  • Scavenger hunts have many benefits … children build educational skills (learning through observation), problem-solving skills, exercise body and mind, and when done in groups, it promotes teamwork.
This scavenger hunt can be done indoors or outdoors - all you need is your five senses to explore your surroundings. We all have 5 senses that our body uses to explore things. Search for items around you which match each of your senses. Describe these items in detail.
Sight: We use our eyes to look at things. Now … find 5 things you can see!
Sound: We use our ears to hear noises. Now … find 4 things which make noise!
Touch: We use our hands and skin to touch and feel things. Now … find 3 things with texture!
Smell: We use our nose to smell. Now … find 2 things which smell
Taste: We use our mouth and tongue to taste. Now … find 1 thing which you can taste.
Have your family participate in the activity and compare your findings. Describe and compare each of the items as well as any related sensations/feelings. Use this as a fun way to explore and be mindful!
