  • I’m covering the sanding and buffing process for my finish work. This should add to my 2017 Christmas ornament challenge. This ornament is segmented and inlayed

I’m also in the granite industry. What epoxy are you using?

Thanks for uploading this mate, for the epoxy coating do you use casting epoxy like artresin or a surface/bartop epoxy? , also do you pour rub or paint it on?

Mark Hobster I’m a granite fabricator. So I used an epoxy used for repairing granite. It’s a penetrating epoxy and it’s what I had on hand. It’s about the consistency of mineral oil. I painted it on with a foam brush and torched it lightly to get rid of bubbles. I have used casting acrylics and polyesters. I prefer urethane tho.

Eli Polite thanks buddy, yeah I have used casting polyester resin a few times and you have to be careful when adding hardner so it doesnt become too brittle, even recommended measures are brittle so I used about 60% of recommended hardner and its then very tough but still prone to a slight chip out of not mixed very well.
Ill have a look for something like you used 👍

Mark Hobster same with the epoxy I guess all finishes are touchy. This was my first tickle using epoxy. It came out nice
