Draai deze vaster en vaster en dan draai je automatisch de cup los. My brooks got me frustrated, it never broken in, I tried this way.. I dont even care if it shorten its life, it is better still than having unusable saddle. oh by the way... the saddle totally comfy now.

Water and oil will not only ruin the saddle in the long run but will void the manufacturers' warranty, and for good reason. When in doubt about how to break one in and after watching and reading thousands of misleading methods, follow Brooks instructions for breaking in their saddles, they've been making their saddles for a very long time and fully understand how to break them in, they are the true professionals at breaking in their saddles.

I’m new to this stuff. Will this calculation works for fat wheels too? I keep assuming that since fat rims spokes are farther apart, so there might be a different way to calculate the spoke size. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Bij mijn stadsfiets is de balhoofd behoorlijk vast geroest aan de koplamp houder. Morgen maar naar een fietsenmaker want dit gaat niet op een normale manier los.

This is the fast way. I did break a Champion Flyer in like that by accident once, it got thoroughly soaked riding in the rain and has been a very comfortable saddle though a bit stretched near it's limit. On my new saddle, if I can't get any relief soon, I'll probably go ahead and do the "dimple effect" on a new Imperial B17 and save weeks of time and my poor posterior.

This is a great way to break in a Brooks Saddle.....having not mu bike in many years, my Brooks Professional saddle had become stiff and was drying....it is a 1976 bike....wow after the water bath of 5 minutes, the leather was again softer and as I began to apply the Mink oil, the leather soaked it up and I used the heal of my palms to massage the sit bone area....within a ten minute time, the leather was in great like old broken in shape.....this worked work my old saddle....Thanks for sharing

Actually, I get a 40g or 25g can of Proofhide, rub it on thick on top and bottom, and then, put it on a cookie sheet with tin foil, and bake it at 150 F for 15-20 minutes or until the Proofhide soaks in. 150 F is not that much hotter than phoenix az in the summer, so it will not damage the leather, it just opens up the pores, and melts the proofhide, so the proofhide soaks right in,. I baked mine 3x over a period of a few days, as mentioned above, and soaked an entire 40g tin of Proofhide into it.... Let it cool overnight each time ... then, put it on a carpeted floor and step on it with one foot to stretch out the leather for 10 minutes at a time. I wore a tennis shoe and it left no marks. Just put your weight on it for a second at a time and move your foot around to stretch out the entire surface. I weigh 185. As you stretch it, think of how painful it would feel for your crotch to be stretching out those areas. Stretch it out good... Better to use your foot than your crotch to break it in. ;) Much less painful... 10 minutes of that is equivalent to riding 50 miles and suffering for hours in a hard seat. After a week or so of being stretched out once a night, it is soft and ready to put on your bike and ride. Use your own judgement... You will feel the difference each time. Happy Riding... I used this method, and my Brooks B17 was soft and comfortable from day 1. I love it.

wat bedoel je juist met de spacer inkorten? Ik wil dit graag gaan doen met mijn oude koersfiets, maar snap niet goed hoe je die spacer inkort of eventueel langer zou moeten maken. Kan je niet van die speciale lagers gebruiken?

Goede uitleg maar jammer is dat de kogelring of kogellager niet voldoende aan bod kwam. Ik zit nu the talmen over ... Hoe moet het nu: met de platte ring zijde of de volle kogel zijde op de vork schuiven. Op internet een Amerikaan beweerd, de ring zijde naar onder en zo op de buis op de vork glijden. De ring van de kogellagers zou dan onderaan zijn? Het is moeilijk om uit te leggen maar ook boven op het stuur. Ik bedoel, stuur is verwijderd, de moer is afgedraaid, dan ziet ment de lagers... Moet de platte ring bovenaan te zien zijn? Ik bedoel van boven af gezien... De lagers zijn met platte ring onder of anders dan, zichtbaar als je van bovenop kijkt.. De bolletjes zijn zichtbaar.
