I manually machined these billet parts on a 64 year old milling machine
See how we manually machine these brake caliper brackets from a billet block. We wanted to upgrade the braking system on our car from small solid discs to bigger ventilated discs.
There were no existing solutions available so we designed our own parts in CAD, 3D printed prototypes for testing and did some old school manual machining on our 1960 TOS conventional milling machine. We don't even have a Digital read out, everything was done by hand and counting the numbers on the axis read-outs.
it was quite an experience to make these parts, so enjoy watching the video!!

    • @thebrojectlist6881

      the bottom half warps with the top surface of it happens. You have to use a dial indicator and go over the surface to find the 'most level position'. if you measure all corners and they are within the amount of material you can safely remove it's fine. Sometimes you have to shim it out. If its to much you can't skim it anymore, also if it's warped badly the camshaft bearing won't align anymore and it can cause failures

I see new systems in neighbors properties but they rarely seem to last a season without something or other breaking or being destroyed in storms. I think these windmills produce alternating current and you have to use specialised charge controller to do ac-dc stabilization not a dc to dc solar controller. Check this. Secondly yeah specs will be rubbish china specs but I expect about 100-300 watts. EDIT The scared id iot of this channel blocked replies so I reserve my right to edit and POST FINAL COMMENT here.🤣😃 @thebrojectlist6881 I don't mind educating likes of you about intricacies of turbine design however you need to watch your mouth. Disrespectful idiots usually get a mouthful from me and put right in their place. What is your qualification? Do you know basic electronics principles ? have you tested every single wind mill based on this blade design and can testify all are using aluminium wire and weak magnets with cheap rectifiers. No ? Then stop bull shiting about things you do not know for cheap publicity on TH-cam. I said before and I maintain in windy locations even 50-100 watts are good to keep batteries charged up. Your model uses cheap rectifiers so close to the turbine it shows you bought the worst possible model from among the available range. Dc current attenuates quickly, in this low power design it should remain ac until it reaches battery where specially built inverters should convert it to Dc. This is why Nicola Tesla Ac distribution design won over the Dc distribution alternative. Hope you have been educated in the basics of electric design and will be better behaving now 😃

    • @thebrojectlist6881

      It is a 3 phase AC generator, but has a recitifier built in. I showed it in the video. It puts out DC, it's shown when i test it on the workbench. The multimeter is reading DC voltage up to 180V with no loads attached. The newer models have a seperate rectifier, those are sliightly less worse. A simple solar charger should be good enough to handle the load voltage of this thing. It's only when you have big dump loads (sudden wind gusts or storm) that these solar charge controller start to struggle.

    • @imac786

      @@thebrojectlist6881 that rectifier is the week point imho. Newer models will fare slightly better. On the up side even 100 watts from a vertical wind turbine in windy areas can be good to keep batteries charged in cloudy days. The models I have seen have solar wind hybrid controllers for a simple solar string also.

    • @thebrojectlist6881

      @@imac786 the whole generator design is a weak point. The rectifier is the least of the concerns, it doesn't have to work hard, there is almost no power produced in the first place. Even if you would rewind the generator with copper wire of the correct size and put decent size magnets in the rotor, it wil probably be capable of doing about 50W at best. (Given the size of the generator and the rotational speed). It's nothing more than a scam. It so poorly designed from the start that there is hardly anything worth to upgrade.

    • @imac786

      @@thebrojectlist6881 No I think rectifier is the issue. Ac-dc conversation needs saperate inverter and 100 watts is possible with this design and strong wind speed but even with 50 watts which you said what did you expect with 100 euros? I maintain that it is not bad to keep batteries charged up. Where wind is good these things may add 3kwh to system in one day which is good. Scam is in the specs. They should call it what it is 100-300 watts not 3000 watts

    • @thebrojectlist6881

      @@imac786 Please explain further what you think the rectifier is doing that would cause the whole thing not to work? I am interested in hearing your theory on this. 😀 All rectifiers are just diodes that filter one side of the ac sinus. doesnt matter if its 6 diodes connected directly after the generator coils or if you put a separete rectifier behind it. Still is using some diodes an maybe a capacitor. The design may be capable of generating 100watts, if you rewind the coils with copper instead of 0.4mm aluminium wire and place decent size magnets in the rotor instead of the tiny 3mm thick fridge magnets. 100W on 12v would mean 8 Amps passing true a 0.4mm alu wire Also it has an airgap of about 4mm between the stator and rotor. Literally anything about this design is trash. Also why should i not expect it to at least work somehow? I don't think €100 is cheap. Most people have to work a full day to earn that amount of money. It's nothing more than a scam. These chinese company's know they don't have any liability and can get away wiith this. The whole point of this video is to show people that they better save their hard earned money. Sadly this is the reality with lots of products these day's.

      The problem is not how it looks like. It could work, if its electronics were any good.

      keep in mind that the other "normal looking" chinese windmills (horizontal axis wind turbine) use the exact same generator as this one.

      @@thebrojectlist6881 I think they MIGHT have fixed several of the issues with yours. I bought one a few months ago but haven't put it up yet because I don't have a pole, but bought it after seeing other reviews on it. It's a vevor but it isn't the same model as your blades. It's 400w. I think in the other reviews it was putting out about 45w. You should rewind the inside with larger, real copper wire, and add more magnets. It would be an interesting video :)

      @@PhonePhone-sf8te Would be very interesting to see if it's actually better. as with a lot of the china-spec stuff that's going around you never really know what you get or what version you get until it's delivered. They have a tendency to sell whatever version they have laying around. The exact same one is still being sold, altough i have seen some that have copper coils. still 45w for the claimed 400W it should do is still only 11.25%. imagine buying a car with 400hp advertised and it makes only 45hp I have thought about rewinding it but it isn't worth it. The amount of coils you need in the correct size, to handle the amps will not fit in the generator housing. Also the rotor needs to be taller. And finally the cost of these would exceed the price of a standard BLDC motor. Better to source a hub motor or some low rpm electrice motor that can be used as a generator. If i had to rewind it, i would start from scratch and build an axial flux generator, way more efficient and suited for low rpm applications

    first of all, the charge controller you are using is not a real MPPT controller. They are named MPPT to make you buy it. It is a PWM controller. So there is the first scam. MPPT controllers have a large spule inside.

    • @thebrojectlist6881

      I also had my doubts that it was not a "real mppt". maybe i should test the controller in a next video then. But still, if it's only a pwm controller it should charge the battery somewhat. Less efficient but good enough to work. The output voltage of the windmill never exceeded 10V DC, that was the reason i had put the step-up converter between the generator and controller. There just wasn't any power coming out of that generator.
