Hi everyone! Welcome to Buttstroke Swimming: An independent swim media organization that provides modern, unique, and humorous coverage of the swimming world! Most of what we do will be on Twitter, but here on TH-cam is where we'll be putting out more of our quality content. Things like race videos, swim history videos, interviews, reactions, and so much more will call this channel home!
This World Record Should've Fallen By Now
United States swimmer & Olympic Gold medalist Ryan Lochte set the World Record in the Men's 200m IM way back at the 2011 World Championships in 1:54.00.
Over 13 years later, that record still stands despite the many talented swimmers who contest this event every year. After 4 Olympics and 7 World Championships, 1:54 is still the standard of excellence in this event leaving just one simple question I ponder in this video... how?

On July 28th, 2011, Michael Phelps & Ryan Lochte faced off for the World Title in the 200m IM in one of the fastest races ever. The end result caused both a power shift in their personal rivalry and put an end to a long drought of human improvement. I decided to explore the greater significance of this moment and take A Look Back at the preceding events, the characters involved, and everything ...

Bullshit refs with dicks in their eyes
Didn't know that ref was a little gaeboi
what a fake organasation
what a trash organization
That is absolutely the dumbest ruling in all of swimming.
Good for his teammate for standing up for him and refusing to take the #1 spot away from him
didnt really care if he was circumcised or not but thanks for putting it in the title i guess
Disqualifying someone just because he celebrated is probably the most stupid disqualification I have ever seen
Yeah there sum political hoohahs goin on here.😊
Some jealous old fools who probably couldnt swim a single lap to save their lives.
If you're fun involves being judged by other people, you're doing it wrong.
The ref should never be allowed to ref for anything ever again.
Punishing excellence.
I guarantee you the judges were jewish. Only a jew could make such an evil decision
oh my god those teeth lol
I love how even the announcers were with him
I'm not a damn Athlete, and I already hate the peoples who disqualifies Ahtletes for this kind of bullshit excuses with a burning pation, I hope they'll suffer the consequences, and will know how it feels like, being unfairly screwed like that after so much sweat and tears dropped from hardwork.
The ones enforcing this idiotic "rule" must be the same kind of people who let tr*n*ies into women's sports.
comments are dumb. rules are rules. A harsh lesson but a lesson nonetheless and he'll never do that again.
And so the world lost a bit more of its colour.
@@danielcarlsen9228 maybe. but people really expect the committee to say 'oh well, we'll just look the other way this time. We'll forget the rules'? Be angry at the rules, not at the implementation of them. Easy DQ decision.
@@MrMooremelody One could argue that he didn't disrupt still racing swimmers.
And yet they allow a man in women's swimming. Logic?
This is a rule that needs to be in place. And if you enforce it when someone finishes, then hops over and blocks another racer from touching to finish, then you have to enforce it here in this case. This is literally equality by definition, which sucks in this case, but is equal and fair... If you support equality in other instances (race, gender, classification), then you also should support this ruling. Im not spewing my own beliefs, as i mentioned i dont like it in this case, im just pointing out why it is a necessary rule in todays culture with everyone standing up for fairness and equality
The other racer was also finished.
@ I know! I used a hypothetical situation to explain the case where they aren’t :) Read again if you are having trouble
@@killa2488 Well you could apply the rule differently if the conditions are different. If you block a still racing swimmer, DQ, if you jump over to finished swimmer, warning for being inconsiderate to the still racing swimmers. No trouble reading here.
@@danielcarlsen9228 sorry I just thought you had trouble because you said what I said in your first reply, no worries! Ya you’re right, and it would be nice if your idea was in place. But then it becomes judgement under circumstances and people complain about stupid things like “he didn’t even have a chance to win!”. With everyone screaming equality nowadays, this fits into what it has to be
Common referee L
What in the political hell?
Hope these refs get turds in their stockings.
just a reminder to everybody that sports were created for people to have fun, what an absolute dork of a ref
Showed the devils sign with his hand. God made him pay the price.
If the rule exists and he is competing professionally...did he not realize he was breaking a rule? He is a champion...of idiots.
The fact than a top athlete can perform amazingly and a nerd behind a table who probably losses his breath after climbing up the stairs can be like "he defeated everyone by a long distance, but he celebrated to much and I don't like that so he lost" it's absurd.
The best part is, we all know he won. It was recorded. Their silly competition rules can't change what actually happened and we can all agree that despite being disqualified, he was the guy
Bulls*it. He finished the race so they've got it wrong.
That's ridiculous 😮 Poor guy.
That is the DUMBEST call I've ever seen in a sport. Those refs should be blacklisted from ever working in a sport again.
Hilarious! Serves him right for being so smug!, next time take victory with humility and humbleness! 😂 Loved it
That was a ridiculous ruling!
You see sheer horror in his eyes when PA announced his disqualification. This is beyond sport cruelty.
Well, he could have just respected the rules and stayed in his own lane to celebrate ..
bs
American teeth 😂 But yeah, the judges should be fined for this. Twats
American teeth?
@@jaylona2 Yeah, all fucked up and yellow because they can't afford a dentist due to private healthcare
Who was the ref, lemme talk to em
Some people just hate to see you win.
There was no “interference” at all! The only reason he crossed lanes was because they were hugging out of victory! He won fair and square, and his good sportsmanship should be noted for something. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say AI was now taking over sports
How do we know he's uncut?
why does he remind me of a famous actor idk
Paul Mescal?
Lip from shameless ?
Interference? The guy he celebrated with finished the race. Do the judges have cataracts???
This is just like war. Rules are made for fair play but some old men would do all in their power to use them in a way that would entartain theem. It was more than dumb.
Ref is a douche.
Why are referees just terrible in every sport? lol
thats what he gets for showing the devils hand gesture when he won. good.
Rules are rules this dumbass broke them 😂
i don't see what him being uncircumcised has to do with this
i hope the judges got some kind of punishment for doing something so outrageous (even tho i doubt it). poor dude was just excited and wanted to share that excitement with his homie.
Sm1 said they overturned the decision and the original guy is going to Nationals. Highly doubt the refs got in trouble, people in power never do :p
