    I don't make music with it. I use the old one to send midi commands to Ableton via notes. The track that listens to it then does whatever i told it to do when it hears that note. So I can trigger pretty much anything- lights, videos, jumping song sections, stop start and .. .in hands free looping situations I have to have a not for each loop track to 'auto-arm' . That part is stupid in Albleton (why can't tracks auto-arm). Anyway.. heres the question... I wonder if Ableton has a CC for stop start instead of sending a note which in turn is mapped to the stop/start buttons. all that. Maybe I should ask Ableton.

    • @thisisNOISEinc
      @thisisNOISEinc 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      NM2 should work nicely in this type of setup with the ability to preconfigure the buttons to notes, CC, or PC MIDI commands. You should be able to use the same method used to map notes to the stop/start but using a CC command instead. Not entirely sure if there's existing MIDI properties for these. Definitely a question for the Ableton Forums! 😅

      @@thisisNOISEinc Thanks! Even if I still ahve to send notes, that's okay. So, I never got into the software with the old NM1. Were the buttons fully assignable as well like the new one? In other words, I assumed octave 1 C1-B1 was set - like Octave 1; C1 was always that and not changeable. IS that correct and that's a big difference with the new one? Thanks.

      Out of gate, NM2's customizability for the buttons will be for MIDI specific actions (triggering notes, CC, and PC messages), but we could see more features outside of the typical MIDI message use case being added in future software updates (dependent on demand, of course 🙌).

    It's much more solid and gig-able than it looks but also light weight enough to stick to something with velcro. I think the knob and slider should be reversed. The slider is better suited for interaction while making music (changing an envelope - like when DJs ride the sliders for turntable volume) and the knob would be better for selecting 1-7 banks IF it was notched like a 7-way switch. Currently the slider selects the bank and the led goes on and off to tell you you changed banks. (they make notched sliders and that would be a slight improvement) . I'm currently using the first bank *all the way left) and the last bank (right) because those are easiest to select live without being slow and careful while watching the LED. I do not play music or trigger sounds though. I just use it to send commands to Ableton to control things on stage from my guitar.

I’ve only had it for a couple weeks, but I’ve been able to make full songs with it on the go using Analog Labs V and Ableton. Drums, chords, bass, leads, everything with no cables and no latency. Plus the battery lasts longer then my computer battery. I ended up being more excited about this than the synth lol.

      No offense taken at all! The main 3 main reasons someone would want Noise Machine is #1. If you want a portable yet tactile experience while making beats on the go, or #2. You're a performer that needs to trigger different MIDI functions on stage (i.e., strap it to your guitar, belt, etc...), or #3. You have a large setup of other gear and need something you can have in your hand for MIDI triggering that doesn't take up desk space. Of course, there are other reasons, but we find that these 3 are the most typical ones 🙂
