch, rest assured, he is a show-off and deserves this damage ...
You did a great job, I would have just tossed it and just bought a new movement lol
It's got "Diver's" with the apostrophe. It's not unreasonable to believe you can swim with it.
"I wouldn't go swimming with a mechanical watch" yeah, because getting water in a quartz watch would be so much better.
Just discovered your channel. Really enjoying it. Thanks very much! Keep it up.
This person wanted a cheap repair from a hobbiest and only a dummy takes any watch must less a waterproof watch into salt water. I would have also fixed it but I would tell him if he wants a water resistant go to a jeweler and pay the price. We as hobbiest put up with to much crap from a person that wants a freebie. I do not do any work for anyone anymore because these people are never satisfied and expect Rolex repair service at rock bottom prices. Ever since I work on only my own I enjoy this hobby more. My only criticism is using old failed gaskets. I know you refurbished them but in the long run is it cheaper. Finally I would tell him NO warranty! I had one person refuse to pay me but complained she wasn't happy, I finally told her to f-ck off and never contact me again. Enjoyable, not impressed with plastic parts. That's why I never work on citizen watches or any watch with plastic.
I do like the commentary. Having to read subtitles while also trying to pay attention to what's happening on screen is more cumbersome, Great job on this! Also, maybe the crown wasn't fully screwed down when the watch went diving.
You forgot to mention Seiko was also in the race to produce the first automatic chronograph. It's possible they may even have succeeded.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Great work, I want to this, but my mind would not let me put it back together!!😫
You can do it!
he didnt screw down the crown, ive gone diving (with sharks) with a beautiful seiko diver and had 0 issue, the only time i see it get that bad is when the crowns out or a gasket got pinched or the gasket had no silica grease.
also as a side note did you regulate the watch 24 (preferably 30) hours after the service?
Most of the Watches I let run for 24 hours before regulating them.
I would guess it was user error where the owner forgot to tighten the stem down tightly enough... of course, it doesn't help one's reputation to accuse your client when it would be impossible to to really know how it happened. In the future I would have the owner sign off on the repair from the beginning stating that water-proof guarantee can not be achieved.
Do you feel I am accussing someone? If so that’s Not what I intended to.
The owner definitely had the crown not secured before entering the water
Hammer Time 🔨
A Demonstration of the way is should be. Well done.
If it were me and I had an expensive watch that somehow managed to get salt water inside of it...I would immediately seek a fresh water dousing with the caseback removed...followed by WD40 to critical areas of the movement....then some gentle heat to dissipate the moisture. Then, when time would allow...a trip to the watchmaker for a complete overhaul. Assuming a complete loss of lubrication, I would seek to take the mainspring down to zero and leave it unused until after servicing. As for a Miyota 8000 series movement...I would simply replace it in its entirety.
You're too nice, I would have chased him. Anyone with any sense knows that you don't wear a vintage watch in water as you can't guarantee the water resistance. I've had a few older dive watches serviced by a number of brands and they won't guarantee water resistance.
Agree with you!
Wow... To be honest, I thought this watch was beyond repair -- but you did it! Great work! As for what happened that allowed the water inside the watch after your last servicing, is it possible that the case back wasn't tightened quite enough to make it truly water resistant? I can't think of anything else that might have gone wrong...
Thank you! It is possible. But it was really tight. I could Not open it with the rubber Ball. I forgot to film it…
Excellent (almost professional!) watchmaking skills, superbly informative and engaging commentary, and yes, your English is excellent as well! Thank you for a really great video. 5*, subscribed! 🤗
Thank you very much!
The guy obviously didn't screw the crown in and blamed you so he didn't have to pay
Ok, serious question. It makes sense in the mind, but do you notice a difference in the outcome? Does it actually make a big difference? I have an old L&R that doesn't auto-reverse.
Yes in my opinion it made a difference. The high end machines all change direction
@UhrenDantler thanks for the reply. Mine has a reverse button, so I always press it a few times 😅 I'd love to be able to get the new elma, but just no way to justify it. Maybe I can come play with yours haha
Best machine in existence. That's great! Can I come over and play with it? Haha, 🌟
Absolutely!
Simply buy a Miyota movt for replacement. Switch the rotor and day+date disc. You will get a new watch.

Agree with other comments. Probably didnt screw down the crown. Maybe going forward make it a part of your service agreement that you cannot pressure test watches past 5atm. I know a lot of repair shops do the same. Also if it’s a vintage watch that hasn’t been fully tested, I would never swim with it in the ocean. Great video and keep up the good work.
Now you're gonna get it dirty!
Hopefully it gets clean!
Maybe your customer forgot to screw the crown on before going into the water..?
Yeah nobody on this planet brags about having a watch with a Miota movement in it. Go All out and install a modern Seiko Day/Date movement.
Is it even worth fixing 😂
No, clickbait plastic trash rotten rusted 🗑
How long did this watch sit after the leak, months? If it would’ve been addressed immediately, the damage would have been minimal.
i see an 8205 movement is like 70 euros...i would just buy a new movement
Did you clean the back side of the dial?
Yes I did. But did not film
Bro forgot to check/tighten the crown! Nice refirb though, great patients :)
Thank you!
I have watched so many movement repairs and watch "restoration" videos, but this style with narration I would say is the best form of these videos.
Nice to hear!
Great work, and I enjoy the commentary. Very well done. Edit: There's no doubt that it leaked. Assuming the case is water tight, my only guess is that the crown wasn't screwed down tight.
Excellent work and a beautiful result! Definitely more than a "hobbyist." We all know why water got inside, but he'll never admit it. I hope he's very grateful to you, and I hope the video gets 10M engagements to more than cover your loss.
Thank you for your Kind words!
You did a tremendous job!
Thank you!
Speaking of automotive products, break fluid cleaner does wonders on some parts!
I will try that!
Great work: 👍👌👏! I would prefer it if you did talk a bit less, though - 😊.
Haha ok!
@@UhrenDantler The amount of talking you did was great. Please don't talk less.
A nice video and an excellent work. Thank you. As many people already suggested in the comments, the possibility of an user error is high. Or the gaskets where really dry and you solved the problem by greasing them this time.
I greased them in the First Service too… Thank you for your words!
really nice video, thanks for sharing
I love miyota, the vintage moviment Is the same of now buy. You can change metallic old parts whells and calendar
Very nice work
Yeah good Movement!
