Rice water contains sugar, hence why u have sugar ants. If you grow indoors and want to get rid of sugar ants, just mix sugar with borax powder, leave it in a water bottles, opens the caps. Sugar ants will carry the borax home and kill the nests.

@mindimartian9821 I usually dilute about 10 part water to 1 part LAB, but you can dilute further if you like.

Kingianum flower usually last about 4 weeks, after that, just follow basic care for it. Give it plenty of light, water and fertilize regularly. Weak fertilizer weekly would be the best. Water when it almost dry.

Oh I am in Pretoria South Africa so fairly dry and hot summers, winter dry and evening temps can drop below zero. So it is kept inside in an Eastern window to get bright light and bit of morning sun.

All of the kingianum and its hybrid should have the same cultural care. During summer time, it can stay outside if you can shade it with shade clothes. Winter can stay indoors if temp drops below zero. Mind you, kingianum do need a cool night temp to set buds. Plenty of water during summer growth season. Hope that helps

It depends on how you grow it. If you end up with a lot of keiki, chances are, it's not enough light and possibly lack of cold weather. Kingianum can take a lot of lights. I pretty much had mine grow outdoors under some shades all year long. Sometimes, there is a little bit of direct evening suns.

@@EZOrchids Thanks for replying promptly. I'll try figuring out a way to make use of your advice. I'm in Canada, summertime I put the plant outside. During winter it always get at least 8 hours of LED light per day. And the situation doesn't change which leads to my wondering if my plant is "barren" if that's really exist. Sounds silly I know but what's left for me to think, right?

@@bachlantruong3126 so you move it indoors during winter and grow it under light. That might be the problem. Kingianum can take some cold temp as long as it's not freezing temp. Without exposing it to night cold temperatures, it will not bloom.

You can check eBay, but most of the time, cymbidium backbulb obtain when dividing the plant.

I'm not sure, but I use a lot of LAB for my garden as well as my orchids.

Best time to repot is right after blooms. Hope that helps.

Hi so how would you deal with those roots sticking out? I bought one exactly like that with the root hairs sticking out not sure if to put it in a bigger pot and cover it or leave it sticking out. Help!

I don't have the ones in videos anymore as my friends wanted them when they came for visit. I since imported more of these orchids. They are still recovering from shipping shock. I have about 20 plus Grammatophyllum now.

You can do it weekly. I do it much more often since i have an abundance of it. I do it every 3 days or so.

Hope you don't make the same mistake again by reporting healthy plants immediately. Only repot the ones that show lots of root rots and needs immediate reporting. Then again, I would not be buying root rot orchids if given the chance.

Phals can use a variety of media. It all depends on how frequently you want to water. If you are the kind of person who water every 3 to 5 days, then bark mix. If you are the kind of person who always forgets to water, moss will be a good media. I personally use bark mix with a bit of moss in it due to the dry climate I have here in southern California. I also have some grown semi hydroponic in the past as well as mounting it.

If roots are green and firm, leave it in the pot until you've enjoy the bloom. Don't water it until it's dry. Most people tell you to repot all newly purchased orchids, that's not always necessary. Only repot if orchids is sick and shows visible sign of root rots.

Unfortunately, the damage was too far gone. It got secondary infection, and was spreading quickly, by the time I got to treat the plant for the I fection, it was already too late. Plant has died.😭😭

Flower bud grows from flower spike. Flower spike growth usually can't tell until it grows longer. Also, for this particular species, Flower spike usually form around late fall to early winter. It was first time for me to grow this type of orchid, so I have not seen one spike growing myself. I've seen picture of it blooming on multiple nodes along the bulbs. Hope thar helps

I also have the purple one. I received a keiki 2 years ago. This year it bloom for me. Just that it was only one spike so didn't show you guys.

@@EZOrchids It will grow more soon, I am looking for the orange color. Hope i found one. A lady by san francisco CA has some white and purple but wants $100 for each. These orquids are rate. Hard to find. Actually mines are putting out new shoots now. And I repot one because it was to tight on the pot.
