Was just there today riding my bike around. Sadly, it was completely devastated by Ian. I've ridden my bike there many times before Ian but this is the first time I saw it since. Looks like they're making progress in restoration but it's got a long ways to go before it's back to this. On the upside just a mile up the street there's another little kayyak Putin, a bald eagle family has nested. They got a huge rock perimeter line setup around it, but you can see them from the trees.

We moved down in 1994 with my parents when I was 2 years at a high school. We then moved to fort Myers for a couple years then had our house built in Cape Coral in 2001. My parents lived on pine Island until 2016 when they both passed away. I still visit very often since we're so close.

Awesome- thanks for the info and your prompt reply. I’ve been a subscriber to your awesome channel for some time. Sorry to hear about your parents. The reason I asked was that we have been going to Pine Island for a few years and we love it. We hope to retire there soon and I’m trying to do my homework before then. Thanks again.

I think the tree with the fuzzy flowers and bees everywhere is probably a type of mimosa. We have three pink ones at our house and hummingbirds love them. I tried to count the hummingbirds but they move pretty fast I know there was at least 30.

That is like a dream place! Wouldn't it be cool if they had an underwater viewing area! We have that at the Sea Lion caves here in Oregon. It's really loud down there with hundreds of sea lions hanging out in a very large cavern. You should check out a video of it online. It's pretty awesome

Great trail! I loved going there as a kid and I highly highly recommend as long as you bring insect repellent ;) Be careful on the trail though, I sometimes see a tall dude with a suit on for some reason. Who wears a tuxedo in Florida weather?? Also, the tower takes forever to walk down from! I think last time I went it took me 2 hours to get down from there. Weird. Beautiful trail!

That's really cool and I would love to go fishing there. It's something I like to do. I was expecting more bat houses though. Maybe they should put up a few more. When we were Young my parents had an above ground pool with a deck that went up to the edge and there was a light out there. We used to sleep out there in the summer sometimes with friends and watch the bats go after the bugs and they would skim the pool we were thinking they were getting drinks but really have no idea. They scared my mom to death but us kids were just excited by the whole thing. I'm weird I like bats and snakes and weird stuff like that that nobody else does. Your alligators would terrify me though LOL
