Harbor Freight motorcycle jack, one of two videos
Impressive. I have owned a J&S Jack for many years. Bought used heavily discounted for a great price but no longer need a heavy jack that weighs 100 lbs. No question the J&S jack us ultra heavy duty, stable and impressive. I sold the last Harley two days ago and am down to two KTM's that are featherweights in comparison and dragging and storing the JS jack is cumbersome. Your stabilizer arms with this lighter HF alu jack could be in my future:)
Excelente muchas gracias saludos desde Costa Rica muy buena calidad de video y muy bien explicado.,...
What is that sticking out of the right side where the seal is. It looks like a tiny spacer. I don't have that on my bike. And that could be the problem of my will being too close to the right side and rubbing. I'm trying to find a blueprint or a video that's specifically shows every spacer and washer and seal and its place
wow you need a camara, 10 mins in the video and all i seen was the drain in the floor
@@JMS-q4f but did it help you to remove the rear tire.l am a mechanic not a video maker.
excellent video it helped me alot today
i also like to listen...i know im not good at comming up with my own good idea..so i listen and put together the best ideas.....LOL
@@EvendimataE If you like that video. Check out some of my others I can't
i was so amazed when a saw a bike in a salvage yard with that kind of alloy rims, i think they are super beautiful...but when i went around, it was a shaft drive...oh no.....it will not work with my chain driven bike :(
Thanks for the video

Where did you get the front rims?
Ebay.com. From the mid-eighties, 750/800. The bikes are all the same

@davidriegner2967 you are absolutely right and I stand here corrected and as the asshole. I’m working on that! Thanks for the video. In fact t I bought one of these today and it’s a great jack for the price indeed. It lifted and held my old Road King Classic (about 850 pounds I have a batwing fairing on mine) with ease. Mine even came with clasp down straps in the box which was a nice surprise. Keep the rubber on the road and your knees in the breeze sir. ✊🏻
Center of gravity is your engine and tranny dead lower middle of the bike (where it's sitting on the jack) the YT jack reviewers and comment posters who say "I'm worried about taking a tire off" simply don't understand basic gravitational forces. You can take a tire off on this or most any jack and the bike ain't going to seesaw folks! Common sense is no longer so common. Watching this video made me cringe my man what a pain in the ass with all those straps and back and forth. Set it lift it good to go. When you moved your bike and then caught one one of your straps and then knocked over your other things I though it was all going D O W N for a moment there ha ha!
I used the Harbor Freight pull to tighten straps so that I can move the bike easily while it's on the jack on my uneven garage floor. And you learn by making mistakes, no straps on the ground.
Do you have to drain the oil in the gear drive before removing the tire?
@@clintkanthe456 no
EXCELLENT VIDEO! So much useless junk out there on how to safely use these jacks. Thank you!
Exact video I was looking for as I’m getting ready to pull off my first direct drive wheel (been riding street bikes my whole life). So thank you. I would like to offer an alternative to punching out the axle though. Personally I’ve always used a long 3/8” or 1/2” drive extension (depending on axle size) to punch axles. They work great because the will catch the spacer and have almost a zero percent chance of screwing up threads after you remove the nut. I prefer the impact extensions and will use a rubber mallet with them. They also work great for reinstalling the axle and holding the spacer in place. $10 for a 4 pack. Harbor Freight. 7:28
Yes that is a better idea with the extension . And I have also learned from feedback that to remove the whee, l lower the bike down onto ground level take tension off the axle and then drive it out then raise the jack to remove the wheel
Thank you
Yes it's a pain in the ass. Make sure you grease the spines.
Shit. Line up the rear axle and the driveshaft to the u joint at the same time.
I have other videos on this jack on TH-cam also. I also now make and sell a stabilizer for the jack to make it more rigid.😂
Nice informative video showed me exactly what I needed to learn without without all the extra blah blah blah
Do you have stock pipes?
Hey Dave, love your workshop. It was great to meet you and Elma at Americaid in Lake George. Hope you got home ok, stay safe and again congratulations to Elma for her big win. Albert
Albert hope you had a safe ride home. Me and Alma had a very interesting ride home with flat tires and deer.
@@davidriegner2967 omg, flat and deer? Glad you made it home ok despite the ‘interruptions’. Be well and regards to Elma.

@@davidriegner2967 oops….
Enjoy the Triumph…
Does the rear tire have an inner tube?
No tube in cast wheels , spock wheels must have tube
do you need to put grease on the axle when you install it back?
Yes I always to put a light coating of grease on the axle so that it does not rust in place. It makes it a lot easier to remove when you're next to change tire
Where do you get your parts?
Jack is from Harbor freight, stabilizers I make myself and sell, but most of the parts and 1400 drive are from eBay
This video taught me how to take the rear wheel off. Awesome video
Very helpful... thanks
That wheel reinstall is enough to bring out the asthma in you. 😆 I appreciate your instruction. 👍
Not my best video. Now I lower the jack to get the wheel on so little easier. Thanks for the reply
That's bro.👍
is there a break in period or any procedure to bed the brakes? is it similar to a car where you have to change rotors when you do brakes as well?
Dude you just saved my ass man I sure appreciate you
Glad I could be of help I have other videos on TH-cam that may also help you. Especially the one on the Harbor freight jack.
Great vid.thanks👍👍👍
Glad you liked it ending could be improved but it shows I am real
All the videos of various jacks make the same comments about the bike being secure when they are rocking around.... all you gotta do is put something under one of the wheels and it'll be less able to rock !
Brilliant mods!
Check out some of my other videos on Suzuki 800 Intruders/S50 and Yamaha v S1100
I make those stabilizers in my basement and sell them for 60 bucks
I have the ratchet type Jack so this video did not help me at all

when you pull a caliper off ANY vehicle, if you are not replacing the pads gently wedge a piece of wood between the brake pads to keep them apart geeze!

Question about the jack placement. Did both pads hit the frame or is one of them hitting the bottom of the motor. My harbor freight jack doesnt seem wide enough to miss hitting the motor
Do you have the same jack?
I don't fully understand your question, but I believe it's about how the jack without the adapter goes under the bike, yes the jack will hit the motor. That is why I made the adapter along with the frames being different heights under the bike. Here's a video on the adapter but it is not my best video it was done as a request of someone else. th-cam.com/video/wzzsAYxIMQ8/w-d-xo.html
i check out these videos mainly to see what not to do, thanks for taking the time to make it.
So, for the rest of us, what did you see in that respect? Anything worth mentioning?
@@tm1783 never put axle grease on a motorcycle drive shaft (yamaha, honda, BMW) it will destroy them, it will cost you $500 to replace the shaft assembly AND the rear wheel hub and wheel you must use 60% moly paste
44,000 miles no problem
“Ahhh! Fucker!” Hahaha I understand the frustration though!
Next time I'm going to leave the wheel on the ground and raising lower the jack.
@@davidriegner2967 I have my bike on a jack right now and the tire is being mounted at the store. It’s the 4th time I’ve had to do this and I was hoping someone knew a magic trick for that damn caliper mount, it’s always such a pain!! Everything else is simple, but keeping that stupid thing from moving is a nightmare!
@@MotoVirtuo Set mount is a pain . Next time I plan lowering the bike jack and not use the tire jack .
@@davidriegner2967 I’ve sorta been doing it that way. I sit on the ground and put the tire in my lap then go at it. I use a bungee to try to hold that mount up but it’s still a pain in the ass lol
