Great little update Mark, i agree with Rob though, those supports do look quite messy to work with. Hope you have a fantastic day today, all the very best 👍
Day has been good. Just had dinner, so nap time now lol yes I wouldn’t recommend the supports. They’ll do, but wouldn’t get again.
Merry Christmas Mark, lovely update xx
Merry Christmas to you too
Merry Christmas Mark and family I hope you have a spectacular day, Ali 🎄🧑🎄🇨🇦
The same to you and your family. Stay warm and safe
Hi Mate Those supports looked very messy to work with. Great update mate. 👍👍👍👍👍
They weren’t the best. I wouldn’t recommend.
I think you need a roof over part of the deck 😢😢😢
We’ve considered it. There’s a small area that’s covered. Need decent weather to sort the deck out, it’s currently a dumping ground lol
@ it’s currently pouring rain here but I’m ok with no snow until after Christmas Day as we have to go to my daughters and then brother in laws
Mark , the variety sounds good , I’m trying new varieties this year just for a change 👍👍 merry xmas take care 👍
They always have a good variety and good to try new things. Merry Christmas to you and your family also.
It’s seed craft it’s seed craft you need a catching song Mark 😂😂. Oh nice 50% off sounds great. Min yo net 👍 do some research on growing strawberries 🍓 from seed it is not so easy I tried twice 🤦♀️ and was not successful at all. I’m doing aubergine again (not done for years) and I hope to start in early Jan. Great seed choices, hope your feeling better ❤, Ali 🥶🇨🇦🎄
Min yo net 🤣 I’ll give them a try and see. Never grown aubergines either - I’ll follow your lead. Have a great weekend
I had given up on the alpine strawberries that i started last year but they have now flourished and filled the pot i finally put them in
have a good christmas
@@StellasVegetablegardensawesome
Lazy seedlings Mark 😂 they will perk up and grow away soon 👍👍
Hopefully. Never had any luck with onion seeds. They’ve always died, but I’ve definitely gotten further this year with them.
Thanks for the update Mark, one thing I would of suggested is the use of mycorrhizal fungus on the roots, it really does make a difference especially at potting on, when you can put it directly on them. Vitax do one called Q4 rootmore and it’s not too expensive ranging from £7-£27 depending on the size of the sachet or tub. It might be something worth considering, as it can be used for any plants you are potting on or bare root planting.
That’s what I forgot. I bought some mycorrhizal fungus for the raspberry canes!! Damn, I knew I forgot something 🤣🤣
@ Ha ha, every single one of us do it, I can have it next to me and still forget to put it on 😂😂. What I do now is get all my pots ready with a hole in and put some in there, then if I forget to put some on the roots, at least there’s some in the hole. At least you didn’t make too much mess in the kitchen. 😂🧅👍
Hi Mark Good update mate. They will soon be standing up straight. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks. Here’s hoping 🤞
Your onions are looking good. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day 😊
Hopefully they’ll stay good 👍
Even a tree starts out as a droopy twig 😂 so give them time. I found out round pots are cheaper to make than square ones 😢 that’s why square cost more. I don’t have stand up sticks either so I guess the big boys use them we better too 😂. Glad your sounding and feeling better, Ali 🌞🥶🇨🇦
As long as they continue growing that is the main thing. Have a great week Ali 👍
🙏😊👍
Let’s hope for a good harvest. Never been able to grow onions from seed.
Hi Mark 👋 Hope youre feeling better 😊 you got loads done well done 👏 its not easy finding motivation when youre not 100% Thank You for the mention and take care 😊
Hi Gem. Definitely a lot better. Still not been able to get to plot yet, what with the weather etc. Need to check up on any damage from the storms. You take care also 👍
That’s one job ticked off the list. I love potting on but I’ve nothing of any great size yet to pot on! I agree 100% re Elf on shelf. Fortunately my girls are now mums themselves so it’s over to them to worry about!! I hope you did a good job tidying up that mess😂😂😂
Mess all tidied up. Always some jobs to do. Yes Elf on a Shelf is a nightmare lol
Hope you’re feeling better Mark 😢 it’s dragging on a bit. I got some micoryzl too it helps develop roots 😂 so they say. Seed craft seeds are on the go too 💪. 😂😂 elf on the shelf hmm no. I’m terrible at pricking out and potting on, it’s probably why I like beans so much 😅. Your secrets safe with me 😉. Stay safe hope your all ok, Ali 🥶🇨🇦
Looking forward to the seed craft updates 👍 It’s hard to pot on gentle lol you stay safe also.
glad you are feeling better
Thanks 👍
hello Mark,i am not suprised you are indoors today ,it is blowing a hooley here, and is non stop rain.....👍
Same here still. It’s so bleak out there now.
Thanks for shout out mate 👍 Thankfully no elf on the shelf for me my kids have all fledged the nest but plenty of grandkids that insist on elf on the shelf antics 😅😅 The potting on will be a success I’m sure mate but get that mess sorted mate I fear for you if the other half walks in 🤣🤣🤣 Have a good week mate🙏😊👍
Everything was cleaned up and put away, you wouldn’t have even known I had done any potting on! 🤣
Awesome 😎 my winter village is so big it doesn’t get put away 😂😂
I may end up like that in a few years, but not just yet.
I got those fans🙂 sowing the seeds shortly 😂
Good luck 🤞
Good to see you are on the up again, looks like a good day to be on the plot..no rain 😂
Was a good day for it. Rain is back this week ☔️🌧️
Pruning rule is normally a third, but definitely Ross over branches and it depends do you want it tall if not take off some top spindly branches and tiny bits at the bottom.
It just needs to be a bit smaller and manageable. It’s starting to encroach on other areas and if I grow in the beds beside it, the falling apples and shade might cause issues.
Glad you’re feeling better Mark 👍. Yes my elephant garlic is still hiding but then again my regular garlic 🧄 is super slow too. You’ll get there winter is the time for slow work 😂. Have a great week keep warm, Ali 🥶🥶🇨🇦 Ps my broad beans died 😢😢
Sorry to hear about your broad beans. None of mine have germinated yet. Might give another week or two and sow some more.
Glad ur feeling better
Thanks. Still not 100% but a lot better than I was.
Beautiful sky
It really was. The camera doesn’t do it justice sadly.
Dancing onions 🧅 hopefully my seed arrives tomorrow
Then you can join the party 👍
@ yeah, I sent my use fans back last year as they didn’t last long so maybe I will have to buy more or stand and blow them 🤣🤣🤣
This fan is just a cheap one off Amazon. Never used a fan before on seedlings - so see how they go.
Coming on nicely Mark. 🧅👍
Thanks Pete 👍
Just be careful that the breeze is not to strong mate, they are looking good though 👍
It’s just a light breeze
Best of luck with the onion challenge. Elaine 🌱🧅🧅🧅
Many thanks.
get well soon Mark, onions are coming along nicely 🤕👍
They’re not looking too bad!
Hey, i haven’t sown mine yet 😮 today hopefully
There’s still plenty of time 👍
@ 😊
Your onions are looking good. I hope you feel better soon😊
Thanks. They’re doing alright for now. Let’s hope they flourish.
Hi Mark Great update mate. Hope your feeling better soon. 👍👍👍👍👍🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅
Thanks. I’m on the mend, but not 100% there yet.
Oh yikes crunchy snow. Get well soon Mark 😢. Don’t overwater I am always doing that 🤦♀️. Stay safe keep warm, Ali 🌧️🥶🇨🇦
No risk of over watering, as I couldn’t leave my bed for 5 days lol 🤣🤣 I’ve ventured to other parts of the house the past 2 days, so getting there. The ground is frozen and icy now!!
Oh no! Hope you feel better soon ❤❤
Getting there. Was floored in bed for a few days, but seem to be over the worst of it. Only silver lining, was I didn’t have to venture out of house in the freezing weather.
Nice update, best of luck mate
Let’s hope they do well
Great update Mark, it’s good to know you are going to get a fan on them, I feel it’s quite important in order to keep them sturdy. Hope you feel better soon.
Never used a fan for seedlings before, but that’s what you all seem to be doing 👍
@@GrowingWithPlot21 i think its just that a light breeze can help strengthen the seedlings for when they are put outside. Or if they are beiong grown inside a grow box on heat mats it helps circulate fresh air. This is my first time with giants so learning as i go and from friends who do grow giant onions and leeks
Yes, light breeze indeed. Gonna give it a try and see. My onions from seed all died last year, so I’m doing better than last time lol
Good luck on getting your seeds started. New friend here. Showing you support. I am in the challenge too. Fingers crossed I get some onions. Happy gardening 😊
Hopefully we’ll all do well. Welcome to the challenge 👍
Best of luck mate, new sub here 👍
Welcome 👍
@GrowingWithPlot21 cheers mate 👍
Oh awesome I’m going to do some of the ones you sent me today or tomorrow 👍👍. Have a super day Mark hope it’s a dry one, Ali 🥶🌦️🇨🇦
Sounds good Ali. Look forward to seeing how they go. It’s been dryer, but getting colder by the day now.
Hum and har away 😂 Mark. I did 12 of each in heat and 12 of each without and to be honest I’m not seeing a lot of difference. But good on you for joining good luck 👍, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
Let’s see how it all goes. Have a great week 👍
Hi Mark All is looking good. Good luck. 👍👍👍👍👍🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅
Let’s see how it goes
Nice one Mark, should be up soon, best of luck with them. 🧅👍
Same to you. Let’s see how it goes.
Well done joining in,we can all learn from each other 👍 good luck ,your seeds should be up in about 7 days 👍👍
Let’s see how it goes.
I planted beans today and onions and garlic last week… I don’t actually eat broad beans! Hardly eat onions either, but my neighbours do! Thanks for the vid xx
I’ve got some onions from seeds starting and I’ll plant onion sets in the spring. Thanks for watching 👍
@ I’ve also go loads of onion seeds, but I think I may have already got too many onions! But knowing me, I’ll end up growing some seed and seeing if they’re better than the set onion x
I've joined the challenge after watching another vid of yours! Mine are still in the post so I'll copy you now! 😂😂
😂😂😂 I wouldn’t advise copying me, I’ve had terrible luck with onions. Good luck with it all 👍
I love broad bean flowers!
Here’s hoping to a few.
Evening Mark, and I’ve bought some more garlic 🤦♀️ me too 😂😂. For someone who wasn’t going to grow any I’ve now got lots 😅. Hopefully the garlic does well and the cold helps split them👍. I’ve done more broad beans as the caterpillars got at mine earlier in Oct. I’ll do more again most likely in early spring. I’m glad you’re passing on the bushes you don’t like 👍. Remember raspberries in the ground will spread out a lot. Oh awesome compost find 💪💪. Have a great week Mark stay safe, Ali 🥶☔️🇨🇦
More crops Ali? Who would have thought you’d be growing more 🤣🤣 Yeah, need to look into raspberries and think properly about them. I could find ones that go in pots to save the hassle 🤣 no rush to decide though.
Hi Mark, new subscriber, I'm also doing the onion challenge, looking forward to your gardening journey, always remember if you don't know about something then always ask, everyone is always here to help with advice, Steve
Thanks for the subscription. Yes, there are a lot of people to learn from - a good community. Good luck in the onion challenge? 👍🧅🧅
Nice update Mark, I’m sure that garlic and the broad beans will do really well. Thanks also for sharing the onion challenge, it’s much appreciated. 🧅👍
Thanks Pete. My Onion video will be going up Tuesday hopefully. Sowed and filmed, just need to edit now! Have a great week 👍
