    Such a great video! Thank you!!! I'm currently struggling with the very last aspect you mentioned: having a plan. My toddler tends to test ALL the boundaries during bedtime. We've set really good boundaries and have a great bedtime routine UNTIL he's in bed (getting ready, always two books, etc). It doesn't start until he's actually in bed: He starts climbing around his bed, plays with stuffed animals, throws them out of the bed. I know that all my "solutions" aren't great and also aren't getting me anywhere (gently telling him to lay back down, taking away stuffed animals, yelling, getting mad) and at some point I completely lose my cool and often say I'll leave the room if he doesn't stop. Eventually there's yelling, crying and I'm starting to get scared of bed time. My number one priority is raising him knowing he's always safe (especially emotionally). But I simply don't know what MY PLAN should be. How I should plan to react differently :/ I'd love your input :))

    3:27 its not in your "tool box"... but here you are telling parent's it's okay. Stop promoting this disgusting practice. BABY'S CRYYYYYY. They need the parent connection. If you dont think you can handle a crying baby for hours -- then dont have them!

      Generally speaking the AAP wants all babies to be put down on their backs to minimize the risk of SIDS. Being on their side can increase the risk of rolling onto stomach which is not advised, hence it's not encouraged. Of note, many babies with acid reflux are more comfortable on their left side down or while being held upright in people. Something to think about.

    My little one fights the third nap like crazy.. but his rest 2 naps are also catnaps.. so by 1:30 he is done with his second nap and his bedtime is 7.. from 1:30 to 7 it’s a long wake window for a 7 month old. So we try to get him a third nap around 4 to 5 pm but he fights that like a warrior.. what should we do ?

    I found your book to be very helpfull. Worth the price for sure. I was a little confused about one thing, that is if I can dream feed a one year old? I was advised by a sleep consultant to feed my baby when she wakes up on her own at set times three times a night. However, I am starting to think I am reinforcing the crying, because she cries when she wakes up.

    • @HelpingBabiesSleep
      @HelpingBabiesSleep 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Glad you found the book helpful. YES, I agree, the waking and feeding on demand often reinforces the behavior. At age 1 it's highly unlikely that child needs to eat in the night unless you have extenuating circumstances, but the good news is you can absolutely do a dreamfeed at that age. If you found the book helpful, I would be so grateful for an Amazon review to help other parents like you! www.amazon.com/Helping-Babies-Sleep-Method-Teaching/dp/B08WS9DWCB

    Not once in my life have I cared where the bed was in regards to how well I slept or how safe I felt. As a matter of fact, when I was younger and still lived with my parents my daybed was in the middle of the wall. You could put my bed literally smack dab in the middle of the room, facing away from the door to boot, and I wouldn't care one iota. My home is what makes me feel safe, not where I position my bed.

      You decide what an appropriate time to feed is and you decide. You move away from feeding on demand. If she feeds on demand all day in the daytime, then she'll expect to do so at night. So work on daytime and night time. But this also puts you into a little sleep teaching if feeding to sleep is her sleep association. IN my book or online class I teach you how!

    I need some help, my baby who is 7 weeks old is sleeping 5-6 hrs stretches at night from 8pm to about 2:30am and want to continue sleeping. I am strictly breast feeding and need help with should I wake my baby up at 2:30am to feed the baby or should I let the baby continue to sleep and pump at this time. My breast feel enormous and full but I am confused on what to do. I have not found many videos to help with this transition. As of now I have been waking my baby feeding him and putting him back to bed. Where he then feeds 3 hrs later. He is very alert during the day and will only take a couple of 10 min naps. Thank you for the advice in advance!!

    • @HelpingBabiesSleep
      @HelpingBabiesSleep หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, we can't answer this because we don't know what this baby's weight is, and if they're maintaining their weight curve but the safe thing to do is to wake them up around 2:30 am and feed. This helps relieve your engorgement, helps keep baby hydrated and satiated. This is a great stretch of sleep for this age and you're doing great. FOr the naps, in the daytime you want to try to initiate sleep at around 1 hour of being awake at this age. Our book or Newborn online class would find very helpful in guiding you!
