Indepth oil change on the KLX 230SM. I was going to do a splash and fill without a filter change, but since there is a lack of videos on this bike the void must be filled. I have this bike in this color - awesome bike
I just picked up a 2024 40th edition. I put a whole 34 miles on it. It’s fun as heck! I appreciate your input and enjoy your channel
That’s awesome!!! Big change from the klx.
@@pitbikemike it’s definitely different. I’m keeping the KLX too. I love that bike
I absolutely enjoyed this video! I guess the older I get, the more I want an adventure bike. Good stuff
I just purchased a 24 900 GT Pro. I have to say the engine does sound very cool. You can listen to the engine while riding and it’s very entertaining. Something I really like to do. Clutch pull is very light. The engine will pull from 2500 rpm with ease and without any chugging. Shifting is dead smooth. The same as with the quick shifter. It shifts perfectly with no clunk. The Brembo brakes are impressive. Not much vibration from the engine and since it’s cold here now I don’t notice the heat from the radiator. Really like the fact that the display shows incoming calls and turn by turn directions. It’s like riding a dirt bike with a really powerful engine. It’s turns with ease and runs along effortlessly. Personally I think they could have done much better with the display. Lots of wasted space with the speedo and tach in the center of a rectangle. Almost gives the impression the screen was developed by a non rider. I would rather have a digital speedo and a bargraph tach running up the left side and across the top. On the right I would like to see the odometer and trip meters. Across the bottom the gas gauge and maybe the temp gauge.
I just traded my 23 900GT PRO for a 24 model simply because of the updating Triumph did.I really didn’t hav any issues from the 23. I was hoping Triumph fixed the Heat issue directing away from my knees But No I haven’t noticed any diff. Plus other little issues for me But Not A Dealbreaker It’s a Keeper 👍👍
There is videos on TH-cam showing how people have installed small plastic deflectors that seem to redirect the heat.
@@robm3357 On the 2024 Tiger 900 model. I’ve seen something lk ur saying on older models. Plus Triumph put 2 Vents on each side But I haven’t noticed any difference still directing heat on my knees
What micrófono are you using?
this is 2023 version not 2024
That would be wrong - it is a 2024
What about the heat? Did you feel it on your knees?
I didn’t notice much heat on the bike tbh. but I didn’t get caught in any real traffic on the demo ride to have had a chance to notice if there was any.
@@pitbikemike thank you. That's something i'm trying to find out.
@@josecarlosgomes447I own one. Three weeks now. Heat on your knees IS a thing. You will feel it. .. enough to bother you? Won’t know till you test ride one. I put up with it as the bike all round is magnificent for ME.
Damn you actually deleted the breadbox🤣🤣🤣
Well yea ofc it’s not loud. You still have breadbox. Remove the breadbox and yours ears will ring after 5 min🤣🤣
I like the idea of one of these but I'm concerned it would give the insurance company an excuse not to pay out should the worst happen...
It is liquid cooled and has a digital tach. Just sayin'....
2:50 to switch the modes you have to pull the clutch to confirm
Are there tubeless tires ? Also are the stock tires tubeless?
Unfortunately no. The oem wheels require tubes. The tires themselves are capable of being tubeless, but the wheel it self is deciding factor.
Never ridden a 900, but I have two 1200s. I feel like that 900 would be too small and slow. Lol
Try riding Speed twin 1200, its more of an animal than this. This bike is not made for American highways for it have cruise control, it's a retro classic. My 900 is awesome even after riding it for 3 years and I've put on 15000 kms. Only complaint is the seat height is low for a tall rider like myself.
Hav to Disagree Not made for US highways👎My 2023 ST1200 handles my Ky back rds TN & NC Dragon rds with ease plus cruise control is useless on those type of rds.✌️
It's a liquid cooled motor, the radiator is small and fairly well disguised and the fins are still on the motor.
Good to know, thanks for the correction!
This bike is good enough to keep for life. Nothing else like it at this price point. I'd only sell it as a trade in for the newer one!
Curious about how this effected your speedo, and fuel consumption? Did you ever consider modifying the sproket as well or is it necessary? Ps. Very keen on the 24/25 KLX230SM to be released in Australia. Your vids helped me decide to go ahead and buy.
I haven't noticed the speedo being to far off to make a difference for me. And mpg hasn't been affected that I know, I get about 69mpg (Im normally riding full throttle all the time). I have thought about going to the sprocket from the 230 dual sport that is that is a 45 rear compared to the 43 on the SM in the rear. but honestly I been happy with how the bike sits now.
cool vid
Good bike. Keep it. The one bike I wish I still had in a long motorcycling life is the Suzuki DR250SH that I had in Tokyo in 91/92. Even lighter than this 230 as it didn't have a battery. It put out 29 bhp and the crank so went well. I always wanted 17'' wheels for it, but back then you couldn't get an SM standard. Now you can, and I am going to get a KLX230SM. Big enough for a second/third bike. I think I'll probably ride it the most. Nick
what exhaust is that. If you know the part # as well? much appreciated!
Norifumi from Indonesia
You are weird, test ride need to follow the rules. You do not even line up.
Good to see the Z out! I really enjoyed the kart videos
I am shaping up to getting a KLX230SM in Thailand. They are made over here. It will be one of three bikes, the other two get regular use as does a 155cc Yamaha scooter which will make way for the 230SM. I have enjoyed all your 230SM videos.
wherever you are looks beautiful
Love the slip on. Got a link for it?
I'd change the oil and filter every 5,000 km / 3,100 miles. I'm in Thailand, and it's hot, so I'd use a 15w50 oil. No salt on the road over here. Quarts and ounces mean nothing to me. I've looked up the conversions to litres. Nick
I probably said the other day, but I have a Yamaha SCR950, KTM 390 Duke and Yamaha Aerox 155 [twist & go scooter], the last one in that list would make way for the 230SM should I decide to buy one. It's certainly powerful enough for my backroad needs. Your videos are just what I needed to see. Nick
Waiting for your klx content here
The issues are nothing to do with reliability. That's good. The tank would be an okay size for me. The bike looks plenty quick enough. I am considering buying one of these in northern Thailand for running around on. Maximum 50 miles on backroads in one hit and that would be rare. More usually, 30 miles. The 300 has a rev counter. Not really needed but desirable. I already own a Yamaha SCR950 and a KTM 390 Duke Mk2. The 230SM will be replacing my Yamaha Aerox 155 twist and go scooter. Excellent video. Nick
Do you know where your KTM duke GP was manufactured? Was it in Austria or China
Did you feel a difference when you installed the pipe?
@@jfm1811 No I didn’t really feel a difference just sound. Which in some ways is nice cause when I out a pipe on crf250l I noticed it had a flat spot in rev range till I put fuel tuner. So this was slip on and forget in my case. I did the o2 delete just cause it was cheap and was curious if it made any difference…
Not 2024 jackasssdsss
No...all of that is the computer and tech.. lol the gas is cool but honestly I would like it if it was 4.5 gallon....... I miss this bike but i had a default one
@2:18 I realize this dude was making his dog work and tiring him or she out😭😭
Did you have any clearance problems on the 140 rear?
@@rikkiroxx1430 I did not have any clearance issues in regards to the swing arm. But I did have to tighten the rear suspension preload which fixed a issue because when I had a passenger on the back, it was squatting enough that on certain bumps the tire would just touch the muffler. Honestly I have really enjoyed having a 140 rear on this bike and don’t plan to ever go back to the smaller size
It sure about the tin sound you’re speaking of. I have a 2024 super chef limited and it’s got more bass than a korn song. Maybe that particular bike was modified or made in china?
I think he is speaking the truth some people just like too pay more money for something thinking it is way more better sometime you and see a little and feal a little different but not enough too justifie paying 1200 dollar for same for a sport a 600 zx6 0-100 aint too much different from a zx10
Stop talking with your hands..... especially when riding.... other than that.. ok video..
You did a good job on those corners but I bet I could beat you
Great video!! I also have a Z9, so the tip about the bar end was very useful. I’m considering buying because of its slick profile opposed to those big ass clamps lol. Do bar end mirrors still fit?
I am not sure I have never run bar end mirrors. But I don’t really see why not. Dont take my word for it though haha
@@pitbikemike appreciate it, keep up the great work!!
4:35 when you say the bike was high for you did you mean the seat height ? what's your height?
That is a huge kart track! Cool stuff!!
It was a cool experience, video doesn’t do it justice on the speed and g’s you feel ripping around the track
The Whoops type Norifumi is better designed not to burn the right turn signal.. i got the Rocket 4 type, had to change the turn signal to a smaller one to avoid it get burned 😀
Look cool
Did you find a solution for the turn signal? Nice job on installation!
it ended up melting. so I did a tst tail tidy which I really have liked so far
@@pitbikemike 👍
This is a year later, hopefully u sold it and bought yourself some new panties and let someone else enjoy it. It’s not the bikes fault u made a decision u regret. 👎🏽
How much do you weigh? I wish motobloggers would state that when doing reviews. Us bigger guys need to "weigh" this when considering the purchase. Did you think about the brakes or the handling?
Performance cruiser is a great way of putting it. It has power while still feeling like riding a couch (comfort) that can nimbly navigate twisties.
Needs ape hangers or bar risers
