I don’t know what modifications you need to do. It already pulls 1g on the skid pad, the brakes are phenomenal. If you get a perfect one under $10000 , then put the 435 hp ls connect and cruise drivetrain in it for $12000 , you’ve got a zr1 beating beast under $25000. . Alternatively, put a set of vortec heads on it, improve the exhaust, mild cam, you’re looking at Grand Sport territory very cheaply.

There was an article in Motor Trend magazine a few years ago that talked about a problem with SUV's: the driver is up higher than a sedan so he feels more confident, so he drives faster.... in a vehicle with worse handling and higher center of gravity.

They took the SUV and turned it from a 4WD station wagon-truck-thing into a living room on wheels. They're luxury vehicles now, at the expense of most of the usefulness of the old ones. Don't get me wrong, my 2004 Suburban 1500 LT was a nice vehicle in its day, worth almost $50,000 off the lot, and it still is in no small part due to being very well maintained (having the body rust addressed was rather pricey but hey, I don't want to have to go truck shopping any time soon, you can't get them for $4,000 any more unless they're in rather rough shape), but underneath the heated leather seats, the adjustable lumbar support, power folding mirrors, and all of the other bells and whistles that make it pretty close to optioned out for a 2004, it's still a truck underneath, and other than driving it a few times a week so it doesn't deteriorate, I mostly use it for truck stuff. When that hurricane came through, I drove it in case I encountered standing water or debris in the road that my 1966 Oldsmobile (mpg: no) or 2009 Camry (mpg: 28 combined) wouldn't handle very well, and because people in Kentucky don't know how to act when there's a bit of water on the road. It can take a hit, I already know that. My parents had borrowed it to go get something from the city and had stopped for food on the way back, and some guy rear-ended them. The Suburban wasn't even scratched, but the guy's hood was crumpled like a tin can. He still somehow drove off, but was caught a few days later. Any vehicle meant to be used for truck stuff, towing, hauling, off-roading, whatever, needs to be sturdy enough to take some low-speed hits and not fall apart, unlike modern SUVs with plastic body panels. Nice pre-facelift Silverado by the way. Don't see them often, people foam at the mouth over the cateye (2004-2007 Classic) to the point the 1999-2003 model years don't get the attention they deserve. "Buy a small car - Chevette" lol, I wish. They may have been the 70s equivalent of a Cruze (unreliable garbage) but at least they were easier to work on.

I love small cars. I drive an old Prelude around. It's a manual. It's tiny. It's not comfortable. But it's _fun._ My wife's Sequoia is really nice to ride in, but it's not what I gravitate to. It's disconnected, floaty, and dull. My car is what you drive to celebrate the act of driving. My wife's car is what you drive to move a bag of blood and bones between locations. It's fine if that's all you want from a vehicle. I don't have a problem with the fact that SUVs exist. I have a problem with the fact that it seems like that's all they'll sell you. If I want a small engine sport coupe these days, my options are Mazda Miata or Toyota GR86/Subaru BR-Z. If you want an SUV these days, your options are nearly bottomless. Small cars in the 80s and 90s and even 00s were just so much cooler than they are now.

Me and my wife want something thats easy to get in and out of, like our jeep grand Cherokee and gmc terrain. I'm 6'2 200 and were in our 70s. No way we are going back to our Saturn SL. The jeep is flex fuel and the turbo engine terrain gets high 20s low 30s mpg. Both are decent for short or long trips. Most not all have a bigger suv for a reason like kids, handicap, business, some towing on weekend.

American manufacturers cant make good sedans, so they lobbied for suvs (which are still bad). Japanese and German manufacturers have no problem making a profit on sedans but somehow it becomes a problem when american manufacturer does it. That is why they are killing sedans. A similar thing happened with diesel engines in passenger cars. When the Germans began beefing up their options and bringing serious competition to hybrids, only GM ever bothered to answer. The dieselgate scandal happened and the american manufacturers had the golden opportunity to ban diesel engines which the Democrats were more than willing to do since it was competition. I'm sure sedans are next, if we elect Kamala she'll ban any car that isn't an SUV

If one only needs a big SUV for the summer road trip or the winter ski trip, rent one only when you need it and stick with a compact or mid-sized sedan.

If you go back even further,, the original automobiles 1900-1945ish...were technically all SUVs... large (later) heavy body-on-frame vehicles with a commanding road view.... It wasn't until the 60s when everything got lower wider and longer Pioneer by general motors styling that the modern-day smaller car become a thing... We are only going back to what we originally had... Practicality and capability for when it comes up and is needed ....I have a GMC envoy alongside my Jaguar and it's nice to be able to haul things when I need to sometimes....4x4 in winter,and it's just more comfortable to sit up high sometimes so I get why more and more people are gravitating towards them

my family owns a small suv, 2009 mitsubitchi outlander, been with us since 2018 to haul a family of four, we've taken it to camping trips full with equipememnt, fit 8 ppl in it, fit a whole small restaurant business in it, poor thing is abused but its the most reliable car I've ever known, nowadays it sees more work commuter trips since its the only car we currently own. I get your point, my mom literally bought it for herself and her children are already grown, although she does haulk around her three pets, besides suvs are inherently more dangerous due to their high mass gravity center, you really need to know what are your needs to know what kind of car do you need

Honestly hate the “too much car” mentality. Buy whatever you want if you can afford it lol, if the owner likes it it’s a good buy.

I’d rather have a big sedan with seats that are as soft as couches like a modern day all electric equivalent of a Lincoln Town Car or Cadillac Fleetwood. It’s designed to handle being driven very fast and can do it since it has over 480 standard HP and 960 available HP with full torque vectoring and instant torque but it’s meant for pure luxurious driving that is effortless.

Another big thing I see with cars nowadays is that most car colors are boring. Most of them that you see on the road is white or black and some different colors like dark shaded blue for example. It’s just so boring to see compared to the cars from the 70’s and 80’s.

I have nothing against people buying big cars but i swear to God half of these people don't know how to drive them properly and they always end up colliding with someone in traffic and they never fucking pay attention like literally and they ingore every small car and motorcycle drivers and get mad when they pass them, i wish that they could make cars small again.

I have a 99 camry 155k miles on it and I still drive it like it is the most precious vehicle on the road I've had other cars but this is hands down best car I ever owned

I had a 82 z28, and a 88 sport coupe with the 305, both awesome seats for bad backs, both rusted away😢 had 384,000 miles on the 305. Drove it like a butt hole every day.

I think they are a good builder and a cheap project. But it's an 80s car. The plastics suck, the electronics suck, the brakes suck, and every little thing besides the power train will go bad. The quality of the plastics and electronics was crap to begin with on top of them being almost 40 years old.

2:06 wrong, i pushed mine to ALLEGEDLY 180kmh, that's plenty fast for public roads with pot holes and weather and just general stuff around (the v6's, which i had, have a top speed of around 225 btw) you're right on them being unkillable though, i spun out in mine in the wet (driving normally for once) and it still ran, even with a busted tyre and rear fender, it still drove all the way back home.
