Amen brother

Ugh, yes I've had a recurrent sin that I haven't been able to get away from. It used to be porn and masturbation but I ended up completely losing all sexual desire at some point in the near past so that is not a problem for me anymore. But now I struggle with addiction to chewing tobacco and a recreational drug called Kratom. You get it in vape shops. It's a drug similar to opiates. And I CANNOT for the LIFE OF ME break free from it AT ALL. The withdrawal and cravings are so flipping intense that's it's unbearable to live without this stuff. I regret the day I ever got started on this junk but I'm hoping that God doesn't hold this against me and throws me in Hell after I die as a result of it.

In the years since I'd decided to commit to my turning my life over to Him, I've come to realize that living in the spirit isn't done at expense of the self, but to relieve the self, that we might better reorient it towards the needs of the spirit(both within and without) and the aims of God. It only feels empty because, well, it's uncharted territory. In reality however, it is full of life unlived. The world does not renew. It only reminds.

Very uplifting and comforting words. Moses came to mind when Moses said, "I can't, I can't, I can't" and God said, "I know, I know, I know, but I can I can I can!" I realize too that most people really don't care what you say, what you look like, etc. They are just busy getting on with their lives. Sometimes when I've done something that makes me self-conscious and I think "how stupid of me," the fact is no one noticed.

Well you know, God's been know to work in silence, if you really want to reach Him pray every single day, he may reach out right now, tomorrow, next week, next month or years ahead. He will test your patience, and your faith, so here's the advice: Never stop praying.

As another tip, when you have lustful thoughts, don’t try to get rid of them. Instead try to remember God’s word, promises, glory, and hate for sin; ask God to help you to be faithful to Him, instead of Him getting you rid of those thoughts.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I would say this is our egos being crucified, or in other words, dying to ourselves. Before you look to Christ for your fulfillment you construct something for yourself, so when you make the decision to allow Christ to take over, that construct, that ego, has to be put to death. After this, your identity turns into an avatar by which the will of God is lived out in a way unique to you, the way he designed you.

Idk so you put away your toys and are thinking about who you are and how you fit into the world. Ild say there are infinite mediums to do so, not just Christianity

A good practice I read about once is to memorize a scripture that pertains to your struggles. Then every time you struggle recite that scripture to yourself. This helps replace worldly thoughts and actions with godly ones.
