My Healing From Long-Term Fatigue with Valerie White and NES Health
Many people end up with a chronic fatigue-type problem or post-viral syndrome after an illness. There seems to have been a big rise in this since the pandemic. Long-term fatigue got it's claws into me at the start of 2020, and it took me ages to recover.
This is my experience of finding Valerie at Lilywhite Therapies towards the end of my healing journey, and getting over my fatigue solidly, in a way that I trust I won't slip backwards again.
There is no wonder drug for most of us. We need a combination of what our body and mind is missing.

Hi, thank you for sharing your video! I am running the Wimbledon half this weekend, is the hill that bad? Xx
Good to see you back on TH-cam. Are you still running?
I’m really glad to hear you’ve recovered, I remember you explaining about your fatigue a while ago and it sounds like you went through the mill with it all. We all take our health for granted sometimes! Onwards and upwards now
Good to see you back again. Such a shame about so many HMs being cancelled, but obviously for the best. Hope you can get all the health issues sorted.
Rock Album Unboxing thank you 😊
Hi Sarah, sounds like you’re getting it worked out, 4 Marathons in one year is a lot, did you do many marathons per year in the last few years as we’ll? Should get a 2nd & 3rd opinion from doctors regarding the Thyroid, very important the thyroid controls most of the hormones in the body, T1, T2 & T3 & TSH good luck
Go Kiwi yeah thyroid is a tricky one. I’ve been tested twice but UK GPs (so far) have only tested my TSH and T4, so I don’t have the full picture. It’s hard to get help with unless you go private I think. But it’s something I’ve got my eye on 😉
Hi Sarah. Another great video. Hope that keeping a diary helps. Take care. Stephen
Thank you 😊
Great update. I dont know much about this stuff but I have heard that thyroid issues (as you mentioned) can prevent weight loss, dont know why.... but ive heard that, along with over active adrenal system. Also, stress, cortisol is a big factor in weight loss normally caused by stress. Plus current medication can be causing it by slowing metabolism down? So many avenues to explore... I hope you shed some light on it
The FOD Runner yeah me too! I’m lucky I’ve got medical friends to bounce ideas around with ✨😉 thanks Andy 😊
Hi Sarah, good luck with your 10k & half marathon coming up, I had fatigue going on back over 10 years ago, doc found I have under active thyroid hyperthyroidism took awhile to find out what was the best thyroxine meds to be on, back then only one brand was funded, people got together & complained to the government, finally more brands are now funded, the first few I got on felt worse, the One I take now is called synthriod very good no problems for over 10years, & you are right about the gut health bacteria probiotics, kombucha, & fermented Cabbage meant to be good for excellent probiotics, thanks, good videos, 👍
Go Kiwi thanks that’s really good to know about. I’ve been meaning to try Kimchi, going to get some ASAP 🤗
Hope the diary helps. Very best of luck at Hyde Park & Landmarks.
MrCol104 thanks Col 👍✨
Hi. Good luck getting to the bottom of the fatigue issue. Hope it’s sorted. Nice cat, by the way!
Rock Album Unboxing thank you 😊 😻
Nice video. You did well to survive that ridiculous amount of mud. Glad the training is (mostly) going OK.
Rock Album Unboxing thanks 🙏 so far so good 😊
Great video. I am training for a half marathon too and know what you mean about self-imposed pressure. Remembering why you enjoy it is important!
Rock Album Unboxing so true! Which half are you doing?
Running With My Mind - Hi. Planning to do the Big Half in March. Have a long way to go before I am ready...
Rock Album Unboxing ooh awesome! Should be fun. I’ve got London landmarks first, then Gatwick half, then Vitality 10 in May. I was really lucky with applications this year 🤗
Running With My Mind - Good luck! That’s a lot of running. Looking forward to hearing how you get on.
Rock Album Unboxing thank you, will film as much as I can. Good luck with yours too 😎
Looks like you were standing right next to me on that final corner back over the bridge - I didn't even realise you were filming...
James Spinks lol 😆 you were the Marshall I was talking to? I had my go pro on my chest strap 😉
@@runningwithmymind4638 Yep, what a great day. I couldn't run either due to an injury - hope you're back at it now?
James Spinks today is day one of my half marathon block 😁 how about you?
@@runningwithmymind4638 Sadly not yet, I'm a week into my post-surgery recover, so hopefully very soon...
James Spinks oh gosh, you must be so bored of it by now! 🤦🏻♀️
That looked like a fun race! You’re right about etiquette for runners needing a push on social
Dan Runs it was really fun 🤗
I've been hovering between vegan and vegetarian for the last 3 months or so - cheese is always my downfall! Plus sometimes I just want a bit of milk in my coffee. Overall though, because I'm always now looking at the ingredients of everything, I was shocked just how much "stuff" is added - half the things I can't even pronounce. A big thing that helps me though is to make big simple batches of food - either soups or rice/bean/veg/tofu mixes, then freezing into smaller containers. Means I always have "goto" food after a run etc instead of going for some of the "processed" vegan stuff which has all those unpronounceable ingredients! And if any of my concoctions taste a bit bland, I just coat it with crushed chili flakes - they make anything taste good!
Ooh chilli! I have had a few bland meals lately, must try the chilli!
Also check out Challenge22 dot com for new to vegan support
For me, when I went vegan 4+ years ago the biggest factor in improving my physical, mental and emotional well being was ditching the dairy. I learned that it was the one thing that was really messing me up. Like everything it takes time to adjust and your body will centre itself. Any questions feel free to get in touch! Also check out channels like Happy Pear, Simnett Nutrition and Avande Garde Vegan for some ideas on cheese replacement style dishes :) Nutritional Yeast turns pasta cheesy!
Dan Runs ah cheers dude. I’m really hoping to feel a lot better once the dairy has finished working it’s way out. I’m going to have to go try that vegan subway now! 🤗✨
@@runningwithmymind4638 So many options!

Well done, didn't see you there, would have run past you!! You got the atmosphere of it, wasn't it a great day!!
It was fab! I did look out for a 'Sandra' bib but didn't spot you either. Did you here the news that this year was the last of the 26.2 distance for Bournemouth? How did you enjoy your run? Any tough bits / highlights?
Running With My Mind yes it's a shame, I'm sure we would have done it again next year, we had a good break, from the Thursday to Monday. The was only the one bit I thought was tough, that was the long hill coming off the beach, it seemed to go on a bit! But I enjoyed every minute of it! Even all the out-and-backs, and the weather was perfect! There were some who did the half and then the marathon straight after, amazing in itself but they also had to get to the start line in Boscombe, nearly 4 miles from the finish of the half! Well you be doing more marathons next year? We are thinking of Chester.
Sandra Rowland woah, half and full together! I’m def sticking with half’s for the next six to twelve months. Want to focus on my speed before going back to marathon distance again. Although Brighton is always tempting for me... Manchester sounds fun!
Running With My Mind sounds like a good plan, it's more doable training for the 10k and half, I'll be doing a half in April, and I'm looking forward to shorter long runs for sure! I've heard it was quite windy at Brighton this year. Yes Manchester looks like it would be good!
Sandra Rowland it was windy at Brighton, but I like that. I’m always too hot and sweaty 😂
That sounds like great fun! I’ve not heard of a quarter marathon before :)
Yeah I think it's a pretty unusual distance for a race. Really nice location :D
Watching this gets me excited for my first Marathon in March 2020!
ReadUpCaveMan *EDITED Just visited your channel and you’re going ultra from scratch? So impressed! Will be following the journey through my little screen 🤓
Great work getting out there and supporting others!
Dan Runs ah thank you. It’s the perfect excuse for me to yell at people in the street lol 😂 but seriously... I love watching races, it’s so inspiring.
Marathon training can be the most debilitating thing we do if other elements in life aren't balancing as well. It needs all the stars to align to get through a good marathon training block! You've made the right call, I am running my race in October for fun and I am buzzing for it now so you've definitely made that right choice. Enjoy Bournemouth, enjoy running again and then tackle the marathon as/when you are ready!
The FOD Runner ah thanks Andy. I saw you were getting busy with your work too. Priorities etc 😂 I am looking forward to my upcoming half’s now 😎
Good call, run because you want to and because you enjoy it ✊ You'll have a whale of a time at Bournemouth with no pressures, plenty of time to go for speed or distance next year - running will always wait for you!!
Hey, sorry, I started replying earlier then my wifi went mad lol. I'm so looking forward to Bmth now the pressure is off. I'm even looking forward to a hill run tomorrow <3
One poor session doesn't mean too much, just that you have had a poor session, onwards to the next :) Oh and I love running in the rain, I'll wear my trail shoes and get outside.. but then I'm probably just odd!!
Tyres and Trainers during Venice Marathon last year there was sun, rain, hail and the Acqua Alta flood - and it was the most fun ever 🌧 made for hilarious race pics 😂
Seen your update in the description about pulling out. That's fair enough, got to list to your body and even though 4 weeks seems like enough time to maybe get back on track, those long runs and the taper period are really important. There are plenty of other marathons though! So if you choose one not too far in the future, you might be able to carry on where you left off regarding the training instead of starting from scratch.
Will Claxton yeah I could do, but I’m thinking I should just focus on my half in October then see how I go. It’s nice to take the goal pressure off for a bit. I had two marathons back to back in the spring, and my work is busy, so maybe I just wore myself out. Right now I’m craving sleep and yoga 🧘♀️
@@runningwithmymind4638 Yah, get that medal, then re-assess! I tried yoga once, I felt about 6 inches taller afterwards lol
Good waffle. Have you noticed if the decision has had any effect fatigue-wise?
Will Claxton ah thanks dude. Yes it totally has! Just knowing there is less struggle ahead of me has lightened my load. I also treated myself to new Brooks this week, which gave me a little boost too 😎
Great openness you have. I'm no medical expert on depression and anxiety, but i saw this video which put a perspective about "depression" you may find interesting th-cam.com/video/ykvC3QXJb18/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for sharing, it was really informative. Take care of yourself, they’ll always be more races to take part in
Very true, thank you Dan :D
Sounds like a good idea, enjoy Bournemouth without all the hassle! Running's supposed to be enjoyable! 😎🏃🏼♀️
Thank you! Hey, I might get to watch you finish at Bmth now!
Ha ha! Yes but you might have a long wait!! Would be good to meet you! 😁
@@abitfringe You too! I wonder if they will have a tracking app so I can find you on the course?
Running With My Mind will have to investigate that!!😁
This looks great!
Dan Runs our third go, different location each time. Going to have to do them all lol 😂
@@runningwithmymind4638 I've never been to one but i've heard great things!
They both looked like good fun! I'm in North Wales so the RunThrough events don't reach here, but I've found a few potentials to go for. However, that's all dependent on my (as yet totally unplanned) travel plans too
Will Claxton looking forward to see what you end up booking. So many races to choose from now, it’s become such a big industry 🏃🏻♀️
Great looking events! I had looked into doing it but squeezing it all in was going to be problematic :)
Ooh are you local to Wimbledon? We are thinking of going back for the Xmas RunThrough on the common.
@@runningwithmymind4638 I'm just down the A3, so not too far at all!
Dan Runs cool 😎 might see you at a future race then 👍
love the medals! 2 races in one week 😎 Wimbledon common looks like a bit of a toughie for running, not my cuppa tea!I prefer tarmac all the way! You were lucky with the weather, hoping it's like that for Bournemouth!
I’m not a fan of hills either, and I’m always picking stones out of my shoes on the common, even with gaiters on 😂 yeah hope Bournemouth is a clear day, the sea air will be lovely 🌊
@@runningwithmymind4638 Maybe you should re-name your channel "Running with my gaiters 😂😂" ha ha! The hill at mile 20 at Bournemouth - I've already decided I'm walking up that!!!!
Sandra Rowland 😂 sub heading: there’s slightly less debris in my shoes than normal... Ah the hill. The hill at Brighton had me liking this year, so don’t be near me on the hills I guess 😝
@@runningwithmymind4638 Ha Ha watch out the name might stick! Oh dear, I'll remember to keep clear!!! so looking forward to the marathon challenge, only marathon I did (years ago!) I messed up royally (walked most of it probably!!!)
Sandra Rowland I’ve done a looooot of walking in several of mine - still counts though 💪😉
I need to find some 5k and 10k races to run - my one race medal is looking a bit lonely! I have a couple of half marathons to run in my training plan though, but not sure where I'll be running them. I've bookmarked the saltstick fastchews, I think I'm going to need them
Will Claxton the chews seem to do more for me that the electrolytes 👍 not the cheapest things but I think they’re worth a go. Maybe RunThrough might have races local to you?
Enjoy the journey and take each day as it comes. It looks like you're on the right path and doing well
Dan Runs thanks Dan 👍
Yeah well done, just get out and do the miles! Good luck for your 2 upcoming races!
Thank you :) I'm really looking forward to them now!
Hope you're starting to feel better now, sod's law that you caught that bug! Onwards and upwards! 😊
So is! Yeah I'm on the mend now thanks - went back to training last night. Such a relief to be able to run again!
haha I'm a right sweaty mess after a mile, but it's all good. I'm going to add in an additional 5km to my weekly mileage by doing the local park run mainly for the social side of things
Will Claxton ooh nice (the Parkrun, not the sweat 😂) I’m chomping through lots of salt stick chews lately in the humidity.
Sounds like a good week! Are you finding the gym sessions help? they have really helped with my running 💪! Didn't realise you were doing the Bournemouth marathon - fab! I went to Bournemouth last week, with my sister, we did the New Forest 10 miles race and stayed in Bournemouth, we really enjoyed our stay, and we're going to enter Bournemouth marathon, that's if we can get the time off work! We have a lot to do in terms of training though, only 11 weeks to go!
Sandra Rowland yes, the cross training helps a lot! Yay great if you can make it to Bournemouth, I think it will be a lovely run 🏃🏻♀️ 🤗
@@runningwithmymind4638 Yes, something to look forward to!
"This too shall pass" - heard that quote earlier today for the first time in a while. It's a good reminder that there are always ups and downs - but they all finish eventually... if only to be replaced by another challenge!
Will Claxton thank you! My extra bit of work is almost over now, and as it passes, the mileage goes up! So yes, totally, but a better challenge replacing a desk-based one. I’m looking forward to the miles 🏃🏻♀️
Ha ha yes, as you say, the video is a little strange! but glad you’re keeping your running goals in mind! Thanks for the shout-out, glad you’re still getting something from the book, and that it’s helping you feel stronger, you’re right, that’s how it makes me feel, just more able to use my muscles when running, better form, or whatever. Well done for ticking off 5 weeks off your running plan, that’s more than I’d manage, I usually start with a plan then it keeps getting changed so much and I eventually just go back to doing my own thing. It would be great to hear more on how the running helps with the stress, (everyone has real difficulties fitting in running I think!) It’s inspiring others as well as helping you! Also more on the running itself, ie how long is the long run, what are the sessions you’re doing? That would be interesting and informative, and good to monitor your progress?
Sandra Rowland it’s funny you say that, I’m just rewriting my trading plan lol 😂 Thomas pointed out in the comments that I probably wasn’t doing enough. So I’m rethinking my workload and upping my mileage- will share in next vlog 👍
@@runningwithmymind4638 ha ha, that's funny! 😂 Looking forward to your next vlog!
Nice to have so many options for running and gyms where you live 😀 We visit our son when we can, in Surbiton, and there's loads of really good routes around there and Kingston. Glad the book is helping; it's not fast weight loss, as it says on the table on p43, that's the only con (of the pro's and cons). With me, I lost 10lb in 3 months, from Nov to beginning of Feb, since then I've stayed at the same weight, with body fat in 99th percentile on p37, so I know I don't need to lose any more, but my body shape is still changing, firming up more on the fatty bits - stomach and thighs - and thickening out more on the skinny bits - chest and shoulders - toning up I guess! It's a lifelong process, which is really easy to stick to, it has become second nature to me now. Good luck with the running club, it all helps with the motivation
Sandra Rowland thank you! Slow weight loss is definitely better, I’m over the yo yo diets for sure 💪
Love this stage in training, you start to feel like your just getting going! Really pleased you ran with a club, it makes such a difference 👌
The FOD Runner it really did! Going to be great for my training 👍
Hi Sarah, glad it's all going well, ha ha, well done for resisting the cakes! I would say just take each training session as it comes, and enjoy that, rather than think of all the tough sessions to come, it might make it easier to get motivated? so pleased you like the book! It's changed my running. I think with the strength training you're doing and the racing weight recommendations you could improve your marathon time by a substantial amount in the time you have.
Sandra Rowland i hope so, I’m going to give it my best shot 💪 this book is excellent, so glad you recommended it! I feel the difference already just from boosting my DQ score 🤗
