    This wasn't the knife he found for $3, that one was a bull nosed butcher knife and was unique; However, he made copies of that that were available in the Pathfinder Knife Shop. All that being said, he sells the 7" OKC knife and has done videos on them and does say you can get a great knife with the OKC stuff. I have one of the PKS butcher knives and one of the 7" OKC knives, and they're both incredible. I also have a 5.5" OKC butcher knife, it costs $30 but it comes with a very nice sheath. I'd recommend any of the OKC items.

      Are you talking about my video? If you are....look at the date! That was close 4 to 5 years ago! If you ask anyone that buys knife. 4 to 5 years ago was a totally different time to buy knives as far as price. Just saying. Just like gas, chicken, cell phones, milk, coke.... all alot cheaper in the past right? Just saying brother. Maybe take into context the era when video or anything was made? You wouldn't comment on a commercial for the 1970s Doge Dart comparing the prices to today's right? 🤔

      Oh and Shards... those knives I bought didn't come with a sheath. If youd like I can share of a picture of them in the plastic molded, cardboard backed package that they were bought in! I still have about five of them tucked in containers straight from Amazon where I bought them minus those expensive leather sheaths! I also still have their receipts! Should I share those?

    I have 2 original Ka Bar Olean NY. Warthogs. Much lighter, with the hand guards. They are cool looking for collection purposes only. I am considering getting a Taiwan Warthog, heavier and cheaper for actual outdoor use, camping, skinning etc. The matte black blade coating is to prevent rust. I would run away from a confrontation, utilizing my Warthog and Smith & Wesson.

    This knife reminds me of the MSK1 Survival knife only $400 cheaper. The knife is no joke, it’s a serious chopper and will without a doubt do what you want it too. A Beast !!! At a reasonable price that I can afford, thank you Ka-Bar always thinking about the rest of us not earning millions of dollars. Love it. Yes when I got mine, I was one happy camper and still like that today. Great video and thanks for sharing. 👊💯🔥

    Taiwan? I was going to get this knife if it was from Olean, NY., but then I saw the Taiwan marker. So much for American made. I’ll stick with my traditional Ka-Bar that was made here.

      Taiwan is the new Japan when it comes to knives. They make probably much better knives then the US do. Which is not known to make very good knives anymoore, US made is not was it used to be.

      @bodazaphfa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bushcraft_in_the_north thanks for the reply. After my comment, I did more research and found the same results as you stated and I ordered one. This knife can take a beating and the quality it second to none. As you stated, unfortunately, US made is not what it used to be. I put my foot in my mouth on this comment. I keep this knife in my daily bag and it goes everywhere with me.

    Just got this blade! Man I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had this blade in my cart on Amazon, then I second-guessed it, and then added it back in, then second-guessed it… I finally pulled the trigger and my God am I glad I did! It is a phenomenal knife, it fits perfectly in my hand and although it looks big and chunky on wide angle camera lenses from these table top down videos… I can tell you it’s the perfect size for Bushcrafting! I’ll use my tops brothers of bush craft BOB knife for Batoning , but for whittling and more precise bushcraft/feather sticking… this knife ROCKS!

    This has about as much length as an esse 6 and people don't say that's not a survival knife!!! It'll absolutely work for a survival knife and the 1085 holds a decent edge and you can literally sharpen it on a rock!!! Field maintenance is super easy, and it's tough as shit!!! You ain't gonna break it battonning, and it's more refined than the bk2, also if you need to dig in an emergency this wide blade will dig like crazy and be easy to bring the edge back

  • @Wildwestwrangler
    @Wildwestwrangler 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The grip on this is amazing!!! Especially for a factory handle!!!

  • @Wildwestwrangler
    @Wildwestwrangler 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's 1085 steel made in Taiwan. Not sk5, but it surely is a beast of a blade. I like it for a compact powerhouse of a wood processor. Mine has a Saber grind though.

    • @redline8314
      @redline8314 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      "The Kabar Heavy Duty Warthog is one beefy chopper. The monster blade consists of high carbon SK5 carbon tool steel that has a non-reflective, black traction coating for enhanced corrosion resistance and high traction, shock absorbing Thermoplastic Rubber handles for comfort and security." Thats from Kabar themselves. They actually used both steels for some of their knives. Just google "Kabar Warthog SK5" and youll see there selling them at Smokey Mountain Knife Works. Some would even say that 1085 is SK5 or its equivalent. Thats probably why Kabar uses it like that.

  • @mancooutwest44
    @mancooutwest44 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can’t believe there aren’t more views on this video. I have an esee-4, tops brakimo, and kabar turok, along with many others trying to find the perfect knife for when you can only take one. Don’t get me wrong the ones I mentioned are all great knives. But if you want to save time and money just buy this one. It’s better than all of those knives. Just those few knives I bought in search for the perfect all around outdoors knife for bushcraft, survival and hunting add up to over $420 then add this to the mix and I’ve spent about $700. Whereas if I had known about this knife I would have never bought those other three, just made this one purchase, and saved some serious cash. It is absolutely perfect in weight, blade length, handle shape/size, blade thickness. has the finger choil for the close detailed work. Perfect blade geometry for a do it all and never fail knife without sacrificing slicing and cutting ability. I have talked with Jeff and know how the heat treat was done to know it was done properly for this metal which is critical. He also stands behind his knives as well as esee or topps. (two companies I love) And because it’s CPM-3V it is leaps and bounds better than 1095. If your even thinking about debating purchasing this knife over a 1095 knife, and are debating about upgrading to a super steel sooner or later; then am glad you read this to save you time and money. Just buy it, and you will have no regrets.

    Dude I bought a Brakimo 10 months ago and LOVE it. I was worried about the handle cause it is thin but it grew on me . I use my knives everyday, I carve and whittle as a hobby about an hour a day. The Brakimo is the best survival bushcraft knife I've ever owned. Like you I highly recommend the Brakimo. The edge is wicked , it carves better than any knife in that class. The Puukko is now on my list I totally understand your passion. High scandiVex blades are wicked tools.
