Boy, if that drummer isn't copying Ringo !! But, ya, know, compared to the maudlin computerized synthesized junk today and rap crap (finally taking a dump, I hope), at least this was fun and real, with that '65 mod Beatlesque presence, I'd welcome it back today !! btw: For you guitarists, I believe the V chord is minor .. It's in A, so it's [: A D ][ Em D :] You can see the Guit. fingering an E-, 7th Pos... 98% sure..which was odd at that time..

In 1967 I was sent to Japan from Vietnam with a bad infection in my knee and we stopped overnight in the Philippines at Clark Air force Base. That night the Four Preps did a show in the lobby and it was great! Just a piano player and the Preps, it was something I really enjoyed!

This is a Super Star This live performance is so much better than the hit record. The groove is Swing , Nat is a Handsome Man, He exudes Loves and Happiness, He is a Jazz Singer, the tastiest Jazz Piano player you could want . The sound of that live studio piano is the real deal, bet that's what Nat sounded like live.

I remember when this song came out and the impact it made. It was only a couple of years ago I went looking for the song's history. It describes true events. A story of love, infidelity and actually 3 death sentences one from syphilis. His name wasn't Dooley, but close. The trial records are still there.

Back in the early 80 my dad would take my brother and I camping in the Adirondacks every summer to a place called Lake Wakonda located in Pottersville, NY. Driving in his old station wagon, he played the Kingston Trio's greatest hits in the cassette deck front and back multiple times. I had my Sony Walkman to "drown them out" but at the age of 53, I feel like Tom Dooley at times wanting to just smile.

A lot of drama behind the recording and live performance of this song. The vocals you hear in this video were recorded by the goofy drummer, not the cute blonde boy. The blonde boy, named Lynn Easton, didn't record the vocals on the album, the drummer, Jack Ely did. It had been Jack Ely's idea to record "Louis Louis," it was his "baby" but the blonde kid's mother had bought and registered the name "The Kingsmen" so he claimed it was his band and he got to be the lead singer, up in front and relinquished Jack behind the drum kit which he had no idea how to play. Such a dick move. The Kingsmen were only 19 years old when they released this song and Lynn and Jack had grown up together but some people are just assholes from a young age. So the drummer isn't playing the drums he was the singer and the singer was the drummer. And Annie Fannie is a direct rip off of "Alley Oop" by The Hollywood Argyles. You can easily hear the two different voices in the songs.
