because all i have is a shed..i put new stable in gas to protect from ethonol.i remove spark plugs and oil cylinders and work pistons manually, then remove battery and all leather.i then put on a dolly and roll in corner on top of a tarp to prevent moisture coming up from ground and put a cover over bike and it ok The battery is in house on trickle charger thats on a timer and charger is only on 3 hours a day.. Hows that, ive done it for years
Happy that works for you. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I agree with you man. I used to winterize but don't anymore. Nice point about removing the seat. A couple of seasons ago I had my softail under a nice Harley cover and the I removed it in the spring and my heart dropped. The critters had chewed up my seat and were taking the foam to make a nest behind my furnace in the garage.
Yep. They will chew through anything that’s not metal. Thanks for watching!
do yo use 20w50 mineral on Primary? Here en Buenos Aires harley formula + is too expensive around 60 dolars. Can motor oil be used on primary witn no issues on stator varnish or other issues?
Great question. I always recommend using conventional non-synthetic oil in your primary. Full synthetic oils can cause friction disc slippage. I use regular 20w-50 for Harley motors and primary. I use full synthetic 75w-90 in transmission. On older Harleys I use conventional 50 weight. Harley doesn’t make their own oil. It’s outsourced and rebranded with a Harley label. Hope that helps.
Great video! When I was living in Ohio id run the Harley I had for about 15-20 minutes. That was usually operating temp and then some. I’d obviously have the garage open and it would be 20 degrees with wind coming in so it wouldn’t cause the bike to get too hot or anything.
That’s awesome. And thank you for your kind words.
Nice talk, pretty much agree. Live in the warm south now. HD still sits here and there though. But not like when i lived in 40 below.
Couldn’t imagine 40 below. Thanks for watching!
I like to make sure that my tire pressure is always correct before it sits and keep it checked
That’s a great tip. I always hook my peepers on them and if they look a little low I’ll check. Thanks.
Just picturing your kids running past with pictures of the open road. 😂😂😂
Anything to get through the winter months. Ha. Thanks for watching!
make the helmet a XXL LOL
I still can’t see your email.
there's that leather seat.Loved it.....awwwwe come on.Do some more rough amateur leather work ..saddlebags,tool bags etc.
I’ll keep trying to make my leather skills better. Thanks.
i dont like those float chargers that are attached to the bike for months. Here in argentina all harley guys use those. I think they cook the baterry. Am I wrong?
You are not wrong. My thoughts as well especially with the quality of batteries made today. Thanks for watching.
Well I don't winterize either bike. Because if there is days when the road is clear and it's above 30ish and I have to go somewhere I'd surely rather take the bike..
Same here. Thanks for watching.
👏👏👏👏

Great job getting ready for my first evo apart
Awesome! Best wishes to your repairs!! Thanks for watching.
Harley dont like Heat Gas Treament for V8s .
I didn’t know that. Thanks for the tip.
I Dont know anyone that winterize there Scooter . I Never Bought cheep Gas for My Bikes . Disconnect your juice cables . Lissen to this Man .
Thank you for your kind comments.
Iowa winters suck ::got one in the living room to work on all winter
Probably the best place for it up there! Thanks for watching.
Good information, Kevin. 🍁 I visited my bike often while she sat. :)
Thank you my friend.
3 bikes and 2 automobiles keep me hoppin’ here in the Shenandoah Valley. At least they don’t get stiff as quickly as I do from sitting around. So we all help each other keep those joints lubed and all flexy!
That’s my philosophy too. Thanks for watching.
I really appreciate it man, loved putting in the time to make it and glad you loved it 🤘🤘
I’m so glad you were able to do that. Big things ahead for you in the future!
I put mine in the garage, which is just an old uninsulated one, and in the afternoon found condensation all over the tank and rocker covers, so I cut a hole up high and screwed on a vent over the hole. Fixed that. You don't want air that has warmed from the sun shining on the roof to meet with cold metal causing rust and corrosion. I covered the air filter and put some cut off beer cans over the exhaust and put some pieces of bars of soap around it, like where the seat was to keep mice out. I took the seat off to make an uncovered space, less attractive to mice.
@@raybrensike42 great tips. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Good day Sir To unthaw something is to freeze it. If you do start your bike in the winter. Let it warm up for atleast 5 - 10 minutes to dry the moisture out of the motor. You said that after I watched the whole video..
That’s true. Unthaw is freezing. 🤣 thanks for watching
I live in Michigan. Come October my 2 Harleys get rolled into a storage unit. I fill the tanks and pull the batteries. Come April/Mayish, I roll them out put the batteries back in, check tire pressures and they fire right up. Off i go.....
That’s great. Thanks for watching.

Perfect intro. Good Job Chase.👍🏻
Payton seems to be a good kid. Very talented just like his dad.
Unfortunately, for me, the paint would be the first to go! I hate "raw" metal!!!! Second thing to go would be the rear suspension! I'd be also going back to the mid controls as I'm short!
Thanks for watching.

i dont know if you had the option there in that store, for high density foam. when i made seats i went for that. ideal for seats and helmets cause of its intensive use
Never thought to look for that. But I will be relining another one as a giveaway for our 5k subscriber celebration if we ever make it that far. Thanks for the tip!
Another great video. I was wondering about taking that shifter and piston assembly off of the shift shaft and turn 180 degrees and put it back on the shaft. That would clear it away from the starter and the exhaust pipe. It might move it too far forward on the bike. I was just curious about it. I loved the sporty. Someone is going to get a really cool bike. I really enjoy watching you work on the bikes. Thank you so much and God bless
Thank you for those kind words. And that’s exactly what I wound up doing.
very good videos!, i like the way you explain, simple and slowly very effective way for us to understand. Thnak you. do More sportstersss please ha.

Awesome. Thanks for the directions!
One thing I like a bout Butler customs is The Padre is clear talking no theatrics the Man is to the point and clear The main videos I watch Is Butler . Hippy Slick . Billy Lane . And a ole Boy in washington I cant remember His Name when I remember Il add his name . But You wont go Rong learning from this Man ! 😊
Thank you for those kind words of encouragement and support!
Brigs & stratton 2 or 3 horse piston ? Or a old chain saw piston. Got an Idea You said You might have to go Back to mid pegs .think about this pan has half moon boards . Any 1/4 in aluminum plate laying around or copper plate .
It’s a Kohler
@@butlercustoms if its one needs rebuilt and its smaller then the big piston. Take sharp aries down . Have You thought about foot Boards about little less that 3/4 size of Pan head size . Every one has Pegs Peder You took a Sows Ear and made it in to a Silk Purse . As My GrandDad would say verry Nice ✊️
Foot boards would have been a good idea. And I hope I did her justice.
Another great video thank you for sharing. God bless you and keep up the good work
Thank you for those kind words and for watching!
Got another question for Ya Kevin , Which year model Honda Shadow I think had i think what they called a single pin crank like the Harleys , supposedly Honda & Harley fell out about that ,got any idea?? Early to mid 90's im thinking , just curious, i heard one running & could have swore it was a harley, but was a Honda , shadow im thinking , pickin ya brain !! Thanks !!
Great question. I believe it was the Honda ACE. Which stands for American Classic Edition.
@@butlercustoms TY Again Sir !! IT been a day or two memory failed me !!
@ my pleasure
Another job well done Sir !! Yes Sir , that really puts Light on The Subject !! Nice no doubt , I have a dumb question , I notice you are getting info online for that bike , Would ya mind telling me where to go to look for info , I have a few Harleys & 72 Honda 750 , and aint got the first manuel. Do you just google which yr model bike for it ?? Thanks Kevin , i did enjoy the video Sir !! Take Care Now !!
The manuals you see me use are PDF versions of the service manuals I have stored on my iPad. I don’t trust using forums. Over the years I have acquired many different ones. I like them better than paper as they never wear out. But are sometimes harder to find the exact page you’re looking for.
@@butlercustoms Thank You Sir !!!
