    How common are RV parks that have dual TT-30 outlets on a single pedestal? I don't need 240 volts for an RV, but I do need it for a Level 2 EV charger. If this adapter really does deliver 240 volts across the hot pins on the NEMA 14-50 socket, it would be perfect for using a Level 2 EVSE at a campground that only has TT-30 outlets.

      You are absolutely correct, the 30A outlets need to be 180º out of phase. Using these adapters do pose risk if the campground pedestals are not wired correctly. This is why I insist on knowing my pedestal and using the EMS protection box at all times.

    So basically Newell requires slide operations to be done on level ground, without using the leveling system. This seems so chaotic since the ground is rarely level. I’m really surprised!

    • @RVSquaredSteve
      @RVSquaredSteve 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AGreatImage thank you for your comment, but you are confused so let me help you understand better. First, slide operation is based upon the manufacturer which is VALID and Newell follows their guidelines. VALID does NOT want the coach leveled prior to slide ops since keeping the leveling system in the Travel mode provides continuous balance-leveling to account for the slide weight as it extends or retracts. If you were to level the coach in the Auto mode, the system will go into a sleep mode and will only periodically check for level; not preferred by VALID. And lastly, no, a site does NOT at all have to be level to start with. The thing you must understand is that a Newell is 60k pounds and no “jack” system will handle that weight. Therefore, the coach is leveled using the airbags and typically won’t have the amount of travel a jack would provide. That’s the only consideration “if” a site is grossly out of level; but has never restricted us from using our slides. I hope this helps you better understand.

      @RVSquaredSteve 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there Tom! Thanks for watching, the compliment, and commenting! It's just one of those "easiest" things to do, yet seems to pose so many questions. As you know, it's actually not only easy, but I kinda think it's better on the entire coach's inverters and electronics if they can be powered down. Though commonplace with other brands, Newell has resisted recommending it for the "normal" user-base.

    • @stafcurtis1
      @stafcurtis1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My Newell has two 120v compressors upfront. Why wouldn’t Newell have one 120v and a 12v instead just to satisfy this purpose?

    • @RVSquaredSteve
      @RVSquaredSteve 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @stafcurtis1 Thanks for the comment/question! All (newer model) Newells have dual 120v compressors for full redundancy. These compressors are workhorses that 12 volt models couldn’t handle. Even one of the best VIAIR PRO compressors wouldn’t have the capacity to keep up with even a minor leak, which pretty much every Newell will have. It’s not like an Aux water pump; if a compressor can’t keep up, you’ll not have enough volume and pressure to even allow the compressor to cycle. So, if there were ever a failure of the “Main 120v”, you’d be in trouble. Finally, again, one benefit of the “shop air” inlet is that you CAN fully shut the coach down on not only the Inverters, but the 12 volt house as well. So, there’d be no 12 volt power.

    Really well explained! -- QUESTION -- We are looking for a Class A and have heard from Liz Amazing and many others, that he best models are made prior to 2008 due, in part, becuase they are pre- all that EPA nonsense that supposidly ruined diesel engines. However, while we are targating Country Coach of that vintage, we are wondering how important all the modern driver aids are, such as lane keep assist, "Comfort drive":, adaptive cruise control etc. Would you prefer to own a Class A with modern technology, over an older but excellent condition Country Coach without DEF and all that stuff? How would you consider this issue?

    • @RVSquaredSteve
      @RVSquaredSteve 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much! This is a personal decision that is based upon upon my technical ability and desire for modern features. So, as much as I hate the concerns of DEF systems, it’s a fact you can’t get around if you don’t want the “aging” hassles of a coach that’s going to be 25 years old. In and of themselves, dealing with aging motor coaches and the problem with parts availabilities, they both have distinct disadvantages.

      Yes, the plastic coupling is a double-female which, normally, would screw into the male threads of the tank’s outlet. @@Transforming2024 no no. This adaptor is ONLY to bring two 30A supplies into a 50A. What you’re asking is to have a two 50A into single 50A and that is not in the scope of this video and would cause serious issues which is why that type of Dogbone isn’t made.

    Would it be possible to integrate a system like this in an older 2004 coach?

    • @RVSquaredSteve
      @RVSquaredSteve 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In certain aspects yes. However, if your coach isn't SilverLeaf based, then you'll not be able to run the telematics for remote monitoring.

      @@RVSquaredSteve Thank you for the Reply Steve! I am not at all familiar with the technology aspect of these coaches and alot of it goes right over my head. I am sure my coach does not have a silver leaf based system however. All my controls are done through standard separate switches and nothing is integrated together. Remote monitoring would be nice, but A major goal for myself is to have all my coach controls for the lights, stereo, blinds, hot water heater, slides etc onto some kind of panel to condense the need for walking all over the coach and i would love to have multiple control panels that are able to control the same functions at different places in the coach.

      It varies slightly by location due to the amount of leasing and operating expenses. But, be prepared for around $120 per foot.

    Thank you for your straightforward presentation on the necessity of pre-planning and being prepared for the ‘what if’ situation. As a mariner, I always had a ditch bag and a plan for the unlikely scenario that I had to go into the life raft. I must admit, since RVing, I have not been as diligent. After seeing those pictures of the flames engulfing that motor home, my complacency ends now!

    Wow thanks so much. I built a 3 filter bank and use a 10, 5, 1 set up. I was thinking of going 5, 1 and .5 like yours. Does the .5 give you adequate flow?
