Tilt Train Crossing with a Freight Train
มุมมอง 1.5K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
After being held in Mackay for twelve hours so track inspections could be carried out in daylight due to heavy rain and flooding to the south. The Spirit of Queensland tilt train crossed with a northbound Aurizon freight train at Glen Geddes. I also managed to beat it to Rockhampton to get it running down the street thanks to some slow track orders near The Caves.

We Travel to Longreach to ride the new Railmotor.
Did the first one made it?
Yes, slow and steady.
But enjoyed the video ok❤😊
Sorry but the horn sound seems horrible 😮😢
I like the drone footage as well thanks for sharing ok 😊
That is easily the strongest consist of the Inlander I've seen in years (maybe decades). It usually runs max 4 car sets, so that had 2 extra cars. Mind you, if QR have improved the service and not promoted it, I won't be surprised. Love the drone range you're getting!
Thanks for the comment, the reason for the extra coaches was due to kids from the Isa going to a school camp on the coast. The drone range is good but the vision is a bit deceptive because of the curves on the decent of the range. Thanks to google maps I pulled up at the closest point the road gets to the line on the way down the hill and launched it there.
Terrific video, traveled on that line quite a few times in the 50s and 60s.
Excellent video. Nice haul by the single powered loco. Did that way a couple years ago. Sad to see how Hugheden has lost some of its importance (the loco shed closed). But impressive tonnages being hauled for a non-coal line.
Love that overhead of the road train! Torrens Creek is one of those places I know there's an amazing shot to be had down by the creek, but I'm yet to nail it.
Nice work mate!
It's rather ironic that all that "green" electrical infrastructure on the lines is at risk from the Greens, as they ignore the important aspect of coking coal to produce steel.
You've really nailed the sweeping tracking of trains with the drone. In addition, the combination of stills, on-ground footage, and informational captioning really cement the story of the journey.
Thanks
Great vid dude. Thanks for letting us know the codes and the meaning. Your drone is a beast man. Awesome work.
Nice vid dude. Pretty good drone you are using. Thanks for sharing.
Good to see the cattle train going back out to Lakes creek. Takes a few trucks off the road.
Fantastic!
What’s strategic airlines is that before Jetstar
@@Duskyplayinghisflute253 They were a small start up in Queensland but got into difficalty berfore regular service.
Very enjoyable watching. Thank you, Nev
Look at the wide open spaces we have here in Queensland Australia 😮😊
I forgot the run number changes from YC77 to 8C77 after a certain point, guess they just don’t recognise 2800’s I need to go north for these tho lol
Will passenger trains ever come back to winton?????
This video makes me want to go to mount Larcom all the way from Brisbane
Great video!
Fuel prices around $2-00 to $2-15 a litre in past year so not cheap in western NSW. Bowen Rail is a nice sight, don't see that company in western NSW. Cracking scenery, lovely countryside. The Pit Pony statue at Collinsville is a cracker. You done a great video and nice aspect into coal ops in QLD on narrow gauge, well done.
When I used to Drive a Tickles Van I sused to call in Mt. Morgan. A very beautiful place, really
Nice. BRC has only been running 84 wagons of late. Also, the train of PN locos and wagons with all 3 locos up front would be the consist that BRC has leased from PN.
Thanks for the update, I was wondering why it had three locos on the front and the other P.N trains had two on the front and one on the rear.
What are those stupid horns on the Bowen locos? Sounds like a bloody goose getting strangled
@@jimmyg5408 Gets your attention but
I know all about the last trains that went on this line 2002 a steam or freight ran between mungar junction to monto that was the original last service, but in 2005 a steam ran a special between monto to Maryborough it must of came from the Gladstone junction. And more last train, in 2008 a steam ran a tour to monto from Gladstone junction and more steam from the Gladstone junction. But this last train was steam that ran between mungar junction and monto it appears that it was doing the monto loop line, and the last railmotor i think it was last railmotor that ran in 2009 and the other last train this was the real last train a steam or freight that ran between mungar junction to monto in 2012 and then the line was closed😢. So what do you think about my story of the last trains let me know what you think.
I'm planning to get a train vid on hooke road level crossing too
wish they still allowed coal to do their duties in this station unfortunately most of it was shutdown and now only used for passenger and containerized freight services. doesnt look that well trimmed no more.
Love the ending here! I still can't used to seeing trains in the street as opposed to trams! Being a (currently) Victorian based gunzel, I make occasional trips to Melbourne and so I am used to seeing trams everywhere, but seeing *_trains_* in the street is something else again!!! Roll on next month and my chance to see this for myself!!! 😍😍
Nice, hope you have a great trip.
I'm curious as to how well you know the coalfields railways? I remember seeing in a video or some photos _somewhere_ in the central Queensland coalfields, possibly the Blackwater system, a place where there is a gap of several metres in the overhead on the mainline to allow mine vehicles across the railway. I'm looking for this as I plan to be out there, based on Rockhampton, for a few days later next month.
The place you are thinking of is on the Goonyella System just east of Coppabella township. It is quite a distance from Rocky, there are no gaps like that on the Blackwater system.
@@QueenslandTrainVideos Thanks for your reply. I found the location, and have now saved it by its coordinates: 21°52'17.2"S 148°27'16.3"E. This being around 130 kms from Mackay makes it a realistic place to go when I'm in that area.
@@tobys_transport_videos The most direct way to get there from rocky is via the Marlborough to Sarina road as google maps may show but be careful in the morning or evening as it is unfenced and has plenty of roos and cattle.
@@QueenslandTrainVideos Thanks for the heads up! I'm going onto Sarina after my few days in Rocky, hence why the Goonyella system as far as Coppabella is realistic. I plan to focus my Rocky efforts on not only anything in Denison St, but parts of the Blackwater system, and the North Coast line down to about Gladstone and to around 200 kms north of Rockhampton.
Thanks, I enjoyed this immensely. Just one criticism: You could leave your captions up a it longer. I am not a slow reader and had difficulty reading them completely. captio
Was this the last freight train or no?
When was the last train that went on this line
I think the steam train run by heritage was the last on about 17 years ago.
Oh yeah I think I know wich steam you talking about and I heard this on Google like the last steam train the travel between monto and Maryborough was the last steam in 2005 the regular last steam I think it was that travel between mungar junction and monto was in 2002 and a steam to monto ran in 2008 from the Gladstone junction and 2009 with the rail motor call 1901 that travel between mungar junction near Maryborough and monto and return between monto and Maryborough and the other last trains that I think travel between mungar junction and monto was in 2008 and 2012. So that all I now about the last trains what do you think about the story was it good or what? tell what U think about it please.
First coal 97 cars, next will be an edit
Nice video where this test train came from because there is two junction to get to monto from Gladstone or mungar near Maryborough so did it come from Gladstone or mungar junction?
Gladstone
Oh yeah nice when was the last freight train that went to monto?
Good video sir 😍😍😍😍❤❤
A lesson in all of it for me! Yank-city here lol🇺🇸( and a rare showing of distributed power!👍🏻🚂)
PS, I apologise there's a magnificent passenger train. 😮😮❤.
Great video mate, interesting to know how fast these trains travel at, obviously no passenger traffic at this station anymore, always interested to see all the stations well maintained, very impressed. I am finding how good the trains are in AUSSIE, I normally watch American and my home railways, but then again AUSSIE AUSSIE OU OU is being better. 😊.
Coal or mineral trains 80km or 50mph Freight trains depending on wagon rating max 100km or 60 mph Passenger max was 160km or 100mph
Hey Guys, like I said I booked into a pub late one night not far from the local train station at Rockhampton and in the middle of the night I was awoken by a of all things a Train in one of the Main Streets, Thought I must have been off my Rocker in Rockhampton. Next morning at Breakfast sitting in the balcony thier went another. I said to the publican you bludger their is a main line down the street. At Lunchtime one came to a stop like I mentioned in my prior email right outside the pub due to a point failure, about 10 mins latter I walked out and gave the crew 4 Big Steak Burgers and Two six packs of soft drink, Walking away I just said great work guys you deserve every pat on the back you get.
Hi from UK. I am intrigued by the number of 20ft containers, and I guess, domestic too. None of the 40ft+ deep sea containers seen on US stack trains and in Europe. Thanks for a now rare glimpse of pioneer days street running. 👍
Thanks for the comment you are right about the smaller containers being domestic on the coastal services but there are services that carry export containers of 40Ft. These are mostly refrigerated meat bound for the U.S also 20ft containers are loaded with export grain and are the perfect size for weight and convenience. If you are intrested check out the facebook group Queensland Mainline Trains it has members all over the state and not much moves without it being covered. John
It was interesting to see that the train went onto the turning triangle not just the loco, I saw on google maps the triangle splits up again into 2 tracks making about 500m of track between them. A turning triangle here in NZ would only have room for a loco past the points, not that many would be in use these days with trains using pairs of locos facing in either direction. The train to Winton wouldn't been positive for the balance sheet. Hi from NZ, Anthony
Thanks for the comment mate that angle is long so whole passenger trains could be turned, others like the one to the east at Barcaldine were long to serve cattle loading yards. Search "Spirit of The Outback turning at Longreach" and it will spit out a few results. The service to Winton from Rockhampton is subsidized by the state government as are the livestock services.
Whycheproof in Victoria runs in the middle of the street but on a median strip. The line to Port Pirie in SA used to run through Ellen St (spelling?). The old station building is still there, it just looked like the other buildings in the street. The City of Rocky would love to have the railway line bypass the city but the big bridge at the end of the video is the main reason, the river is huge and they’d have to build a new bridge. If in Rocky have a look at Archer Park Station in Denison St, a grand old station, now a museum, it was used when the railway to the west was built before the line from Brisbane, the increase in traffic made it necessary to build a new station with a bigger yard.
the train staff used to have a bell on the end which the driver would ring out the window.
The railmotor is this a tourist attraction for the area or a regular Queensland rail service
It is run by a local tourist company
Good video P N are the best ❤❤
Wow, those coal trains seem to go on forever. Nothing like that in the UK.
On the Blackwater system they tend to be about 100 to 104 wagons further north on the Gooyella System they have about 20 more.
@@QueenslandTrainVideos Yeah, not bad for a Narrow Gauge network.
