Bear Branch Reservoir Birds
มุมมอง 80ปีที่แล้ว
Egrets and Herons were active early this morning in the Bear Branch Reservoir in The Woodlands. There are some Black-bellied Whistling Duck sounds (a lot of those about). The Egrets were noisy with their territorial grunting though that's only modest here. Sorry about everything not being horizontal, gotta work on the monopod technique ;-)

    Nice video... For starters... I used lightroom to edit and then Windows Movie Maker to do timelapse of 200 shots.. Check it out.. :D th-cam.com/video/wuzbhUq1hyA/w-d-xo.html

    How much post-processing do you have to do in order to get it to look this good? I'm coming from a D700 and I'm about to pull the trigger on a D750. Also, what program do you use to compile the time-lapse? I'm getting a bit tired of Windows Movie Maker's terrible cropping restrictions with 3:2 images.

    • @rtlocke
      @rtlocke 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Seahawk4Life Thanks for viewing my time lapse movie(s). The D750 is an outstanding camera, really just about perfect for this application. On my more recent videos I have become pretty serious about post-processing. There was a ton of green airglow that I had to get rid of on my 2015 Davis Mountain trip images. I am currently using Adobe Lightroom 6 to do that. It takes quite a while because I'm still new to the program, plus it takes forever just to import the 1000+ frames. All in all it took the better part of the day. In addition to getting rid of the airglow, I applied an exposure correct to the daylight shots. The early night shots were severely underexposed as I didn't switch the camera settings in time... (Then I messed up a left a gap, oops!) Then I worked on the exposures and airglow. Finally, I try to fine-tune the day/night transitions to smooth them out. I had terrible problems with windows movie maker and never could get it to work reliably. I am currently using Photoshop CS6 to render the final frames into a video. I'll add a link to my timelapse page, I get into what I do at the bottom. -Dick Locke

      +Dick Locke I feel you on the imports. I made an all night astro-lapse of the Geminids Meteor shower and to catch the meteors I set the shutter to 8 seconds and took at 10 second intervals. That's 4,200+ RAW files (40GB) for an all-nighter. I bought a USB 3.0 card reader and that made a huge difference in transferring pics to computer. I also had to upgrade to the latest Intel i5 chip and 16GB RAM to have enough power in Lightroom and PS. Thanks for the response. I'm looking forward to my D750s arrival.

    I love the washout effect at the end.

    • @rtlocke
      @rtlocke 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phil K. Thanks. The nice thing about the washout is it's easy to achieve; I just let the camera continue with the 30s night exposures until the picture is pure white, and exclude the rest of the white frames.

      Yep. I do the same with my timelapses whenever I can.
