    This video was posted 10 days ago, but staples in Westwood has been closed down for a long while now. Never thought I’d see someone talk about west Seattle as if they lived there, but not know about west Seattle. Bakery nouveau? That bakery was popular 10-15 years ago, but it’s a background shop now. People know it’s there, but it’s not popular. Next I thought you were going to talk about Godfather’s pizza and skippers as good family restaurants in west Seattle. This guy is out of touch on what people do here.

    I totally forgot to mention Arbor Heights neighborhood in West Seattle in my video. It's such a great little sleepy neighborhood on the South end of WS, starting just South of the Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal, where End O' Lyne Joes (one of the best brunches in WS IMO) and Wildwood Market are tucked between the Puget Sound and White Center. Quiet neighborhood with some really nice houses along the water and much more affordable homes inland. Arbor Heights Pool is a hidden gem in this neighborhood as well. Better sign up on their waiting list years ahead of time... or make friends with a member and go as their guest!

      It is certainly is an expensive city to live in and while Seattle has its issues, there are many reasons that everything is so expensive here... one of the big reason is the high demand. People want to live here because of the beauty, lifestyle, recreation, strong job economy, quality of living, etc.

    It's not the amount of rainfall so much as the gloomy overcast days -- 250 a year. The LA summer heat is not oppressive, especially near the beach, but even inland it's low humidity. Meanwhile, the SoCal winters are beautiful. The question for the Pacific Northwest is, can you handle so many days without sun without becoming depressed? Beyond that, both cities suffer from the same awful government, condoning rampant drugs, crime, street dwellers, squatters, etc.

    • @Livinginseattle1
      @Livinginseattle1 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are not wrong! "Seasonal Depression" is a real thing up here in Seattle. Some people even have UV lights to help them get some extra Vitamin D to help with their mode during the long winters... but even with the rain, it is still a very beautiful place, close to so much green and nature.

    Is it yummy? What does it taste like?

      Kind of tastes like an espresso shot. What I like about it is that it fully resolves, unlike some of the other "mushroom coffees" that leave a sludge or grit at the bottom of the cup. It's also more condensed (only 4 oz of hot water added, instead of 8-10oz).

    To clarify, the "Seattle City tax" I'm referring to in this video is the sales tax rate you pay when buying goods in the city of Seattle, which breaks down into the WA State sales tax of 6.5% + Seattle's sales tax rate of 3.75%, for a total Seattle Sales tax rate of 10.25%.

    Good overall description of the Seattle area, but I think you got it wrong on the Seattle freeze. People in Seattle are definitely harder to get to know and friendships are much harder to establish than in other locations. I'm a NW native (East of the Cascades) and lived in Seattle and its burbs for 25 years. I made less friends in those 25 years than I did in the first year I lived in San Francisco. I travelled quite a bit early in my career and always made more friends while I was on the road than when I was home. I put it down to the Scandanavian roots of many Seattle natives, Scandanavians are fairly reserved and I just think that has trickled into the overall culture in Seattle. Just my opinion...

      I appreciate your comment and perspective. I can certainly see how the reserved Scandinavian roots could bleed over to contributing to the "Seattle Freeze.
