About me: I am a registered clinical epidemiologist and working as a fellow in medical oncology in the Netherlands. I have published over 50 manuscripts and have received several large research grants. I ...
Performing observational research in older adults
มุมมอง 3352 ปีที่แล้ว
Observational research is frequently underestimated. Clinical trial generally underrepresent older adults which can lead to poor external validity of these trials. Although observational data have its limitations such as confounding by indication, they have many advantages. In this video, I will discuss how we could improve the evidence base for older adults (in this example with cancer) by usi...
Immunotherapy in older patients with melanoma
มุมมอง 5822 ปีที่แล้ว
In this lecture, I will discuss the current evidence for treatment of older adults with advanced/metastasized melanoma with immunotherapy via checkpoint inhibition. We will discuss response rates, treatment toxicity and I will include a section on predictive biomarkers of outcome that are of specific interest for older patients (such as immunosenescence markers). About me: I am a registered cli...
Breast cancer in older patients - a short introduction
มุมมอง 3412 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video we will discuss breast cancer in older patients. These older patients have a high risk of breast cancer mortality even despite the fact that competing mortality also increases with age. Therefore, weighing benefits and risks of cancer treatment is especially important. In this video I will give a short introduction into the topic and give some background on treatment outcomes and ...
SPSS tutorials for beginners PART 6 - Logistic regression models
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this SPSS tutorial for beginners, you will learn all about performing a logistic regression analysis. I will show you for which type of data this model is useful, how to set up your analyses and how to adjust for confounders. About me: I am a registered clinical epidemiologist and working as a fellow in medical oncology in the Netherlands. I have published over 50 manuscripts and have receiv...
The PORTRET study - Predicting outcome of older adults with breast cancer
มุมมอง 1.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The PORTRET tool was developed to predict survival, breast cancer recurrence and other-cause mortality (or competing mortality) in older adults with breast cancer. In this video I will show you how the tool was developed, and I will present the validation data (including it's discrimination and calibration). The tool was recently published in Lancet Healthy Longevity and can be found here: www....

What is geriatric oncology? - a short introduction to research in older adults with cancer
มุมมอง 4102 ปีที่แล้ว
Did you know that for almost half of patients with cancer, there is no solid evidence base for their treatment? This concerns older adults with cancer, a strongly underrepresented group in clinical studies on which treatments in oncology are currently based. The field of Geriatric Oncology aims to improve these outcomes by performing new studies in older patients with cancer, thereby individual...
What is external validity? - mini epidemiology tutorial

COMPETING RISK EXPLAINED - Learn how to deal with competing events in studies
มุมมอง 13K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Competing risk made easy! It may sound difficult, but in this video I will show you the concept of competing risk using easy to understand examples and I will show you some real data in which this plays a major role. Nice video. Helped me alot
So what does the time diagnostic to death do? If we only use follow up time and event status at the end of follow up in both analyses?
This was A great video! Doing renal cancer research and my supervisour sughested IT, whilst the other was for KM. I was so confused about IT all
thankyou it helps me so much
How do you add a stamp on the document that tells that the document is reviewed?
Well explained! Thank you <3
Please explain how to insert specific comments on different word/ lines. When I try to do this, all comments show up in one box but I want them to be displaced next to the line/word where comment was inserted
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I don't know which one to choose as an indicator in Cox analysis. Moreover, in the calculation where there are 10 variables, the data changes with each iteration. P values are changing. How can I solve this?
Can bmi consider as state variables n waist circumference or bp or whr as test variables? N how to arrive bmi cut off
This really helped, thank you 💕
Spot on and explained easy. Pretty instructor
Nice video make more
How can I contact you I need help in identifying confounder in my research on epidemiology
0:42 very informative
Thank you
thank you, easy to follow tutorial.
Slay queen 🔥
Can you explain joining R program with spss
This is very helpful. I have a question: I want to make two logistics model one for female and one for male, but the only variable that I have is Gender ? How can I do that ?
Great Tutorial !
Your videos are must-haves for PhD students! Thank you so much! :)
can you show me how to put different graphs (incidence with out competing event and with competing event together ?
Very easy to follow and understand. Great video
Interesting!!
Thanks a lot for a fantastic and a very nice educational video. I have 137 patient spss file and many variables I jest wonder if you could help me to analyse PFS and OS. Thanks.
Wonderful explanation, can you share the data set used in the demonstration
Great explanation. Thank you!
It is very helpful. ❤ Thank you a lot!
Exactly the feature I was looking for. Appreciate it, amazing job <3.
How to caluculate area under curve? please help.
Very informative
hello why is a marker not meet the criteria if its related to cancer process and outcome like p16ink4a
How abouit area under the curve for line graphs?
Excellent explanation thanks
Thanks for the great videos! How did you do the calibration plot?
Hi Nienke, I actually can't figure out how to suggest changes in a text, especially how to strike out a word or sentences. I hope you can help me with that.
very easy to understand.
May all be blessings with you! This is awesome and the best presentation of SPSS. Thanks
Agreed
Amazing. Thank you Dr. Glas
Thank you for the excellent presentation, I have som questions thoug: I have performed AUS-curves for 2 prediction models and want to present them nicely with CIs and p-value in the graf, can you show how to incorporate that in the graf? Also for showing differences between the models how is that done? and what is the name of that test?
thank you, very helpful
Thank u so much!!! It is so clear :) Amazing
Thank you. Very clear and helpful. Especially about numbering the versions or using the date.
Hi, thank you so much for your explanations - they are very helpful! After conducting my analysis, I am wondering how to calculate the power of the log-rank test (and thus, the type II error), especially when comparing more than two groups. Do you know and could help us out? Best to you! Karla
how can I adjust non-categorical data before applying t test? for example I would like to, again with logistic regression?
Thank you so much for this video. Your directions are totally clear and helped me a lot! I did my thesis analysis based on your video.
fascinating
Could you please help me understand how to perform a ROC analyses in SPSS using age as the test and complications as the state, BUT adjusting for the cofounders (morbidity and polipharm)? Thanks
Hello my taecher .can you helpe me?
