LOL! £184 is normal price, I held out till it went to £136. It is more than I would like to pay but was cheaper than EasyJet and Ryan!

I am just putting an update together for this morning as I agree and was about to take it off the market when an offer came in. Honestly this selling a house is like a roller coaster. If this does not pan out I will be taking it off until til next year xx

Thank you and I welcome the conneny. My intention is not to spend the capital but to invest it and use the interest towards my travels (not all of it as need to keep it growing as well). As you rightly say, if I spent it all I would be in an almighty mess in the future when I may want to buy again or as my sons say, need to go in a home (yikes). I absolutely understand your point and have no intention of the capital being spent xx

@@RetireandTraveltheWorld You are very intelligent to recognise to not to spend an asset you built up. I would consider the affect of leaving large sum of money in bank deposit what would only work in a non-inflationary environment, if the inflation is higher than the growth of the asset than it "produces" an overall loss. You need to give a very serious consideration to when, how and for how much you wish to purchase another house to live in. I am not claiming that I am qualified to provide you with advice, I can only rely on my own life and experiences. I built my life and wealth while practicing the principals I learned from a very young age. I internalised the teaching of my Countess great ant and still today, I wear high quality, very clean shoes, perfectly ironed clothes, save/invest as much as possible and keep building wealth, while practicing gratitude and act of kindness daily, value and practice honesty, kindness, respect, consideration while being savvy and protect myself. I wish that you make the best possible decision for yourself. I wish you wealth, health and happiness.

Congratulations on the sale of your house and good luck with your move! Anyone who is coming direct to your doorstep at night behind the agents back cannot be good I don’t think. It is very unnerving indeed! Thank you for following my story, I am not enjoying living through this house selling saga myself but sometimes life just isn’t plain sailing and have to get in with it! @@RetireandTraveltheWorld.:) You have a positive attitude towards it all . When I have roadblocks to my plans I have this attitude that there is a reason for everything. We offered on a house and didn't get it because even though we offered more in total someone else offered cash and did no checks.The agent was dodgy also. Anyway turns out we have found something much much better...and done ethically by the agent. PS I like your positive idea on another post, I think, to just travel local for a while.

@@growingandlearning164 Thank you. I have learnt not to stress over things I cannot change any more and I am a strong believer that things happen for a reason. Plus if I did not laugh I would be crying all the time!!!! There are a lot of good things in life and I am blessed in so many ways, I always think it is best to hold on to that. I never take for granted the opportunities I have. Drives people mad when I see the best in everything, but then I watch them getting in a tizz and just smile! x

Hello and thank you. The money I make from my house is my retirement funds and I plan to use the interest to partly fund d my travels. Over time this amounts to a loss each year and was too much. I would rather wait and find a buyer willing to pay the fair price and know that it will fit better with my long term assumptions. It’s a good question and one I toyed with a lot but I just could not get the financials to work. Every penny counts when I’m talking about the rest of my life in retirement. Hope that makes sense. X

I think the other question you had was who would do this? Well, although sadly some utilise this method on the vulnerable, the people it could work for is the following: some properties are very unique and difficult to sell unless the market conditions are right. An example would be a property with severe structural issues or one that has had a former history eg murdered family. The market may not be suitable for renovations eg now (2024) when cost are high and therefore some people would enter this agreement with companies who may think the cycle may be better in a few years and the owner knows he will find it difficult to sell but still wants a better price than auction(as again the buyers in auction would be aware of renovation cost and typically would factor this in when bidding). Owners in these cases usually have big portfolios and don’t care holding on or don’t really rely on the properties for income materially. In many of the cases I’ve seen, the properties are really not of a good standard. Another is helping friends and family as way to save deposit. Eg I could move Portugal but enter into this agreement with my niece or nephew to help them use the money for a deposit.

Hello and you raise some good points here. I can see if say it was my son and I entering into this agreement, it could make a lot of sense to help him get going. I would help my children with something like this. However, I still would be cautious doing this with another company as there is no guarantee in the three years you would sel or that things would not be worse. If I went down the rental route, for me personally, I would use my own management agency. I have learnt so much about this scheme from the comments and so many differnet aspects to consider. Hi Claire this agent has had the property for 4 months they did find me. Buyer in the first month but they fell through. The agent before that was terrible so I had to swap! Selling houses is such a nightmare!

Thank you! I’m inclined to ignore them completely the whole episode has been very unnerving. It was the face they came to my home at night rather than through the agent that just makes it all seem so shifty. I honestly had never heard of this and it’s been a real eye opener reading the comments.

@@RetireandTraveltheWorld I think ignoring them is very wise. Also I can guarantee that the agent will have a clause in the contract about selling or renting to anyone they've introduced. I don't think you're local to me, otherwise I'd have been tempted to make you an offer. Good luck with the house and your travels :)

I have heard of people managing it but never with this option to buy later. It’s all so strange. I set up the alerts too after another viewer gave that advise earlier! I hope they just leave it now!
