#LearnMusicTogetherwithaGlobalPerspective #learnworldmusic #learnmusic #learnmusiconline #learnmusiceasily #learnmusictheory #shutran #judytran #solfege #solfège
Welcome to Module 1 of our family music fundamentals course featuring music from around the world! This course is designed for parents/ guardians to learn with their children together. Module 1 teaches all about the Major scale. This is the fourth video of Module 1. This video is quite a bit more advanced than the first three lessons. If you feel lost in this video, go back to Modules 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3. You must know how to hear/sing the Major scale in solfege and scale degrees. This lesson goes on to use the scale degrees to learn a whole song, using all of the notes' relationships to scale degree ^1 (Do). We will learn "A vous dirai-je Maman" from France, today most widely-known as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", and "Akin wowo" from the Yoruba tribe of West Africa. We hope you enjoy learning music together!

The Rainbow Connection through Autism is Trust One of my favorite songs growing up and still is "Rainbow Connection" by P. Williams and K. Ascher, as sung by the all-famous Kermit the Frog. Beyond it's being charming, this song has special significance for me and my brother, Peter, who struggles with severe autism that prevents him from speaking and causes him to have severe catatonia that prev...

My wish for Christmas 2020 is summed up in the third verse of this carol: "Truly He taught us to love one another. His law is love, and His gospel is peace. Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother, and in His name, all oppression shall cease." May peace and justice reign on earth! I arranged "O Holy Night" in a West African style by playing with the original 6/8 time signature of th...

We Shall Overcome and Ish e agbe

Despite major hurtles that have yet to be crossed on our world's journey to freedom for all people, if we are patient and persistent, we shall overcome someday. I combined "We Shall Overcome" and "Ish e agbe" in this improvisation to illustrate the fact that we must work together as a world community to create peace. "Ish e agbe" is a West African Yoruba folk song that says that we must all wor...
Playing Through Autism - boy with autism plays Arirang on Piano

Rather than allowing this debilitating disease to get us down, my brother and I have been playing through autism on the piano. N wo na kokor iere - African Music on Piano

West African traditional music is surprisingly easily adapted to being played on piano, especially when you have four hands to perform it. West African music is polyrhythmic in nature and polyphonic. This music relies on the communication between ensemble members in call and response as well as improvisation in response to the contributions eachother makes to the thick, intense rhythmic fabric....

    Well, it's a bit/very confusing; especially for beginners. (I am NOT a beginner and I'm also known to African rhythms, btw). First: why don't you simply use BLACK writing for a better readability? Second and much, much more important and already mentioned before: the rhythm you play is a 12/8! For me it appears: you heard the RINGING but you don't have a clue where the bell is HANGING... All in all it's another nice example of the poor American education. - Just talking about a topic, makes you an expert? - because nobody will know that you don't have any clue what you're talking about... AND... YOU don't have a clue what you're talkin' about... Lady, you are a beautiful women, but please get some IN-DEPTH education about the topic you are trying to teach. Even a BEAUTIFUL teacher WITHOUT serious education and background knowledge is a BAD teacher. In my humble opinion, you don't have any clue about the topic you are trying to teach. My suggestion: spend some time in Ghana, listen to the drummers and the rhythms they are playing, analyze the inter-action of the various drummers in an ensemble ; talk to them,... And finally, but most important: become member of such an ensemble. Only THEN you have the needed knowledge to teach about African rhythms. All in all you give a nice example why the rest of the world is laughing about "American" education!!! >A one-eyed clueless is trying to teach the blind> Keep on doing your fantastic work and humor the rest of the world. The world needs more clowns like you, life is much to serious.

    • @drumstudiomonchengladbach8131
      @drumstudiomonchengladbach8131 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adamtabachnikoff9652 It wasn't my intention to be mean... Some vids of this series are VERY GOOD, but THIS one is simply made by s.o. who has no clue of African rhythms. African rhythms are not based on OUR/WESTERN concept of "ONE" In African rhythms every beat can be the "one"- meaning the "starting" beat of a pattern.

    It’s funny to see people who can’t play talking like if they were master of the discipline. Your theoretical explanation is confusing. Words are wrong, you are mistaking the concepts of beats and inner beats, then the concept of beats and accents which are two different things you don’t want students to confuse. Your explanation is a musical non sense... Nobody writes a 3/4 over a 6/8 this is wrong from the western notation standpoint and for musicians a 3/4 is not a 6/8. There is no magic here you don’t know what you are talking about. BTW the rhythm you play is not a 6/8 but a 12/8.

      For sure you are not an academy- graduated-pianist as she is! What she is doning here is called 'vertical-Hemiola' which is used a lot also in classical western music. Plus, if this is not 6/8, so what is doing that african drummer sitting there? Is he an ignorant musician as well ???

      Super unnecessary comment, I think the issue is clearly not in the video... :D I Love the explanation in the video, love the way it's presented, and love the energy! 12/8 . 6/8 . 3/4 who cares how it's notated, the music speaks for itself and we can hear and feel it through the video <3
