I really like to repair my own vehicles and tinker with anything mechanical. This is my channel 🙂
Trolling motor kayak
I've been tinkering around with this old kayak and having a ball with it! A bunch of simple modifications and a few dollars and this thing is a blast.

Question: I’m trying to find a Peerless 820 but when I search on eBay, it finds everything but what I’m wanting…so is there a specific part number?
@davej1903 It is an 820 043 this is a 3-speed version of it on eBay www.ebay.com/itm/144929212377?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=qRdesEIfTvC&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=V0x2VhWEQ5S&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
That really turned out nice! 👍 We never did get your follow-up video, with it splashing around in the creek, and giving it another listen. 🙂 Have you gotten much more time on it since this install? I'm wondering how hot the outside gets after about a half hour or so of riding? I agonized for a time, when trying to decide which muffler I was going to go with. I ended up getting the Walker (Stanley) Muffler (glass pack) 21040. It's for small utility tractors, so it was a good match.
@SteveKluver Thanks Steve, I took it out today and I think I finally got it dialed in. I haven't done any videos lately 😕 I need to get back on the ball LOL
@SteveKluver just looked at the Stanley it looks like a nice quiet one, not a bad idea.
With soldered connections, you can have more confidence that your motor's receiving all the power your battery has available.
Oh no! We live and learn, I guess . . . 😃 Great video content! I don't think you've ever mentioned your wheel spacers, and adapter. Where did you get those? By the way, that's a great looking skid plate too.
@SteveKluver Thanks Steve, I bought those spacers on ebay. www.ebay.com/itm/134819645389?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=9nielpu_qga&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=V0x2VhWEQ5S&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Thank you very much, @@goose278 The hubs that you have them bolted to now, are they stock to this mower? The main reason I ask that is. I find it hard to believe that the hubs have set screws on them, which of course as you have seen, bugger-up the axle a bit, each time they are taken off and re-installed again. That's more of a 'dry environment, stationery electric motor to shaft' way of doing things Most mowers I have worked on, have a channel bolted onto, or held over the end of the transmission housing (you have those holes available on yours there too), that acts as a seal guard, and then the axle has a 'bushing' slid over it, and some spacer shim washers. Which of course forces the use of the snap ring on the end of the axle shaft again, and allows the hub to move back and forth (float a bit) on the axle just a bit. About 1/32 of an inch is a good target amount for the 'float' range. This tiny bit of movement helps to keep the axle shaft to hub from rusting into place.
@@SteveKluver yes, that was a lucky break for me.
Only watched this to remove that piece of crap from my Miata. Why would anyone want crap? IT WILL LITERALLY KILL YOU.
Looks nice... great video..
Thanks Joel
That's awesome, considering a 2 stroke.
2 strokes are okay, had one and had to carry a couple of tools becos the vibration would loosen nuts & bolts . . . now i got a 4 stroke - gotta love that that pull start 🚴♀
You might have to get you one so he has someone to ride with😁
Saw one yesterday but it was too far gone..
“I touch myself…” she’s a beaut! I’ve been looking to build something like this for a while, it seems like these old dirty bikes are worth their weight in gold though now with what people want for them even when they’re clapped out…
That quad looks brand new! I’m sure he’ll be riding it around on his own soon!
I love it. That thing is gorgeous. It sounds great too.
Thanks Jason, I've owned since 1983. It's always been there for me
Thank you. This video was a huge help.

The tricycle is ok but the Pedals SUCK. Haven't come up with a good way to fix them yet.
That thing is fantastic! It looks brand new! Sounds great, nice throttle response and all of it! The kids will definitely love that especially with the paw patrol logo all over it!
lovely job... great looking bike..
Thanks Magpie!
@@goose278 it's my aim to have a four stroke engine. I've had the wee 49cc two stroke chinese thing for 12 years now, it still runs okay on the flats😊😉 it's lost it's power for the hilly bits😆😂😂 I tried a longer pipe which increased the power, yet the tick over had to be stupidly high to prevent it from stalling when stopped in traffic😆😅😂 plus, the clangity clang of the two stroke gets a bit much after 20 minutes🤔🥴😜 great inspiration, thank you...
Yes, I like the belt transmission for these, beware of the chain type I would say .
I had one of these with similar problems but mine has only 1 ring that worked and it was the 2nd compression ring so it smoked real bad but even after rebuilding it I didnt have the tools to replace the valve seals so it still smoked. So then i traded it out for a Dirtbike
Yeah they're easy to work on but so cheaply built. I hope the dirt bike was good 👍
Nice work! I love seeing kids out in the shop. Something tells me they’re gonna be very excited to get on that thing and try it out! Great video too, looking forward to the next episode!
Thanks Jason, my grandson wants to paint it blue like Paw Patrol. Just put the muffler on and adjusted the carb, and it runs good. It needs everything but still fun to fix up with them. The parts are so cheap on Amazon and Ebay.
@@goose278 I was surprised when you said the head was like $40! But yes I had a bit of an experience with that Chinese dirt bike we got from the scrapyard. Whole motors are just a couple hundred dollars I think in some cases less. I noticed those little motors can rev up like crazy and they just go. That quad you hit there is probably pretty fast for a little guy! I know the kids will love it!
Hello! Do you know how long that rod was?? I bought one for a cb750. It’s the same length rod that I just took out. 89mm long. Not sure this is correct
Not sure but the one on my 750 was perfect. Putting on 500 carb had to be modified if that helps
@@goose278 So that rod you modified was for the cb750 originally is what I’m understanding?? Thanks for the reply
@davidphelps3615 yes sir
The exhaust came out great! Sounds good too and also sounds like good throttle response. You definitely get a front row seat to that exhaust note! I love the whole build! Thank you for another great video!
Oh man! Sorry I’m late to the party! I’ve been so busy and I’m subscribed to so many channels it’s sometimes hard to keep up with everything! Anyway! Love your exhaust system and that new V twin engine! I did catch the photo of that Predator V twin exhaust system 😅 but yeah, it’s looking really good! Sounds great too! I bet the neighbors were loving it 😂 I’m about to watch the next video with the exhaust wrap, great video and sweet ride!
did you soak the wrap before useage as thats what your supposed to do as then it will tighten as the exhaust heats up any way nice work
Oh I didn't know that, glad you mentioned that. I think I heard that before. I appreciate the advice. If it loosens up I will. Got a bunch left..
Some wraps require the soak and some don’t. I bought both of mine at the local auto parts store and the brown color stuff said to moisten it but don’t saturate and the black stuff I got said no water at all…
Nice bike ...35 mph is pretty good.
Молодец зделал хорошо! Осталось некторые детали - бензобак всё портить, спусти под раму бензобак или другой делай и переди амортизации делай и будет смотреться классно! 😊👍
There is this black rubber ring seal in the repair set. Where does that belong to? And the tube shaped one as well?!
I'm not sure which one you mean. On the low end adjustment screw, there's a small o ring inside there. The tube shaped one Might be for the accelerator pump shaft? It's been a couple of years. I can't really remember.
Thanks for that fast answer :) I guess, i just wait for the perfomance and if something fails... @@goose278
Tottaly awesome
Thanks, I need to put out a new video.
Just watched this, looks like the weld broke! That's what I thought happened to mine at first too. But I was pulling over 8,000 pounds with mine the day after I welded it....Anyway hopefully it doesn't happen again!
Plus you welded in between the gears, should be good to go. Like you, I thought about adding weld so the gear’s couldn’t gain momentum before stopping against the weld in between the teeth. However, I thought about it after the fact. However it seems to be holding up just fine and I’ve definitely beat the crap out of it doing stuff for video content I wouldn’t normally do 😅. Plus I’ve got at least 4 other complete transmissions in stock so it doesn’t really bother me too much if I break one. If you don’t mind me asking, what is it you do for work? Seems like you have some experience in the blue collar field?
I'm gonna keep an eye out for a good deal on a one inch keyed shaft. I really would rather have a straight axle with a doc locker. Just wanting to ride it LOL.😊
I drive for Averitt Express local LOL freight
😆 LTL
@@goose278yes sir, I would like a straight axle myself! But as long as the welded gears hold up, there’s no need I guess
If I had to guess, I’d say the shaft broke, not the welds. It happened to mine also. I’ve got the Peerless 2300 in mine and I think you’ve got the 820? The Bull gear and carriers in both of them are basically identical. I welded the shaft to the gears, and I welded in between the teeth of the axle gears, so that if it broke, the gears could not mesh and it would still be “locked”. After it broke, I thought the welds broke but after investigating it I found the pinion gear shaft itself is what sheared in half. I put it back together with another shaft from another transmission. This time I did not weld the gears to it. I just left it with the welds in between the teeth of the spider gears. It’s not locked up tight like a solid axle or anything but it seems to be holding fine and both wheels will still turn at the same time. It’s actually a little more forgiving because the wheels can move slightly independently of each other and it seems to help just pushing it around in the shop. Anyway, I did a video on how I initially welded it and another one where I opened it up after it broke. The whole thing started by watching Redzz02 video on how to weld/ lock a 2300 series transmission which is linked in the description of the first video. You might just go with a solid go cart axle and doc locker at this point though, plenty of videos on that out there too
Thanks Jason, I will check it out. Looks like content for another video!
Great video, pretty soon here we’re gonna be putting fluid in my son’s Wheel Horse tires. If you haven’t driven it already, I think you’ll like the weight up front. Especially with a locked rear axle. Mine doesn’t plow the front tires like it did and, I definitely feel more confident about the front not wanting to come up on inclines or taking off fast. My wife was sitting here next to me watching this on the living room TV and she says you’re adorable 😅. She’s not the biggest fan of tractor stuff either, at least not mine 😂
LOL, 😊 yeah I have ridden it and it feels much more stable plus I Finally climbed my hill from the creek. Plus they have a little squish. Man that b&s twin sounds so good I might put it in there soon.
V twin for the big win 👍🏻👍🏻 I’d like to see that!
Thanks for sharing, that filter set up looks factory and it looks like something a car would have. My van has an air filter similar to that it’s cylindrical. Anyway, that gives me an idea because I just have an air filter clamped right on the end of my carburetor Intake. I’ve tried jetting the carburetor up and down, but I can’t get rid of the off idle stumble. I think maybe like you said it’s just two free-flowing. I don’t think I’m gonna do something like you’ve got there with mine (but I think it needs more of a restriction maybe.
Maybe something from a motorcycle or something like that. You could run a hose to it. I didn't realize how much noise my carburetor was making until I put that on. It's quieter too.
That thing looks and sounds great. That 820 is so cool because you can shift on the fly. I have an 801 in the 111 and it’s the same way it’s just not pulley swapped, but you can shift on the fly with it. The next tractor I build is going to have an 820! The one thing that I don’t like about the tractor I’ve got is that you cannot shift on the fly like that with the peerless 2300. Anyway, your tractor is bad ass, and I’d like to see some more footage of that thing doing some ripping!
Thanks sir! I really was happy to see that thing Shift like that too, it is working out really well. It's all locked. I welded the diff and I Swapped the front and rear pulleys. The next step is going down to the Creek. Like you guys, I've got a steep point and I'm afraid I might flip.😮
Oh yeah and I see those 820s make a good lathe😄
Yes, it does make a good improvised lathe 😅 I need to invest in a real one! I’ve gotten more comfortable driving up “steep” inclines around the yard but still haven’t tried to drive up the trail behind my house. When I look up at it from the driveway, I’m just not ready to go there.😅
That heat shield came out fantastic! Looks like it’s all lit up and ready to rip!
Yeah! Been riding it. Video soon, I put a short out "gettin a little mud on the tires" thanks man.
Ya done good! She looks righteous for a mo-ped! Something (unlike most) I (being a man) would not be embarrassed to ride!
Nice ,except that exhaust is Goin to melt your foot off.
LOL Thanks Ray! I'll keep an eye on that.
Way cool Dude!
Looking forward to seeing it drive!
Nice work! I really like that battery switch. That build is sure coming along beautifully! My son was wondering what transmission you have in it? We are sitting here watching on TV, forgive me if I asked before or you mentioned it on a previous video!
Hey Jason, thanks for the input! This horse has the peerless 820. Our weather in GA. is not too bad , looks like we're warming up on Thursday. Should be able to get some time in running her out back. Hope the ice is melted up your way.
It’s been below freezing for an entire week here. Tomorrow is supposed to be a high of 47 and then the next 3 days it’s gonna be high 30’s in the morning and high 50’s to low 60’s in the afternoon with rain Tuesday through Thursday. I think that will get rid of the ice finally. Thank you for the information on the 820, we will be looking out for your video!
