It’s funny, I just went through my dad’s things that were gathered up for me when he died two years ago. I haven’t seen what was for me until today. All of his things were thrown away or sold accept these things. In the boxes were also my grandparents things that he had after they died. And as I look through these “very important things” I realized there are what’s left of three lives in two boxes. Two generations. Some of the things were pictures from the 50’s and sixties and older even I’m sure. That’s all that is left of over 80 years and three lives. And my son will be the last generation who will have ever known those three people personally. His son will never have met them. I’m sure when my time comes there may be one extra box full of “stuff” that my life will have amounted too. When my son’s time comes nobody will have ever met us, the ones who have passed. Three generations will have disappeared from this realm forever and nobody will have known or remember who we were. It reminds me of ecclesiasties in the bible, there is nothing new under the sun. Everything is meaningless, like chasing the wind. We’re here for a short time and then we are gone forever. So eat, drink, find joy, for that is all that there really is in this life. We take nothing with us when we go. That being said, it was a very emotional day for me. Many tears were shed, memories brought back to life only for a moment.

It's too embrace pain, pain and pleasure are interconnected. When someone we care deeply about leaves us or this world we will feel an equal amount of pain as well did love for them. If we accept that pain will happen we can move past it through the beauty they brought into our lives.
