wow! love this! have recently started using ChatGPT for health coaching and been impressed. it has given me some helpful tips and knowledge. it also suggested to have a monthly discussion about my progress. i guess the biggest thing i have noticed is that it is quite passive/not very proactive. when talking about a current supplement regime that i have been using, it needed me to prompt it to suggest improvements. but i am a Day One user too with over 1.5m words in there. you have me tempted to try something similar to what you have done here. fascinating and subscribed. 😊

I think the TN system is best for those who switch notebook styles as their life switches modes. For instance, thanks to my job, I am on a definite academic calendar vibe. I don’t want work-type stuff in summer, so switching to Summer Vacation Mode is easy in a TN. Pull out the work inserts, put in the packing list one, the short-trip ones, the watercolor/sketch inserts if that’s your thing, and you’re good to go. This requires some work for proper archival when you go back to work mode, but it is super possible.

Tried it for like 2 weeks, bought a bullet jorunal and everything for it. Problem is it's too organized and seems to be made more for people doing business or trying to make a 'sketchbook' rather than a journal, or for mood trackers and habit trackers. I thought a journal was more of writing down your thoughts, your day, your experiences and feelings, now it's turned into some art canvas and for people to just be 'productive'. Plus the more I used it, I wanted to write down my thoughts or my day , I felt doing that would mess up the neat spread so I woudldn't write as much when I want to fill the page. Just gonna get a regular lined journal and write it that way. Even diaries are more better than this. Journaling is losing it's name.

If these had refills for the colors other than black, I’d definitely buy them.

Day One is not native for Windows machines. Would I need to use the web-based version? It would be kind of defeating if I journaled while on the road. I would need a program that will backup to the Internet whenever I get access to the Internet, so I am not held hostage by an Internet connection.

It analyzed you, and that analysis is given to predatory companies that are quasi government agencies. Is it wrong or right? Doesn't matter. Actually, if it's right, that's more terrifying. It will know how to manipulate you in unexpected ways. This LLM craze (not intelligence) is amazing. The rewards we receive are not balanced in favor of humanity broadly speaking. In it's current form, it will consolidate power. Consolidation of power is evil. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely". There is no utopia, but these technologies can provide the next greatest human advancement post proliferation of fair and free market ideals (less people in poverty than ever in history, but poverty is now increasing again..). It can't provide this to humanity with the current "ownership."

Self reflection has parallels with meditation. Yes, ML (ML is not AI, it is not intelligent) can help you with self reflection and journaling. I love(d) onenote, but it's from a company with no regards to privacy. Your inner thoughts are yours, using any of these tools creates a silencing effect in your own mind, and that's flawed. We have journals from historical figures that wouldn't exist if they were to use the tools that we have available today. internet darpa google twitter facebook cia nsa att verizon uniparty oligarchy... ... what do all of these have in common?

You were so brave to do this and then even share it with us! I don’t want AI to have that much access to information about me. The information you got out of the experiment was very interesting though. I think I would prefer a good therapist over a computer analyzing me. 💜

I feel like the app Rosebud is very close to what you are talking about and I sort of like it

I've been following you for a while and though I've enjoyed your previous content, I'm really excited to see what you do next. I started bullet journalling almost 3 years ago, but it only took 3 months of struggling with the artistic/creative side of it to realise that wasn't for me (even though I'm actually an artist as well - I just couldn't make something that was both artistic AND productive at the same time). So I went super-minimalist and back to the bare-bones Ryder Carroll method... until around August of this year when I realised that I was getting tired of the system itself. So now I'm even more bare-bones - just tracking tasks and habits in a passport-size TN and doing other forms of journalling in other notebooks. I'm a huge fan of the modularity and customisability of the TN system.

Thank you for being vulnerable and opening this conversation up. I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but I recognize that AI could be useful. That was interesting and also kind of creepy. Not for me - as you say the privacy concerns make me nervous. I'd hate for events in my life to end up in someone else's published AI-generated novel... (and for some reason I can't add emojis here, no idea why)
