I had another issue with the so called "new AI". It was applying a vertical relation on a line because, yes, it was vertical during editing the dimensions at some point. Very annoying. BUT. The AI is not "ON" when you're outside the sketch editor. I bet your offset in this example would work if you edit the p0 expression when outside the sketcher and from the expression toolbox. Thank you.

Could you please tell about class-A surface? From what I read, it's about smooth tangential transitions for consistent reflections. SOme say it's just tangential, but others it should be G2-G3. As I understand, G@-3 mazatter on long surfaces, where they have a more gradual transition, whereas on short distances G1 will suffice After I started paying attention, very few cars in real life match this criterion. Most have inconsistency, especially where doors meet the body. I think Bentley will have it, but neither Mercedes nor BMW do

Very nice feature clarification. Do you have some solution for a similar problem. After importing a dxf all curves are imported to "non time stamped geometry" and can not be picked or selected for measure distances e.g.. Would be nice to get some comment.

Hi Simon, I'm not sure this works anymore on later versions of NX. I'm working with version 2206 and I when I open the dialogue box for create sketch, there isn't a 'specify CSYS' option like in your video at 1:52

Hi Simon, dankeschön/thanks allot for your work. At Min 07:57 you've defined the Extrude (8) as Child of the Composite Curve (3), it makes sense and I understand also why. Perfect! Wunderbar! Later on, by Min 12:42, in order to create the Boss Feature groupe, you've copied the entire content of the Frame Feature groupe and the Sketch_000, (why?), Mother of Composite Curve (3), without copying it, ( the composite.curve, again why? ) Althrough copyed without it's corect reference, but the wrong one, NX didn't gave no information or warning, how come? After pasting, you've obtained among the others, the Extrude (13), Child of Sketch_000, HÄÄ?? Now I don't follow anymore.. Questions: 1- Why didn't the Extrude (13), screamed for it's righteous Mother, the Composite Curve (3)? Why NX allowed, through Copy/Paste operation, to "change" in the the pasted Extrude 13 to have another Mother, like it's GrandMother, I.e. the Sketch_000, how come? If this Behavior is standard by NX, than how can I trust it to copy/paste identically? It's not the first time when NX, replaces by it's own will references, as it pleases. Can you please explain, how is this even possible? Besten Gruß,

Great video Simon! One thing I'd also like to point out is in NX datum coordinate systems are much more fluid than in other CAD softwares. Sometimes the ACS isn't visible or deleted from the feature tree for some reason. It may be worth showing in another video (unless you already have!) how to create a new datum coordinate system based off the absolute coordinate system - or to create a new one related to a specific feature.

I find putting sketches on planes are much more stable, using solids can be flakey, delete or change a solid and you could end up with a feature tree of pain

Hi Simon Thank you for your posting, learned a lot from your videos. To your exercise, all went well until I tried to replace either the Spline or the Composite curve with a Helix. The starting Datum trim plane seems cut and remove through the tubing as shown in this link. Tried to replace the said datum plane with a surface made in that plane and that didn't work. I've seen theses tubes in the many plants I worked and they all coil like that (helical shape). Do you have fix for it? Wouldn't it be just as easy, and ultimately more useful, to create an Offset CSYS? In the Offset CSYS dialog, click the "rotate first, then translate" option, rotate it about the two axes to get the desired 45° angle, then translate it the desired distance along the desired axis. When you're done, you then have 7 geometric elements at that point instead of just three (i.e. origin point, three planes, three axes), and it's easy to edit the angular orientation and offset distance via the Offset CSYS dialog box. You can also edit the appearance of the Offset CSYS to make it smaller or larger, change line type and color. I value you teaching us another way to use Point Set command, and I apologize if I'm missing something here, but after watching I was left scratching my head as to why you didn't use the Offset CSYS, "rotate-then-translate" method.

now they call "early access features" instead of "feature toggles". Do they do it on purpose to make it harder after you update software??

I banged my head against the wall for a while last year trying to figure out how to do this. It is not intuitive at all that Point would not have this capability while Point Set would. Why not just add Axis to the valid vectors for Point?

I am quite sure that CREO cant do it and I doubt that CATIA does. It is what I call parametric.

I used reattach for a long time. I hate windons views since it changed to ribbon. We need to jump to specific places to find the function or dig into drop downs. Now I use a bigger monitor just one ribbon all functions are there without drop downs and so on everything personalized in my Role.

When we make a feature and give a color, ofter that when a hole is made on this feature, hole wall faces are still in Grey color. Is it possible for holes to inherit color or parent.
