Thanks for the detailed explanation. you probably thought about it, but wouldn't it be easien to make the boards narrower before cutting the triangles? Wouldn't that get rid of the extra cut in between? I'll rewatch later, maybe I missed something...

Amazing work, just as I’ve come to expect from you. I went looking for a Patreon account to follow but couldn’t find one. If you ever got around to making one, please point me in its way. If you didn’t, please reconsider. And feel no pressure to post anything there if you’re short on time; the material you’ve already made available for free is plenty to warrant a few followers over there.

Hi Eli, Fantastic video and a great explanation on how to do it all too! I like the idea that you show that these amazing pieces can be done without breaking into Fort Knox! Many of us can't afford the best of the best so it helps to know that we can do beautiful/intricate pieces with the tools and equipment that we do have! The homemade hole saws are a great idea and something we can make ourselves! Thanks for the video and everything! Tom

Hi, Eli. I just came across you in the wood turning tool exchange when you commented on the 3520B. So glad I followed further to find your Facebook and then your TH-cam channel. I started watching tour video on the inlaid globe and couldn't pull myself away. I binged watched videos 3, 4, and 5. I understand about not wanting to share your methods. I don't have the crazy mad skills you have and haven't made anything that nearly compares. Your work is amazing. I've looked for the follow up video and can't find it. I'm pretty sure from this point I can see what is the rest, but I'd really enjoy seeing the completion of this project. I suspect that was the Christmas ornament challenge video. Great work. Thank you for all you did. I didn't think I wanted to do segmenting, but now I have ideas that I want to try. I enjoy your videos, they aren't production they are real.

Don't bother about how long the video lasts - it is what it is, and it is a detailed process and stunning results, so it was worth the effort. Curious on how you transitioned over that top shoulder for the rings. Two channels drilled from different angles along the axis?

So cool to finally see how you did the rings! Very innovative/creative. You're quite the artist and very proficient on the HF lathe. Do you think you'll ever upgrade? I'm about to upgrade from manually changing belts to variable speed, reverse and much more power and clearance but it's only something I'll do now that I've spent several years working on a "basic" machine learning, understanding and becoming passionate about turning. Only then would I allow myself to entertain the thought of owning a $3,000 machine.
