How to: Operate the convertible top on a Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder!
Today we take a look at, what I find to be, the most efficient way to operate the convertible top on a Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder.
This method prevents the need from going in and out of the car numerous times to normally perform the action, thus preventing extra seat Bolster wear, and general headaches.
MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE BUTTRESS SUPPORTS! A gentle pull on ths supports will ensure they don't come out and risk damaging the paint!
With a small amount of practice the time to raise or lower the top using this method takes less than a minute.

Too bad that it doesn’t have a roof that can be opened
This is a great salesman!
How do you put the windshield wipers in service position from the PCM screen?
Does the 991.2 have a similar "marked area" to place your key fob to start the car?
Actually the 991.2 is even easier! You just keep trying to turn the "dummy key" until the car tells you to turn it off and pull it out. Then insert the real key and use that!
I really didn't like the new gear shift location, it's a hassle to quickly switch back and forth from drive to reverse, on the 2023 the gear shift was an eye sore but I much preferred that whilst driving. Debated switching to the 2024 from my 2022 but ultimately didn't because of that!
Took me about 20 min to get used to it. Shove it all the way up for reverse and all the way down for drive.

It really looks great in person!
You Didn't mention the passenger Display
Not much to mention, its very similar to the main display, but without a log-in I can't show off the Screen-Hits that allows you to watch movies.
Watching this so I can do it when I get my Taycan
I bet you must be excited!
GREAT INFO ONLY PROB IS U TALK TO FAST SLOW IT DOWN SO PEOPLE CAN ABSORB WAT UR EXPLAINING COS LOT INFO
Are you saying child lock for the doors can be done from the child lock windows? Is this also in addition to being able to do it (the hard way) from the inner back doors with the mechanical key?
ONLY if you have the 4 zone climate control can this be done via the window switch.
@@theporschepro1065 ok interesting, i tested it out. that is super cool to know
This is a beautiful one , especially the rims and wheels.
Puppy ??? I'm seeing a car... WTH?!!
"What if I'm going through one of those drive-through carwashes...?" Answer... don't. You own a $150K++++ vehicle. Don't be a cheap-a$$ and get it done properly. Or better yet, learn how to do it properly yourself! Pride of ownership for such a vehicle would be a great thing.
I wish people took such good care of their cars. However, to many of our customers it's nothing but another lease to them.
What about the steering wheel adjustment location?
I mispoke! Steering wheel adjustment is underneath the column! My apologies.
This is a super-helpful video! Can you answer one question for me? On earlier Panameras one had the option of "Individual" drive mode. It looks like that option is no longer there, whether one has Sport Chrono or not. Can you confirm?
Yes they did in fact remove it, HOWEVER! They do allow you to save a customized version of each drive mode. For example, if you want your sport mode to ALWAYS have a softer suspension, you can do that. Just not a singular individual mode however.
@@theporschepro1065 This is excellent. Just one follow-up: is this the case regardless of whether one has the Sport Chrono package, or is the customized version only available if one has the Sport Chrono package? My local dealer seems to think one has to have Sport Chrono to have any chance of saving a customized version.
@@cv3033 Give me about 20 minutes to eat lunch and I'll give you a 100% answer. I'm 99.9% sure that it does in fact come with a customizable drive for sport even without sports chrono, as just like the cayenne, the new Panamera comes standard with the drive mode dial.
@@cv3033 yup just checked. It has it. Same as the cayenne. You do it through the "vehicle" page in the infotainment system. Make the changes you want while in sport for example, then just hit the little checkmark to save it
Thanks so much - you just saved me from buying an option I otherwise would never need in a Panamera.
You can also eliminate the two outside dash dials from the right button on the steering wheel. You can’t see them anyway so when you minimize them, you still have the info but you can see everything.
Yup, it's called "reduced" mode. Pretty nice. I still like a compass on the right side too much to use it lol
All those little buttons are, you guessed it, pretty cool 😂😂😂
Frankly I handled the 2 wk old babe like “I don’t know what to do with you.” Now I can ride her like a pro 😅
Good vibes, love the enthusiasm
Easy to be enthused with such awesome cars!
Is there an emergency parking brake?
Yes! Its incorporated with the Park button. Pushing and holding it while driving will apply brakes and stop the car. It also unlocks the doors and calls Porsche roadside assistance. Otherwise if you just put it in park when you stop, it will also apply the E brake
Very detailed video, very informative🫡
I appreciate the compliment!
Thank you
My pleasure!
I love the video, but PLEASE work on not saying “of course” every 5 words. It’s super distracting. Thanks!
This is quite an old video. I feel like I've gotten better. These are initially just used to send to customers that weren't local to us that I couldnt personally deliver their car. However, it seems there's a bigger audience for it than I thought!
Here’s a silly idea. Why doesn’t Porsche just install a manual release lever under the dash?
lol, if only I knew.
When using drive mode is the individual mode gone because it’s a SUV 🚙?
No, it appears to also be gone on the new Panamera as well.
Sweet
It's pretty neat, no doubt!
Man great help
Glad to hear it!
Great Video Brother
Thank you very much!
Thank you for the video! Just jumped off a 2024 Porsche 911 turbo s.
Oh man! Congrats!
Bro you have the finniest mickey mouse voice ever
Oh You gotta hear me on Xbox. I use a Mickey mouse voice all the time!
Is entry and drive default on a 2024 macan? Talking about the ICE not the electric. The vehicle is new and preconfigured and I have to pick it up in a few days. Entry and drive is something that I didn’t check, I thought it will be included by default, I mean it’s 2024.
I always say, NEVER assume something is standard on any car. However in this case it's ok to. Porsche entry and drive is standard in the US market.
Car wouldn't start now. How do i reinitilize the key?
No idea what you mean by this. If the key is not starting the car then my first suggestion is to make sure the battery you replaced was installed correctly and not the old one. The car doesn't typically "lose" key programming that easily.
Something you missed that’s quite confusing about this car is the recirculation. Every other car I own when you tell the car to recirculate the air and not pull it in from the outside it stays in that setting forever until you change it but not my turbo S. Unless I’m doing it wrong.
Nope. I feel like I remember reading in the owners manual about it's something to do with interior humidity or something that it defaults off.
Well, I wish it didn’t default that way for any reason. It’s annoying. Outside air on a highway sucks. Anyway thank you for responding.
Amazing video man, please we need this for the GT3RS....As much as it might feel very similar to this, I'd love to see the difference between the configurability for the two cars
Oh trust me, we have a very friendly customer that gets his in august and I want to press buttons!
@@theporschepro1065 lmao azmazing, looking forward to that!!! 🤣
What you critically fail to mention is the use of the key (within in the remote control) IF you have KEY LESS entry. Using the short stumpy key is NOT easy to open the drivers door.
Oh yeah... its a massive pain in the butt LOL
I just purchased a Taycan 4S, and this video is really helpful in getting me started. Thank you.
Glad to help!
So Porsche removed the auto start stop feature permanently from 2024 models
It's hidden in the menus. Vehicle>Auto start stop check or uncheck it. You just have to do it every time you get into the car, EXCEPT for the macans.
My car doesn’t have it you have it funny enough
Of course… of course… of course… 😵💫🙉
I do these videos in 1 shot lol, I guess it's better than saying "umm" lol
best video ever. You should do a video with the cayenne on the park assist !!!!!!
Just uploaded one! Used the Panamera but exact same process!
i would never understand ppl buy a any car 202x without adaptive cruse control. LOL
Oh it drives me nuts... I'm not a personal fan of it unless I'm doing 65 in the right lane or in a serious traffic jam
Swordfish II phone wallpaper, nice.
Yeah buddy!
Thanks for the info! A quick one, how can we adjust the spoiler / wing on the back. Not sure if I missed this part. Thanks again
It's hidden in the vehicle settings, as it's only supposed to be raised if you are cleaning underneath. Otherwise the car controls all the functions of it. It only raises like an inch or two.
15:40, I think the car will warn you that you are drifting out of the lane but it will not steer itself back. Good video otherwise.
Depends on packaging. There's lane departure warning and Active Lane keep assist. they used to show different buttons depending if you had the feature or not. Now they use the same icon.
Its a baby
Wonderful little SUV. My fav is the Macan T
Thanks for this video
Hope it helped!
Best of making ! Thanks !
Thank you!
Excellent video. Very helpful and precise. Please do more for the 992 Turbo S if there is any thing else you discover.
Unfortunately 911's are becoming quiet rare for us to even do videos on as they are typically sold 3 months in advance and are delivered as soon as they come in!
@@theporschepro1065 I own one and it's a delight. Quite understand the rarity
@@kiteflyinglawyer Oh yeah, they are fantastically capable sports cars that you can enjoy every day!
