Talking With Children About Current Events

We hear you and share your stress regarding recent current events.
The most important message we need to share with our children is they are safe and loved. Ask how they’re feeling. Validate their feelings and listen to what they are saying (with their words and their bodies!). It is okay to let them know your feelings as well (“It’s confusing to me, too.”). If they ask questions about events, answer in a calm and brief (and age appropriate manner) without sharing too many details on current events. It is okay to let them know we don’t have all the answers … but that we are all working to make sure they are always safe and loved!
