“Glaze Test with Different Firing Temperatures”. Cone 4 to Cone 7 @ Alchemyceramic
I’m exploring the potential of my current glaze at different firing temperatures.
one glaze can produce a range of interesting results depending on the temperature, and I don’t even need to fire separately-understanding which areas of my kiln reach which temperatures allows me to achieve a variety of effects in a single firing.
My glaze materials are very common ones in UK.
You can get them very easily.

ONE PIECE “Non-Dripping Oil Dispenser” Throwing on the Potter’s Wheel
มุมมอง 12K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
@AlchemyCeramic This project is “to be continued…..”. I want to make a definite design which works for 100%. Today’s video shows the base of the idea for “Non-Dripping. It works most of the time but occasionally one of the pot doesn’t. I want to find out the reason then I can improve the mechanism of this dispenser design. #pottery #wheelthrowing #throwingpotteryonthewheel #potterywheelthrowing...
“Spiral Vase” Throwing on the Potter’s Wheel
มุมมอง 16K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today's project is a “Spiral Vase.” Creating this vase allows us to explore our own hidden abilities and senses. It's always fun to discover new styles. I've been using this spiral throwing method for some time now, and even small changes can make a big difference in the result. This is one of my favourite methods to make a vase. I use 1.2 kg of stoneware buff clay on a full-size throwing batt....
“ONE PIECE style Non-Dripping Sauce Pot” Throwing on Potter’s Wheel
มุมมอง 66K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
One of the challenges when I make pots for liquid is "dripping". I’ve tried various styles to achieve good results. So far all of them involve the spout. But this one is different. I use liquid surface tension to resolve the dripping issue. @AlchemyCeramic
“ONE PIECE Small Lid Jar” with “Snow on the Moon” Glaze Throwing on the Potter’s Wheel
มุมมอง 23K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today's project is a "ONE PIECE Small Lid Jar" with the "Snow on the Moon" glaze. The ONE PIECE series is one of my favorite techniques. It involves throwing a pot and then separating it into parts at the greenware stage. This jar has a small lid, which means I need to throw a narrower top and then close the pot. Compared to the flash lid jar, this style requires more practice. However, the ele...

Throwing “Spice Shaker “ - ONE PIECE Technique- on the Potters Wheel
มุมมอง 19K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today’s project is a “ Spice Shaker” ONE PIECE style. Japanese have many specific pots which have a dedicated purpose. That’s why the Japanese kitchen cupboard is full of tableware . This is one of them we use for “Seven Flavors Spice”. You can use it for Sea Salt or mixed herbs also. This will be a cute accent on the dining table. 300 g stoneware sanded buff clay. #pottery #wheelthrowing #thro...
Throwing “Ramen Bowl” with Spiral on the Potter’s Wheel @Alchemyceramic
มุมมอง 14K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today’s project is a Ramen Bowl with a spiral decoration. This is one of my routine line up. This spiral makes a good challenge for the potters as we have to throw very thinly. I can’t trim that part later so it has to be thin enough when I throw. Making cylinder then shaping to the bowl shape is an easy way. Finish size is 24 cm diameter. #pottery #wheelthrowing #throwingpotteryonthewheel #pot...
Throwing “Inverted Vase” Closed Form on the Potter’s Wheel @ Alchemyceramic
มุมมอง 14K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today’s project is a "Inverted Vase." I love experimenting with various vase shapes, and the idea for this one actually came about by accident. After I cut the top of the closed form pot I threw the cut piece to the reclaim clay bucket. This piece of clay landed on top of the failed open sugar pot which was also in the reclaim bucket. It was perfectly fitted but in reverse. The result was a com...
Throwing “Deformed Oil Bottle” on the Potter’s Wheel @alchemyceramic
มุมมอง 5K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today's project is a "Deformed Oil Bottle." Oil bottles are part of my regular lineup. The crucial factor for me is weight; I aim to make the bottle as lightweight as possible since it will later be filled with oil. Crafting a straight-shaped bottle is relatively straightforward, as I can trim it down to slim it. However, this bottle is deformed to create a shape that's easier to hold, so the m...
Throwing “ONE PIECE Flash Lid Jar” Version II / on the Potter’s Wheel @ Alchemyceramic
มุมมอง 30K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
For today's project, I'm revisiting the creation of the ONE PIECE Flash Lid, similar to a video I shared over a year ago. In the previous style, there was a gallery at the base pot to accommodate the lid. In today's approach, there's no gallery at the base pot. Although seemingly minor, as a maker, I need to make subtle adjustments in the process. Please try and let me know your thought. #onepi...
Throwing “Self - Watering Plant Pot” on the Potter’s Wheel. @alchemyceramic

Great experiment!👍 It’s fascinating to see how the glaze reacts at different firing temperatures-thanks for sharing these results!
Thank you for watching 😊The glaze is a difficult subject as the result will be completely different from kiln to kiln. I hope this video encourages people to make the glaze.
You are very talented, and you teach well. You speak very good English, thank you for sharing.
Thank you for your kind comment 😊
Excellent project and teacher
Thank you for your comment 😊

Beautiful pottery and excellent teaching. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching 😊
thank you so much for generously providing your glaze process of testing and even recipes!! this is so amazing to see the process of experimentation. it inspires me also
Thank you for your comment 😊. Glaze is one of the part I normally don’t include in my video as the result is very different by many factors. I have received many interests from the viewers about my glaze method, recipes and firing etc, so I made one video just about the glaze. I’m glad this inspired you🥰
Amazing - thank you so very much
Thank you for watching 😊
FANTASTIC video 😊🎉❤️💜❤️💜 ❤️! You have an easy to follow teaching method and your videos are calming. I'm so happy that I've just discovered you! Blessings!
Thank you for your kind comment 😊
lovely!!
Thank you 😊
These are adorable. I’m going to try making a larger one to water plants. Do you have a failsafe trick for preventing the spout from dribbling?
Thank you for watching 😊 I try to push down the spout’s end to make a subtle angle.
Thank you! Can’t wait to try
Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you for the wonderful and detailed demo! May I ask, what is the purpose of flipping the rim over (at 11:56)?
Thank you for your question 😊 The rim is the easiest part to chip. I want to make it strong but if I just made thick rim, it isn’t aesthetically appealing to me. This folding method is traditional style in Japan. The name is “Tamabuchi” (marble edge). This is very practical and also aesthetically satisfying for me. I hope you understand my concept 😅
@@AlchemyCeramic This is so interesting, thank you for your reply!!
Very creative, I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for your comment 😊
Love it!
Thank you 😊

love your work and technique...thank you and respect for sharing.
Thank you for watching 😊
Hi, when folding the top edge out, are you trapping some air there or not? Cannot guess by watching. Beautiful piece, cheers!
Thank you for your question 😊. No trapped air at this part. There is a full detail video in my channel. Please visit my channel when you have time.
I've never seen anything like this before... wow, this is so cool!!!
Thank you for watching 😊 When you use this you feel more cool!
I really appreciate this tutorial! Do you have a fail-safe method for ensuring the spout won’t drip?
Thank you for your question 😊 For this type of pot, the angle of the spout edge is useful point to consider.
That’s brilliant. I’m going to make this my next project.
Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you! This is very inspiring and helpful. I am sure it will take me a long time to successfully make something like this, but this video is very helpful for me as I learn. Your description is so clear and thorough!
Thank you for your comment 😊 I’m happy to hear my video is useful for you. Please try to make at least 5 same pot at once. You will feel better.
@ thank you for the advice!!!
Thank you for sharing your pottery expertise. Your videos are detailed and very enjoyable to watch. Have a great day!
Thank you for watching 😊. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed my video!
The one piece series is incredible!! I’ve been enjoying the new way of thinking about vessel structure :) your teaching is very clear and well thought out
Thank you for your comment 😊 ONE PIECE series are fun, aren’t they? There are so many possibilities waiting for us!
Thanks for your videos, I really enjoy them. How do you glaze the strainer holes so they do not close up with glaze? Do you wax the inner holes?
Thank you for your comment 😊 I glaze the holes also. The closed holes are opened by small screw drill bit. Those mugs are popular items for present.
@AlchemyCeramic Thanks for your response! Just to make sure I understand - you drill through the holes after glaze firing to re-open them?
Not after firing. When you glaze the bisque if the hole is closed I use screw or drill bit to poke the hole rather than a needle. The needle push the glaze and then the glaze comes off too much and leaves unglazed part. If I use very thin drill bit by hand to poke through the closed hole, I can scrape little glaze easily and the hole appears. After glaze firing , making the hole is too hard work. It will break the pot so please do it before firing. I hope my explanation is understandable 😅
@ Yes, that makes sense, I understand. Thank you so much!
Can't wait to try this. Thank you!
Thank you for your comment 😊 This pot is useful one. I hope you enjoy to make this.
Hello. Thank you for this video! Do you add an air vent hole to the outside wall after you glaze the cup and before the 2nd firing? Thank you 🙏
Thank you for watching 😊 The air vent hole is necessary only when the pot is in the drying process of greenware stage. Please dry the glaze completely then the air inside doesn’t cause the problem for the glaze firing. You don’t need an air vent for this firing.
You make beautiful ceramics. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching 😊
Love your vidéos!
Thank you for your comment 😊
I love Japanese stoneware! Do Japanese generally collect or use sets of stoneware all of the same style or do they mix and match?
Thank you for watching 😊 Generally speaking “mix and match”. Our dinner table is colorful.
When you are firing the stacking jars, do you fire with lid on or seperate?
Thank you for your question.😊 I fire the pot with lid on for most of my works.
These are fabulous. I love this technique and am excited to try it. Your explanation is very clear. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your comment 😊 This pot is very useful. I’m sure you will enjoy this project.
I have been having some success with this technique, but one problem I keep finding is that as it dries my lids start S cracking. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your question 😊 I assume the “S” crack occurs the closed point of the lid. If so, when you trim the inside of the lid please trim the joint part more and make this part thinner. This point tend to get thicker than rest, specifically if you made a knob. This uneven thickness causes an “S” crack. please try to trim more and compress with rib to make smooth finish. it will help to prevent an “S” crack.
Your lessons are very alluring so I can’t wait to try it out. Thank you so very much. I have learned a lot from your tutorials 🎀
Thank you for your comment 😊. This technique is very useful. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this.
This is a lovely pot, thanks for sharing 🩷🩷🩷🌷
Thank you for watching 🥰
Beautiful. Curious about when you trim bottom piece , does it cone apart easily once dried?
Thank you for watching 😊 Yes it does.
❤️❤️❤️
🥰
Thank you so much for the instructive video! Could you do some videos about glazing? For example, how do you get the beautiful green rim on the white-and-green bowl in this video? Its organic, slightly asymmetric look is very pleasing!
Thank you for your comment 😊. I will include the process of glazing next time.
Very interesting as always ! thank you.
Thank you for watching 😊

Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you 🙏 It is a lovely design 💝 I appreciate so many aspects of your design and process. The spout is great and I really liked your handle attached on the inside of the jug. A wonderful video. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for your comment 😊 This technique is very useful as just changing the cut line the result will be quite different.
I really love your videos. I try to watch a new one every day- then repeat them. I’ve thrown several of your pieces and absolutely love them! I’m so happy I found you. I feel I’m at a skill level and are really ready for all these. Thank you so much! What is your first name? 😊
Thank you for becoming the regular viewer 😊. I’m so glad you have tried many of my pieces! I hope I can post more interesting videos. My name is Akemi, it sounds similar to Alchemy❤️
Love ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️

I really love your design and idea for this jar and lid.❤️ I too also appreciate you sharing how you attach the pot to the wheel when trimming- I had never seen this technique. What a great tip about trimming circles on a wide bottom and then flat trimming - so very helpful. I am very excited to try this too. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for watching 😊. If my techniques are useful for other potters I’m so glad!.
Great video! I really liked the glazes you chose too. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you so much for this video - it was very informative! Can you tell me where you got your kiln shelf guards? I have looked, but can't seem to find any that look like what you use. Thank you 🙂
Thank you for your comment 😊. I make shelf guards from my reclaim clay. Make thin slab then cut in the size I want. Once it has been fired you can use many times.
