I wonder if Wayne(15) has seen this video
Great competitions mate, fairly sure nobody will be entering the c64 competition though 💩🤣. Have a great Christmas.
😂😂 you too mate!
@7:12 Hopper Copper was originally going to be called Pogo Cop, but the developers thought a Pogo Stick was too Violent at the time.
😂😂
I’ve so many good memories of Ocean, buying their games, playing their games, testing their games meeting all those mentioned here as a young 14 year old, I was very proud of Ocean being relatively local too - it was ‘Gaming Hollywood’ I’m sure for many of us. Great times. I even interviewed Gary Bracey for my little Fanzine which I distributed freely to my friends. At school. 🤣 Great times.
PS. RIP RODDERS
Glad you liked it. Have you still got a copy of your GB interview?
Come on Santa. Daddy wants a sebs place mug. 🙌🏽
You are in the draw my good man xx
I was going to add something pithy, but changed my mind.
Love the Christmas Ziggy BTW!
@@SebsPlaceYT Cheers.🎅Merry Christmas🎅
And to you 😊
IT'S ZIGGY. 🎅Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone🎅
😂😂
OI!!! I only just got that bloody NINJA MASTER song out of my head and you bloody play it again!! Blowpipe Blaaaaasssttttteeeeerrrrrr! ARGH! PS if you haven't already - how about something on Legend with the flawed but fun Valhalla and the .... execrable The Great Space Race. Both games largely written in basic and largely overpriced - TGSP was £15 at launch bloody ripoff. You could buy a house for that back then!
😂😂 sorry!!! Great choices by the way!
Merry Christmas sir!
And to you Snorkers!!!
When I was about 10 I had some birthday money a total of about £10 should I buy 5 mastertronics or 1 £9.99 game for and treat myself after much thought I went for Dragons Lair for the c64 the game is brutal and I regretted it ever since I am still not over it !
Good shout! It was never gonna be the arcade game was it.....
Crimbo greetings! 🎄 🎁 I don't often throw out compliments on channels, but you certainly deserve one from me. I always look forward to your new videos, and have always enjoyed each and every one!
Thank you, very kind! Happy Christmas to you, hope its a good one!
Generous of you but I'm a Speccy lover and I already have that wonderful book, along with a few other good Speccy reads. So in a 'not entering way' I'll answer your question and say 3D Deathchase was a game that is lauded on the Spectrum but I never understood why. I got so bored of it in about 5 minutes, it just was the same thing over and over and over, and be it when I was a kid or as an adult I get no joy from it at all. Of course I also love games that got panned in the ratings, so just goes to show. Have a great Christmas!
Thank you, and happy Christmas to you too! Funnily enough, Death Chase has come up a few times in the emails, which is interesting.
OMG the bias. Amstrad owners get a great game, C64 owners get a 0% game 😀 Di’s Baby, my favourite C64 crap game 👌 I have a problem with my Retrum. You should see a doctor 😂 Loved The Pyramid on the C64 as a kid. Loved the different alien sprites and wanted to progress to each room to see what item they were.
😂😂 cmon! Surely you want a copy of Ninja Master!!!
Thanks for all the vids
Thanks for watching !
You can keep the CPC LMAO :)
Too big to send! (Plus I love it 😀)
Happy Christmas Seb and something else about welcoming you to the future. I have a bunch of newly written Spectrum games that I have been playing today, you know which games I mean, we need a VHS tape about them for you to make, have fun and stuff 💗 Can you enter me into the contest please, I have no idea how to do it. I'm hoping to win the BBC micro 😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚
😂😂 hands off my BBC !
Thanks Seb it’s been a blast watching your videos throughout the year, have a brilliant Christmas
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
@02:27 You need freakin' Pym particles to read that...
Always a pleasure Seb. Hope you and the family have a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year. COYS 🎉
And to you! COYS!!!
on the Spectrum I absolutely hated Dizzy, it is a shite game, with shite controls and just a horribly shit game. I don't get it, it's a shit game with an egg character that just bounces around, looks annoying and is just shitness personified.
Agree. I never got it either. My younger brother absolutely loved it though, it was the source of endless arguments.
Yeah! I wanted to like it but struggled with it. Email me @ stupotseb@gmail.com if you want to enter that into the comp!
Dizzy games were usually the only games i ever played to the end :D Dunno why i liked him so much.
I wasn't a big fan of the Dizzy games on the C64 but for another reason - they felt like cheap and nasty ports rather than take proper advantage of the hardware on offer. Yes, they had better music in some cases and the puzzles are the same. However, there's some awful bugs in some of them, such as the infamous cut down Spellbound Dizzy lite version on the Dizzy's Excellent Adventures compilation, and even on the full version, a major bug exists so you can complete the game in under 2 minutes. Only Crystal Kingdom Dizzy felt like some love and care went into that version, and Dizzy Down the Rapids started on the C64, so that at least looks and also plays decent. If you're going to play anything Dizzy, the Amstrad CPC is the source version and should really be played on that system for the bext experience.
Dizzy = Bag of shite
I'd enter, but i'd feel mean if i won and you had to ship to Canada, and they wouldnt work on our power supply anyhuw... Oh, I thought you were giving away the cpc there for a second.
Haha! A game and mug to Canada I can deal with. Not a box big enough to ship a CPC 😁😁
Never played CPC or C64 so ;)
Speccy it is then! 😁
@@SebsPlaceYT Yeah.. call it is a rubber fetish ;)
Wonderful mate. I'm going to have a go at all three, I've got a few of the prizes on offer but I know some good homes where they'd be looked after. Merry Christmas to you and you're family. Look forward to your output next year.
Cheers Denny! Go for it!
6:37 Di's Baby was Di-A-Bolical. Sorry.
😁😁
I was watching a video about the best CPC 464 games and one game stood out...Everyone's A Wally...I was really quite surprised how good it looked and played...Dare I say it, better than the C64 version? Have you seen it?
The Wally series originated on the Speccy. Automania, Pyjamarama, Everyone's A Wally, Herbert's Dummy Run and the frustratingly silly Three Weeks in Paradise.
I've seen it on the speccy. Wonder if it's a direct port?
@@SebsPlaceYT It doesn't look like a direct port...it does look much better though. Unfortunately, I can't find any other videos on it and I don't have a CPC to try it...
I loved EAW as a kid, I never had a bloody clue what i was actually doing with it though.
@billybollockhead5628 I used to play it on my Spectrum and actually managed to solve quite a few of the puzzles. It was a great game and very underrated.
Nope, play Hard Drivin'
An epilepsy warning at the beginning would've been nice. Still, superb video.
Oh, apologies! Didn't even notice anything that would trigger?
@@SebsPlaceYT The rapidly flashing colours on the game over screen.
@@SebsPlaceYT Sorry, the way I phrased it was a bit rude. While I'm here though, have you heard of the absolute travesty of a port that is the Atari 8-bit version?
No worries mate! Yeah I've seen that Atari one, not played it. Almost want to, to see how bad it is!!
Very refreshing to hear somebody else never got into the Castlevania games. I'd love to get into Zelda too but every time I try it I get no more than 2 minutes in think nah life's too short and I just know I lack what it needs. Chiplifter 3 is great I stuck that on yesterday.
I know what you mean.😁
Congrats on getting halfway through the alphabet! I can't help but wonder what it was like for a kid who bought Mario is Missing or Mario's Time Machine without knowing they were half-assed educational games. Seriously, if you just look at the titles, they sound like they'd be awesome - they might be the biggest bait-and-switch in the edutainment industry.
Hello and thank you! Good to hear from you! Those Mario games are a shocker! Far worse than I thought!
Markos magic football? Is that a remake of soccer kid, or a rip off?
Yeah, probably ripoff actually as it came out a year after.....
Great comparison as always! - I'd slightly disagree on the C64 difficulty though - I had the EXACT same struggles because I was too gung-ho - I found that if I was happy with slower progress, taking out enemies more frequently (plus, ALWAYS jumping for those brown-coated gits!), I actually made decent progress - One of the tricks is holding onto those all-powerful flamethrower charges, unless you absolutely need to fire it - they make the game (and end of level one, as I saw you also doing on the Speccy and arcade versions) MUCH easier on C64. Having said that, I've never completed the game without cheating, lol! - I can get to the end of level 2 quite easily now, and even sometimes, onto level 3, but you're right - there's a LOT of luck involved at that point!
Cheers for the tips! I've since completed the NES version but not the C64......yet 😁
Great video Seb! - and LOVE that restoration - what a difference! ....and WHAT a game... ❤ I saw it demoing at the 8th or 9th Commodore Show at Earls Court back in the day, and didn't think much of it, it was so different! - couldn't control it either.... Boy, was I wrong.... One of my all-time favourite C64 games now, and my younger brother Jim used to love controlling Nifta! - Good memories, and an AMAZING soundtrack... sublime....
Cheers! Never played it with someone else, bet it's fun!
I’d have had wheelie in there to be honest
Great game!!!
Absolutely brilliant two-parter. I was born in 1969 so grew up through the golden age of the home computer and the video arcades. Not ashamed to say I had a tear or three at that ending montage. Oh to turn back time. The 80s were truly the best of times.
Lovely comment 🥰 thank you.
There were only two i envied, Great Than a Sisters and Thing on a Spring
Might be one of the earliest 'its not a bug, its a feature'!
Mega lo Mania turned out to be a dark horse when our quest for Dune-like RTS raged on. No direct control, but thorough planning and fine resource management plus some simple diplomacy. That game is a hidden gem indeed! And to my mind its way better than Two Tribes or Power Monger (if to talk about games of God-emulation genre)
If I recall correctly (I may not be getting the format right) the artist on Marko's Magic Football had a huge falling out with the programmer, who was apparently a bit of a "know it all" but not, you know, very good at it.
Ooooh I can understand why. The graphics are very good!!
I just today got a SNES mini and put some extra games on. I've saved your playlist to my library so I'm going to start on this series and watch a few every day. Love your humour too which I hope I've told you before. Keep up the great work anyways.
Ooooh love it! I'm doing similar with a handheld emulator thing I bought last Christmas. I put all the games I like so far on it and play it once in awhile. I took it on holiday and had great fun! Thanks for the comment, appreciate it!
So then after the round of explaining and showing the games I'd put forward:- Magic Sword Micky Mania Mortal Kombat Mr Do Mr Nutz Though why play the arcade conversions when I can boot up Mame and play the real thing. Graphics though goto Micky Mania and Mr Nutz.
Yeah, sometimes the SNES port might have a certain charm about it over the arcade version or be changed slightly so its not a money maker as the original would have been. Mr Do was a weird one though but a good port regardless. I was disappointed with Mortal. Thought I would enjoy it more. Cheers mate
Megalomania is one of my favourite games ever, i replay it at least every couple of years. I hate megaman, he's a stupid head. Mortal kombat was always terrible 💩. Look forward to O 😂
😂😂 you not interested in the 367 different NBA, NHL and NFL games? Megalomania looks like a game I should play on an Amiga rather than a SNES and yeah Mega Man does look odd eh 😁
Wasn't there a game called Arrgrrghh - that was incredible difficult?
This one? spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/45/ZX-Spectrum/Aaargh
@@SebsPlaceYT Yeah, it must be that one. Just remember it is incredibly difficult, this maybe also the low modern score
@13:44 Thank you so much Seb! - I think you may by mere chance, just have uncovered one of the greater mysteries of modern times (or at least to me), of why Steve says "Solid!" so bloody often in his "StezStix Fix" repair-videos 🤣
🤣🤣 I did think of adding him.saying it, but wasn't sure how many people would get it. 😁😁
@@SebsPlaceYT Well, that's probably for the best, since I doubt "many people" would enjoy being associated with me 🤣🤣
@@SebsPlaceYT Well, that may probably be for the best. Since you know, I'm quite a stretch away from "many people", and frankly rather doubt that most of them would enjoy the association. 🤣🤣
Great vid, I am surprised not one Ultimate play the Game title to be here, Atic Atac, Under Wurlde, Jet Pac, Sabre Wulf! Still loved Exolon and a lot of the other games mentioned here. Where's Star Strike as well?
Cheers! A lot of those games were too early, so didn't get reviewed.
I loved the imagination and vibes of Kokotoni Wilf. Special game. Forgot all about it almost 40 years later, though. Thank you for the reminder!
😊
I blame Sinclair Abuser. No Rex? No Starglider? No Tir Na Nog and not even a sniff of Trapdoor or Bionic Commando! I'm sure both YS and Crash gave those top marks.
Worse? Easy... Schizoids by imagine... Anything by The Power House...
Loved part two. Good memories shared and fantastic stories of those games.
The Spectrum is fun for Americans like myself, because it's like reading about gaming from another planet.
Ha - brilliant
Very similar to the BBC Micro version I remember
Though I just remebered; it was hilarious-er for a few extra minutes due to his scream when he died. The others dont seem to have it.
