Striped Bass Fishing on the Jenn-A in Point Pleasant, NJ
Went out this past weekend (11/30/24) on the Jenn-A to catch some stripers and tog with the bros. This was my first fishing charter ever, and it was quite a memorable experience! I can't thank Captain Tom and First mate Kevin enough for their expertise, guidance, patience, and company throughout the entire trip. Everyone in our group caught fish and we all had a great time.
The waters were a bit choppy so Mikey was sick for half the trip, and I started to get sick after drinking some bourbon which I now regret. Either way, we both ended up recovering and made the most out of the trip.
When I filleted the striper I took home and opened up it's stomach, there were 3 large silvery sand eels inside.
My apologies to younger viewers for not editing out the foul language in this video, there was too much to edit so I decided to leave it all in.. so viewer discretion advised.

My Preferred Tautog / Blackfish Rig for Jetty Fishing & How To Package It

Below are some things I forgot to mention in this video: Advantages of this Rig: 1) Highly sensitive since it's a direct connection to the fish 2) Easier to unsnag than traditional rigs 3) Less chance of snagging overall Disadvantages of this Rig: 1) Takes longer to tie 2) Costs more than a standard blackfish rigs. 2) Can sometimes snag more than standard blackfish rigs in strong currents Other...

Jetty Tautog Fishing in NJ w/ Lots of Action - Nov. 9th 2024
มุมมอง 3.9K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Went tautog fishing at one of my favorite jetties in NJ this weekend. The weather was perfect and the water was crystal clear. Had a bite on every cast within 5 seconds of hitting bottom. Keeper ratio was about 30 to 1, with lots of fish under 12 inches. The tog seem super hungry right now, the keeper I brought home had mussels packed to the absolute brim inside it's stomach. #blackfish #tautog...
Searching for a Keeper Blackfish, Got a PB Instead! - Cape May, NJ Tautog Fishing - Mid October 2024

Took a trip down to Cape May last week with the some fam. We had very little action for the first several hours. While waiting to leave as soon as my mom and aunt got back from their walk down the beach, I got a really nice bite. We also tried fishing at David Douglas Memorial Park but strangely didn't get a single bite (as the person at the tackle shop also mentioned was odd about this togless...

Shad Blitz at Fishing Pier - North Shore Long Island

This was an unforgettable day of fishing. I was actually trying to catch some stripers with bigger lures and didn’t get a single bite. So I handed my pole to an elderly gentleman and he was able to catch a few fish with my rod while I went to get my gopro from the car. There was a very nice father and...

This was one of the most beautiful days I've ever witnessed while fishing. I was so distracted and in a zen-like state that I was not paying attention to the changing conditions. I hope this video reminds anyone fishing at the jetty how important it is to plan ahead and be mindful of the dangers involved. Switched between togging and attempting to catch a striper. Incredible Footage from NJ Striper Fall Run Action From Nov 2022
Most beautiful species we have in the northeast if you ask me
Completely agree 100%
They sleep too long on some days waking up at 925a and you've been on it since 745am 😂
Was the tide high, or going out?
Completely agree, I wish they were up at first light but it actually takes them a while to get going in the morning haha
NY 16" NJ 15" Same ocean !😂😂
Same thing with Fluke haha
So much easier to just tie on a bottom sweeper jig to a 3’ piece of leader.
A bit more expensive but I can’t argue with that!
Nice video bro. Im about to post a striper video too from long Island area
Thanks man, and I’ll definitely check that out!
Useful info, THX! Noticed you didn't wet your knots before cinching down. Deliberate or oversight?
@MartinVSmith6334 I know some people would disagree with me on this, but I've never had an issue not wetting the knots on 40 lb leader, as long as I am not burning it from clinching it down too aggressively. I don't use 50lb+ leaders b/c it's hard for me to tie without completely soaking the leader. For 20-30lb leader, you might have to wet the knot because it could burn right through.
I can see a couple of major issues with that rig at the jetty where you are at. But i am not telling you why, just like you dont explain why your rig has edge over others.
I added some advantages and disadvantages in the video description. I was pretty tired after fishing all morning so the overall quality of this video is poor. Either way, I respect everyone's opinion including yours.
@@yeezliferespectful reply, good on you.
Wait you didn’t try bridge creek in Staten Island why man you said you will try it out in the next video but you didn’t please 🙏 try it in the next video please 🙏 i support your channel please 🙏 try it out in the next video please 🙏 you will like 👍 it drop the video November 24 please 🙏
By the train?
Yea how you fish bridge creek in Staten Island
Great tip. I have been using the traditional carolina rig. I have had lot of success with it, but it's time consuming to rig up after each snag, not to mention being costly because of the all or nothing proposition on gettimg snagged. This will save a lot of time and increase actual fishing time.
Yup! 30 minutes at home can save you over an hour at the jetty
good idea !!
will have to try that setup next time i'm out
Definitely give it a shot!
Excellent. Great tip!
Thank you, hope it helps!
Awesome brother. I was actually right across on the IBSP jetty at this time!
Thanks man! I actually saw a bunch of surf casters standing in big waves over there. Looked like they were going for stripers. Do people try togging on that side too?
@ Ohh yeah, pass couple weeks been great. Last week Mon/Tues/Wed buddy of mine and I threw back close to 30 keepers, got our 1 fish limit all three days. Always do better on Lighthouse side just gets busy quick some days
@@Chasin_Bs That's awesome man, that's a whole lot of keepers! Also makes sense the LH side would be better since there's more access to structure.
Yea it a saltwater creek in western avenue Staten Island near the Goethals Bridge try it out in the next video my boy please 🙏 you will like 👍 please 🙏
Okay I will check that out next time I am in that area.

Do you mean under the Goethal's Bridge or near the swampy area?
I was there Sunday with 2 keepers. By the way what rig are you using seems like it works better no stuck to bottom.
It's a slip sinker rig with an extra bead by the hook. I'll be posting a video soon on how to make it and package it
Hey man. This cool! Where is this jetty?
What kind of rig are you using?
This is a slip sinker rig with an extra bead by the hook. I'm actually releasing a video for this a in couple of days.
What kind of spikes do you use
Heavier the duty the better. I would recommend buying crampons that have large metal spikes/chains. I would not recommend getting the ones I have on in this video because the plastic that is holding it all together is already wearing down from a few uses. Lots of garbage on Amazon
@ do you have any suggestions all i see is everyone saying korkers but im bot trying to spend $80 😂
@@connordillon173 Try one of these, they might last a season or two if you don't nick them on the rocks too much: tinyurl.com/4kxemkcz or tinyurl.com/mztvzr5w
What Rod are you using?
For togging I am using a 7' Jigging world hybrid nano carbon spinning rod.
Ok it is bad enough that people text while driving but you seriously found it necessary to film your video while driving? Hope you don't become part of a tragedy story one day.
I appreciate your concern, and you are right I should not be filming while driving. I have the habit of hitting two birds with one stone but I guess I am distracted. Thanks for reminding me.
@ I’m sorry if I came across overly stern but I enjoy your videos and would hate to lose a fellow fisherman.
It turns out we met. At the barnegate jetty, last Friday, with me admiring your 17" tog. Was not sure if that was you. Good to run into you.
Oh I remember you, nice meeting you too! How'd you end up doing on Friday, any big ones?
@@yeezlifestarted too late in the day and snagged galore. Eeked out a keeper 15" on the last cast.
@@phisher7790 I got snagged a bunch too man, it was pretty frustrating, but hey a keeper is a keeper!
Where is this?
Barnegate. By far the most productive fishing ground in Jersey shore.
Barnegat Inlet?
@@COOLFINDSnjYes sir.
Thought for sure on one of those waves you were gonna lose that bucket. It looked rough out there
Haha yeah me too, I really should of waited another hour before moving to the end.
what size you can bring home?
15in
That is correct, it must be 15 inches minimum
No 16 i got a ticket for taking a 15 inch
@@osbaldosuero1303 It's 15 inches in NJ. You might be thinking of NY, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Delaware which are all 16 inches minimum.
Wassup Yeezlife I was out there yesterday, the place was pack. Surprisingly, there were many keepers.
That's a relief man, the population must still be healthy over there!
Is this the inlet in Point Pleasant? If so have you tried the canal during slack tide? Any good size fish?
I've actually never fished the canal but am planning on trying that at least once this year. There should still be some bigger fish around for the next couple weeks!
This inlet in this video is the inlet to the north of the Manasquan inlet in Pt. Pleasant. Next one north.
Man you were having a lot of good bites out there, gotta go back and see if i get in on it as well. TIght lines!
Which inlet u fish at my friend?
I'm from VA i want to try different place. Please let me know where u fishing at
Thanks Lou! The bite is nice right now, you should definitely get out there again!
@@longta6608try the three major river inlets, shark river, manasquan, barnegate.

@@yeezlifewhy would you tell him? This spot is crowded enough
I guess your right, just tired of telling people to look on google maps
It is one of three major river inlets. Starts with "S". Seems some people are sensitive about letting the "secret" out, so I will stop there. Go during the weekdays if you are able. Weekends are too crowded.
@@yeezlife not much of a secret I guess anyway, just weird that no one can do research or find spots on their own. They have to watch you slay in a video than copy every little thing you do. Hopefully this guy is at least respectful
Belmar NJ
Good video. The rig you use “muy bueno” 😂😂 all jokes aside I feel I get less snags with it since I use a similar rig. You use a 1oz or 1.5oz ?
Haha thanks man! I'm actually using a 2oz for almost all of my videos. I tried 3oz but it's too heavy for this type of rig, it smashes into beads/swivels and breaks the rig down too fast. 1oz-1.5oz doesn't really hold bottom that well at the inlet, so I think 2oz is best!
Same here. I have had better catch rate and less snags with it.
나도 하고싶다!!
Okay sounds good!
Nice red krn gloves lol
I gotta represent bro haha
Which inlet are you fishing at?
Hi, which model of your shimano c5000 and jiging world rod spec.? Thank you

Wow! Someone actually showing where they are fishing!!! I get a kick out of the surf casters trying to keep there spot a secret when they are surrounded by 50 other fishermen. Really nice fish.
Haha thanks man, I appreciate that!

That's awesome man, I'm glad you found it useful! The big togs are still around so get back out there!
good spot!!
what size you can keep it?
In New Jersey it has to be a minimum of 15 inches.
wow!! Beautiful place!
Yes it's one of my favorite places to fish in NJ!
I want to go fishing with you someday! Be safe!!
Thank you, that sounds good!
Congrats y🎉❤
Thank you for watching!

Keep it going man, thanks for watching!
Are you using a variation of a Carolina rig? I have seen others rigging snafu rig on carolina set up.
This type of rig is called a slip sinker rig with the only variation being an extra bead by the hook.
Caught the second keeper (15.75)of the year at barnegat yesterday (17th). 6 overall, with several coming in just shy of 15. Barnegate, by far, has the best tog bites out of all jersey shore inlets.
That’s awesome man you are off to a good start this season! I love fishing at Barnegat as well
