Should we pass midline? Intro to the Sweet Spot
Intro to the Sweet Spot - I'm not a big midline fan and that's because I've shanked so many balls that I thought I had until last second... FLOAT!
I lose my intended angle and I feel awful "I had it!" Here's a small intro to why I don't love passing the ball midline, in front of me and where I think we should track and contact float serves.
PS.. Float serves and Jump serves should be passed differently.

Float Serve Partner Drill (Never Midline)
มุมมอง 1.5K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Never midline game is an easy partner drill you can use to help with 'opening the door' when we open the door, we give ourself the space and ability to respond to last second floats with our intended angle. I don't like midline because if the ball floats last second, we will lose our intended angle - we don't want to be in a situation where we are so vulnerable to something we don't have contro...
How to train tracking for Float Serve Reception

The Sweet Spot Catching Drill Area 6! I believe tracking is incredibly important and one of the biggest ROI in passing but we need to be specific when tracking - I like to imagine the ball to hit either my left or right hip.

One of eight drills I like to use to train the split step for serve reception. If we can get a conscious read and a quicker, more dynamic 'push' towards the serve, I believe we will be incredibly successful in passing both float and jump serves. Ogawa is very underrated. But I like him more than the other Japanese libero. His diving digs and saves are the best.
i don’t even play volleyball or something but i sit through the whole video just to get an understanding of de cecco’s mind because he’s my favorite setter and im always amazed watching him makes an insane set looking so easy
Zoe fleck is such an inspiration for me and I aspire to be like her!! It’s intimidating and scary but I’ll do my best.
Qué crack De Cecco
If ball is High and spinning how to counter the momentum

Why move back after contact? Wouldn't that take you further from the net and you have to go further up to cover etc? Is that just to absorb the ball power so you don't overpass?
What was the result of the contacts? If they were both good…
Can someone explain what the problem is with the set at 7:52 (Micah's last set to the oppo)? I listened to the explanation afterward and went back to watch it, but it didn't seem like he twisted to the right much at all. Maybe just the camera angle? Thanks for this btw! One world class setter training another world class setter and we get to get a glimpse!? Brilliant!

Hi. Great video. Around 2min in ... why do you instruct to keep on moving? What does the continual movement do?? Thank you

Rather than awareness begets change, I use “if you feel it you can fix it.”

Can the split step be used in places other than serve receive?
Yes you can use it for hitting defense as well It just makes you faster to move and bust towards the ball
I saw a video once that even used it in blocking
The og reminder.
Muy bien ❤️🩹
👏👏👏👏☺️ buenísimo
You say pass on the left hip to avoid passing in the midline. Would you say that after a while of learning to pass on one hip, you should learn to pass on both sides?
I think in the video he explains that he wants them to pass on both hips but he is only working on the left hip first. He's training one side before training the next side.
Great! So the point is to always track to left or right hip?
what ive been told is to try to catch the float serve early so it doesnt have time to randomly drop
How would you sum up what he said, is there a simple explanation to have in mind all the time?

amazing video
Gold.
Why is the 2nd and 3rd step going back? I’ve never done this as a libero and the examples shown don’t do this either. The split step should have a slight forward movement, not forward and back.
Prep step (forward) and then when you jump and the front/back foot just recalibrate in the middle - as we might have to move forward, back or to the sides. Hope this helps my friend.
@@dustinwatten8139 amazing, thanks! Yea, that makes sense.
What is the purpose of the 1st step forward? I want to understand it, and not just know how to do it.
Is 1st step with a LT foot because you move to the RT?
Timing and because very often someone doesn't take the first step, they don't split.@@mrmuhtish
Are they actually digging with one arm or getting two arms on it by keeping arms apart initially until reaction?

No is the more important Its the most important
It’s so true When De Cecco says “the more difficult plays are easier, and the more easier plays are difficult”. Can’t be anymore right. Just the sheer effort and confidence into making a difficult play is what makes the play seems easier. Unless you’ve played any sport and came across such situations, you’ll probably never understand. The easy plays are the ones you have time to doubt yourself and think about making a mistake.
