21:19 I have thought about this, we may not have our kids education fees, but surely we will have hospital (medicine) expenses for us (couple) .. Traditional basic needs:- 1. Food, 2. Shelter, 3. Cloths New basic needs:- In addition to the above 3, 4th one is Education, 5th is Healthcare (one guy who is earning should always spent for either of these 2 or both at any point of his life, 25-30 age - need to spend for his parents medicine, 30-39 yrs need to spend healthcare for his parents , kids education as well, 40-49 may be he needs to pay for his medicine, kids education, may be his parents medicine as well, 50-59 - couple healthcare cost (may not needed if they're healthy)..
9:45 I will try to simplify it even more. Banks used to give 6% returns per annum, will take 12 yrs to double, real estate used to give 10-12% returns on an avg, would take 6-7 yrs to double. So, if it's possible for you to live and continue with a lifestyle in which you don't need to double your cost for 12 yrs, then you can go for bank FDs. But, I want to live comfortably, want to upgrade new lifestyle, then you've to choose risky assets like RE, Gold, Stocks. However, minimal inflation would be there . In my case, I paid 7,500 rs rent in Chennai Selaiyur for 2 BHK, now in Coimbatore (the current situation of CBE is almost equivalent to Chennai) paying 8500 only for 2 BHK , so I managed to my cost of rent within the basic inflation, even with bank FDs I could've achieved it easily . But, with respect to groceries, meats, it's impossible for me too.. 😊😊
Excellent podcast ❤
Great speech/eye opener by Pattu sir.. Also the interviewer allowing pattu sir to complete his information. P.S. - Calling his name as”pattu” may be western/corporate style, but we are Indians basically. You can call him ‘Pattu sir’

பட்டு sir இந்த வீடியோ பார்த்து பயமா இருக்கு. Euope இருக்கேன் எனக்கே தலை சுத்துது 😢😢😢 உண்மையில் mindfulness வீடியோ.
Pattu sir realityyai puttu puttu vaikirar😊
Arguably the most depressing episode -- as much as, if not more than, the ones on health insurance. Pattu sir needs to bring down morbid references. To compensate, in the next episode, please recommend infra and defence MF that will give us 30% returns. 😭🙏 -- A long-time follower
Incase, if there is a situation to be dependent on children (if it is possible) due to delay in retirement planning. In that case how much we can max be dependent on our children (like stay, food, electricity bill) and how much we need to have for our personal expenses (like medicines, recharge, etc). Is there a kind of blend approach if we start late?? Also is it a practical (& possible) approach to look for a low paying job/gig after 55 to ensure we don't withdraw (also won't be able to invest) from our retirement corpus like till the age 65 to ensure our corpus (not large enough) lasts till 85 or so. Your thoughts on this kind of approach??
26:50 good joke
Hi. Excellent podcast!! I have an unresolved question for a long time. My retirement fund time horizon will be around 30 years. Can I include gold etf as a part of the instruments for this goal? If yes, can gold be considered as a debt instrument or not? Also, if yes, how much % can be in gold, fixed income and equity?
Which is best insurance government or private 🤔
Kindly explain the calculation made to arrive at 7.6 cr required as corpus in this example Sir. Thank you in advance
Let us get touch with pattu
Super sir.. Arrange a long duration q&a session.. It helps more.. If get in touch with pattu .. then only we get rich
Whatever told in this episode is 100% correct. Good & keep it up.Today, If we save for future retirement life, our retirement life will be happy & peaceful otherwise we will have to struggle & depend on our children or somebody. Today we are living in a different world not like olden days. Financial independence is must for everyone
From my calculation I think today for 31 year old , 3 crore is enough to retire considering 10% CAGR with 6to 7% inflation you can easily widraw 4 % of ur corpus till life
3cr today or at their retirement time??
3cr today

Great episode. As expected scary.
Pattu sir, great man,his heart knowledge is so far sighted. He is putting all his experience in this show.Madam plz add sir when you ask questions.humble request.
Agreed with Sir observation
Plots bought, or houses plots that will be inherited in the future from parents can be included on this? Pattu sir please answer this on the next podcast.
It's good if there's a good cash flow
Pattu Sir, just a different perspective. Correct me if I am wrong. When planning for retirement, don't you think that we have to plan only for 2 people, husband and wife. So, that being the scenario, if one's expenses today is 60000 per month, for four people , can't we take 60 or 75 percent to calculate retirement corpus.
It is not just 1 person's expense we are taking, it is the expense of the whole family, in that we should not include school fee or college fee, only include the basic expenses needed for 2 people.
If we can’t even expect 15% in equity then no need for investment planning. Just keep working for income and set up different passive income streams. Just put all money in safe debt instruments or FDs.
When is the next episode?
She also provides valuable information with her own experience and relating pattu sir's opinion, especially she talks about people use the yearend bonus for children education, i am also the one who does that, its infomative to make FD monthly from her experience..
Glad you found it useful 🙂
😊
Would strongly suggest Shubham to read the book 'Die with zero' by Bill Perkins
please allow the interviewee to speak, in this interviewer spoke more than the expert.

Regarding the home loan. It depends on the need because if you invest and try to buy a home or plot, you won't get the plot or home which you like in the future as the land is less in quantity.😅
