2011-2019 Explorer dash noise from cabin temperature sensor
มุมมอง 30K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Dash noise, almost a buzz, on the driver's side. How to get to the sensor.
How long do you wait after disconnecting the battery? Like a full day?
I give it about five minutes. I honestly don't know if there's a definitive amount of waiting time.
@ Thanks bro 😊
Ford is pathetic making a vehicle that is this difficult to change a freaking headlamp! I hope someone at Ford reads these comments and realizes this alone will keep me from ever buying another one!
Ford isn't the only one....
I have changed my headlight bulbs in my explorer without pulling all this stuff off, but mine are regular halogens.
Great video
You absolutely can do it this way, by removing the bumper, but that's seems crazy because it is crazy, and there's a far quicker way that i would argue is less taxing than this. It may require you to grab a specific tool set that's nice to have, and isn't expensive, (harbor freight, something like a precision screwdriver set and it needs to have the bendable driver extension) a set of technician's precision screwdriver set that i think is 20 bucks. The proper tool always makes things easier, and specifically, the bendable extension that comes with the set is the key, and it's possible to do this without said tool but it's much more difficult. The set comes with the proper size driver that's needed as well. With the sleeved, articulating, bendable extension one can drive a fastener while the main driver is in a position that normally would make fastening impossible.
Thanks!!!
Thank you so much, this was super helpful!
The bumper cover DOES NOT need to come off. Magnetize your T-10 torx screwdriver, and pull the screws after disconnecting the wire (which would be a pain with the assembly in or out of the vehicle).
Fuse 29 keep blowing on mine
Thank you so much you the best
Thanks for the video! I had to replace my entire turn signal assembly in my 2011 F150 which required the steering wheel to be taken off. I couldn’t find a video on how to replace the assembly, so I found this video and thought I could figure the rest out, which I did. I was able to complete my task in probably about 20 mins total if not less. I took the advice of one of your commenters and popped the bottom airbag release first and then the sides. I didn’t even have to pull. Just pushed in a 6 inch small torx tool and it popped out on its own and the sides did the same. Amazing how much of a man I feel like after fixing my own truck. TH-cam certification baby! 😂
Thanks so much for making this video. My guy.
Thos did not work on my 2012 Explorer. I left the both battery Terminals unplugged for 15 minutes
Sorry to hear that! Hope you're able to find a low cost fix
Did you find out after 7 years ?
It didn’t end up working for me
That's unfortunate. Perhaps try once more, leaving the negative cable off for a longer period of time. I hate to think what they'd charge for a new head unit.
Mine did the same thing and it said my gps isn’t working. I hope this works
It worked for me and I only had to do it once. Good luck!
im having a pretty similar problem as others might and my research shows i need my apim replaced or reprogrammed if this doesn't solve your problem along with the fuses before disconnecting your battery its probably your apim as well goodluck to all!
What is a "striker." You mention it at the beginning of the video, saying "it might have a bad striker."
The striker, also known as an ignitor, is responsible for starting the light with a high-voltage pulse.
So does that mean just the bulb is bad?
@@bryanhaese8912 I'm not an expert on them, so I'm not sure. My condition was sometimes the headlight would come on, sometimes not. Replacing the bulb did the trick for me. Sorry I can't be of more help to you.
It's a very big help so thank you for the info and video.
Big thank you sir
You're welcome!
Just did this steering wheel swap and THANKS TO THIS VIDEO me and my son got it done in about 10 minutes. As the vid states - disconnect your battery first!!! Couple of tips: Get yourself a T-Handle 6" long 4mm hex key to pop the clips in the three holes. Made it very easy. And - pop the bottom hole first! The top two will then release easily. We initially tried the top two holes first and the bottom wouldn't release. You'll also need a T50 Torx socket to remove the wheel. The rest of the install was super quick and simple.
Yikes! 😮 thanks for the warning.
Thank you, I was about to work all day without it
Great video. Thanks . Your a brave man. Easy to listen to and great picture of what I needed to see. Thanks
Happy to hear it helped you out!
Nice the ole turn it off and on again appreciate
If you undo the bottom retainer first it makes the top 2 are much easier.
@harold. I tried to share a quicker way how to replace these. But TH-cam doesn’t allow. You can take the rubber cap off from the headlight. I made a video where you can replace the HIDs under 5 mins. Search for it.
I appreciate the suggestion, but that method is if you have standard halogen headlights. HIDs use the exact same headlight lens, but they are mounted inside with two small screws. Then you have to unplug the HID right at the edge of the opening, which is deeper than rubber cap. I tried workarounds to keep from tearing the vehicle down, but that is the only way to do it.
I have a 2011 Limited with HIDs. I will make a comment here with the account where I uploaded the video. So you can see the video in that channel if searching isn’t giving the result. One thing that’s different from yours is I do not have the screws on the lamp mount but the same HID lamp. Wonder if you just open the rubber cap and use a magnetic screw driver to unscrew and twist the lamp in yours may be with pliers if you can’t reach. I was able to reach the lamp with my hand but couldn’t see.
Here. Check the uploaded video

This is ridiculous
You're not wrong, but it's necessary to get the job done.
@@haroldg556 my 2008 Explorer has three bolts to take out. Why did they make it so hard
Because they don't you to do it yourself and get some revenue on the back end, after the sale.
@@haroldg556 hahah yes they want u to go to the dealership
Thanks for the video my friend
You're welcome!
What tool do I need to buy to disconnect the battery?
Should be a 10mm. You can use a wrench or a socket.
Should be a 10mm. You can use a wrench or a socket.
@@haroldg556 thank you
Just got quoted for this at the tune of $420 labor and $200 for the HID.
That's a bit ridiculous!
I was stressed out with no radio in my 2013 ford escape but this video did it..
We were quoted $750
Pretty steep!
What is the cost for the head lamps.
I found them on Amazon. I paid around $50 for the pair.
Auto manufacturers may be the slimiest humans on earth at this time. And no one seems to care. They design all repairs to be more complicated and expensive than necessary.
Thx!! Just fixed my 2016 Ford explorer!! Only waited.10 mins.
Glad it worked for you!
@@haroldg556 thx for your help. Do you know why this happens? We just got the car...this is the first time, I'm worried I'll need to do this regularly.
@@akynaston1 Unfortunately, I don't know why it happens. It only happened once to our vehicle. Hope yours is a "one and done" as well!
You are a God my man. Thank you for this clear, concise and engaging video, it answered all of my questions and then some! I appreciate the time you put it into. Respect.
The flex of the steering shaft connected to the wheels is probably counteraction the impact forces and probably even adversely affecting the motors base torque as well since its reciprocally missing the tension.
I have to do this on my father in laws F150 this was super helpful, thanks.
what size is the bulb holding the hid?
I’m cussing ford right now. My wife will have to drive around with one headlight for a while.
It is frustrating and infuriating. I feel your pain. There are many manufacturers that have made headlights this difficult to get to.
Thank you and two thumbs up for the very helpful video.
Thank you!
Thanks mate. I am having the same issue and I couldn’t believe I had to remove the hole bumper to change the HID Light.
I couldn't believe it either. It's a bit ridiculous to change headlights.
Appreciate the video
Thank You! I was going to change my bulbs and realized they're HID 😢. Looks like hubby will be helping me 🤪
Good luck, take your time. I'm certain you both can accomplish the task!🙂
Ford replaced my first one only 5000miles look just like that one, now my second one looks like that one ( 165,000) just crappie material, but I think I will replace this one, oh awesome video!
What's it called..
Where can I buy the tool for the press vacuum line
Can u clean it with brakes cleaner
If you're referring to the wheel bearing, yes, you can clean it with brake clean. However, if the wheel bearing is bad, brake clean will leave you with a cleaner bad wheel bearing. The only correct fix is to replace it.
Does anyone know how to get to the dim led lights?
Not sure I fully understand your question, Ron. Are you looking for LED replacement bulbs?
@@haroldg556 I think I’ve learned a bit more. Apparently the led dim light is part of the housing, according to a Ford dealer in Tenn. I’m thinking of buying an entire aftermarket housing as mine has some glued damage anyway.
I waited 10 min it didnt work
You can try 30 minutes, but it's possible it may not fix your issue.
Thank you sir, this worked great for my 2013 F150
Happy to help!
