An automotive channel focusing on TRUCKS. I focus my videos on the Chevrolet Colorado and the Ford Maverick!
I do "how to" and install videos with the trucks including off-road tests.
I have owned an XLT Hybrid, an XL AWD Eco-boost and an XLT Tremor Ford Maverick.
We now own a 2024 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss that I am currently making into a an off-road beast.
I greatly appreciate all the viewers and subscribers.
*I use a lot of tools and random parts in my videos. I usually link the parts in amazon to make it easy for people to follow the same process as I did. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Ford Maverick = Fun #shorts
มุมมอง 786ปีที่แล้ว
#shorts The Maverick is SO fun off roading. The extreme lack of travel puts you on 2 and 3 wheels constantly, but the amazing AWD system (and the locking differential on the tremor) gets you through things with ease. Went out recently with my brother and his Raptor, and it was a lot more fun handling things with the Mav. Nothings THAT fun if it’s easy. If you notice the Truck is sitting on 3 wh...

Thanks! Confirmed that it fixed my issue!
Thanks a lots for your help.
I’m considering this RC tonneau it’s nice you can flip it all up if needed. I need to order it soon before tariffs hit lol.
@@Porsche996driver lol, that may be a good idea. Solid bed cover so far!
One big complaint I have is that it’s not fully foldable, only folds back twice. So when you have a big loads You have to un-assemble the cover and and completely remove the entire thing
This is the flip up version. SO it also flips up against the cabin
Thanks for the video, is it possible to fold and secure this cover halfway folded? Say flip the first fold or two and drive around rather than all the way flipped up?
I also have a really bad experience with the Ford dealership. I love my Maverick but I don’t think I going back to the dealership.
Not much room to get it out
To me, the biggest mistake with the Maverick is not offering a small cab 6' bed Maverick. Great review, thankyou. It looks to be a much better plate than what it came with.
Or start doing those beds that open into the cabin.
Thank you, and I agree, but with the unibody construction, that may not ever happen
Is it normal for it have bugs stuck in it?
Maybe one or 2. If there are a ton, you have a problem
@@maverickresource I think whatever type of bug it is got in there before I got the truck. But when I would turn my windshield fan on high they would blow a few of them out of the filter. When I took the filter out I saw them all over it. How are they gettting in there?
@@conman20000 Dang that sounds terrible, I would replace the filter asap haha.
Just found your Channel and love the content. I just got the rough country fender flares but going to wait until spring to get them on, there aren’t many good videos on TH-cam for them, may be something you can do!
Dang I just got my 2024 Maverick Tremor. I guess i have to order this.
Yup! more storage, more mods, always! haha
My dads 1975 maverick leaked as well right off the lot. Glad to see ford keeped up quality control. It lasted 4 years till the frame rotted out. Great memories.
that service from ford was nasty, i would have made noise about that.
That's interesting mine did not have the hinge feature I have a 2024 XLT hybrid. Just had to squeeze the two tabs and pull down.
Random but will this fit on the maverick non 4x4 just XL? Mine has a soft skid plate that I also hate removing to do oil changes etc. This would be great.
Yeah, it’s awesome. I think this is the one you would want www.rival4x4usa.com/products/rival-gen2-aluminum-engine-skid-plate-ford-maverick-awd-fwd-hybrid-fx4-except-tremor
Now you know why most aircraft are made of Aluminum instead of steel... BTW, if you haven't already, and you are going to be doing work on your vehicles, you should invest in a good set of tools like Craftsman, or Snap-on, or Mac Tools. They have a lifetime warranty, and will replace them FOC, if they break.
Agreed. What’s funny is, i have some good sockets and tools, but I just leave this junk set of sockets out in the garage to always easily access them, So I end up using them all the time…when I have better tools stashed away in the tool boxes that I am too lazy to open the drawer and grab haha. I need a better process haha or just not to be lazy
Also, by removing the FX4 skid plate, you have access to change the oil in the front PTO unit. That thing only holds a half quart of oil. Mine didn't even have a magnet on the drain plug. Good idea to change the gear oil in it every other or third oil change. The new plate you have won't allow access to that. Shortcuts like this can lead to unintended consequences later.
I had my FX4 Mav for three years. The skid plate was heavy duty but installed in a logical manner. Just remove the fasteners in the correct order and let it hang from the tabs. Not a big deal. You remove the bolts all willy nilly and yeah, it'll drop on you. Its a minor puzzle. Look at it! Not a big deal. Good job shilling accessories here. I'm old and arthritic. If I can do it, you can do it. To install, just engage the tabs and push the front up and start one bolt. Now it can't drop on your head. Easy!
Good stuff. Thanks.
Nice upgrade!
Thanks, I'm stoked on it
You would have thought the techs in the shop would have requested this to be on the oem plate.
One would think…..
Much needed upgrade for the Mav
I need to look into this. Hopefully it will fit a hybrid. I'm on rough roads a lot and have damaged my paper "skid plate".
lol “paper skid plate”. They did indeed release a version for the hybrid. So you are in luck!
Thank you for the video…used it to install my new Rough Country cover today-quick and easy! Liked and subbed’
Thank you!
Thanks for posting this video. I stalked this cover for a few months before deciding to gift it to myself for Christmas. Your walkthrough made the install a lot easier.
Heck yeah! Glad to be of service
Hey gifting yourself at the end the year is fair lol! Great cover for sure!
This is the only video (besides your longer install/review version) that I found on installing this cover that's Maverick-specific, and I found it very helpful. Thanks for the time and effort to make the vid.
Thanks!
No problem! Thank you! Hope it was helpful
Thank you for this video! I will be doing an update on my Ford Maverick!
No problem! Hope it helps!
Already too much work.
lol
Thanks for these very thorough directions! We just finished installing our new RC cover and are still speaking to each other.😂 I can add two comments that might be helpful to others. 1. We have a bed liner so we removed the sides to locate the plugs and drilled two small holes in the plastic bed liner for the drain hoses. 2. When it is time to turn upside down in the bed of the truck to finish the job, lay on the cardboard the cover came in. It is easier to slide on than the bumpy bed. Thanks again for a great video!
haha Awesome! Hope my video helped a bit. Great pointers too.
Wow, that was not cool...the way they left your truck. I just bought a 2024 FX4 Lariat Maverick (have almost 1K miles already), and I was surprised the skid plate has to be removed to do the oil change--uhg! I may let the dealership do the first oil change with my Ford points. Thanks for the video. Liked and subbed!
yeah, it wasn't cool at all. I just had to let it go. If I have to go to a dealership again, I am choosing another. Congrats on the new truck though! Stay tuned in the next week or so, I am working on a video showing the route I went with to avoid taking the skid plate off each time I do an oil change. I appreciate you watching!
@ oh heck yeah…I’m not a rant and rave kind of guy either, but cmon guys! Looking forward to following your channel. 😎👍
You should also get some weatherstrip for the tail gate
Sold my last Ford in 2011. Terrible vehicle and terrible service. Never again.
Well, I never owned a ford until they released this Maverick a few years ago. Kudos to Ford for putting a little truck on the market for $19k msrp when the rest of the truck market was averaging $60-100k for a stupid truck. Things have changed a little, but Ford stepped up when no one else would back in 2020. Couldn't even find a used cr4ppy truck for under 15k back then
Great video brotha. How do you think it will hold up against thieves? Can anyone come by and open it up when everything is closed?
Thanks! It works great. Someone could not just come by and open it easily. They would have to have a crow bar or hammer to pry it open.
Right when the tailgate is locked it’s not possible to open it. It would make quite a scene if someone ever tried to bust in….
With one piece flares on the front, that will be a pain if you need to replace a radiator. I think that front bumper will have to come off.
I 100% agree with you
Thanks for making this video. I'm confident I can install my cover now, thanks to your direction. By the way, how do you like the Maverick? I love the way they look, and they seem to get good fuel economy.
Glad I can help! I love the maverick. The price is right, the fuel economy is great, and it drives like a subaru. It fits in tight spots and in the garage.
Love my 24 Lariat just got it two weeks ago and 550 miles on my first 13.8 gallon tank for 40mpg average!
How is it keeping the water out?
you know, I am in southern CA, and at this point, I have not dealt with rain etc that much. It keeps dust out really well, and when I go through the car wash, a tad will come in through the tiny area at the corners (closest to the cab). I am actually going to place some of the extra foam Rough Country provided to that area.
How timely it was to find this video. Just received my RC hard tri-fold flip up bed cover yesterday Going to install mine tomorrow. Thanks for posting!
Super stoked you found it. Hope it helps a bit
@@maverickresource I installed the exact same cover in about 45 minutes. It was boxed nicely as yours in the video. After checking and making sure I had everything on the packing list I looked over the supplied instructions and thought, there has to be a better way... I pulled out the phone and replayed the video to se which way the two aluminum clamps went together. Putting all six together and set them aside, I jumped in to the bed of my Maverick and got busy with the install. This is a sturdy and well made kit. I followed along with your video and it was a breeze. Super simple to install. I like it so much more than the no name Amazon cover I bought last year. It was functional. But I really like the full bed (nearly full bed) option with the prop rods, should I need it. Again Thank you for posting your video. I found it much more helpful than the instructions
@@frankbiondo2476 heck yeah haha, I do the same thing for a lot of work I do, queue the video up to the spot I need. Thank god for TH-cam
I'm surprised that you didn't do a break-in oil change at 1k miles. It's one of the best things you can do for a new engine. Even if Ford uses a synthetic blend, which is ridiculous, you should use a full synthetic like everyone does these days. Good luck with your Maverick, I hope the first issue isn't a sign of the future.
I installed mine in Augast, love it. No complaints, just works and it was easy to install as well as removing for full bed use. Also installed tailgate weatherstripping for extra water proofing.
Thanks for the great video! I really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot! Stoked that it was helpful
Thanks for the video! I was able to easily do this with the help of your videos and the shared links.
Amazing to hear. Thank you!
Did you mention you noticed oil leak and bad gasket cause you began your own oil change or you simply didn’t mention any of that and relied on them catching on their own?
I am confused on this comment.... But to clarify, I began my first oil change on the truck, and while performing taking off the skid plate, I noticed an oil leak, so then I took the truck straight to Ford and told them what I found.
@@maverickresource I was just basically asking if you told them you started your own oil change but noticed leak? Knowing dealers or a manufacturer they can put blame on owner to avoid coverage even though it’s clearly their fault.
@@UltraHiDeath Gotcha, I did mention I was in the middle of performing an oil change, but wasn't worried since it was all documented (video). I DO know what you mean though.
I’ll never understand why anybody would use a synthetic blend instead of full synthetic
600.00 for fender flares is stupid
agreed
Went to change my oil after a few free ones that came with the truck from the dealer you should of seen my rounded of bolt made them replace bolt and give me a free oil change after of course arguing about it . Customer is not always right anymore. Rant over!
Best review of the Rough Country cover so far I will also be getting one for my Tremor now!!!
Thanks a lot! It was fun filming it haha. The bed cover is holding up nice, you wont be disappointed.
Just cut holes in the skid plate.
@@nyccontrabass3489 was thinking about that, but about to upload a video this week with a awesome solution
Thank you for the step-by-step instructions! Did you drill the hole in the bed liner to insert the drain plug? My Maverick bed liner installed by Ford doesn't have a hole.
@@rayrodriguez4910 I have the spray in bed liner. Luckily, they preserved the existing holes, so I was able to just throw the drain tube right into the existing holes
I would be more than upset with the service department if I picked up my truck and found they left it open to the elements. No excuse.
